My greatest qualm when it comes to ASW games. Incredible quality, but their prices and game updating strategies are often egregious.

I don't even know that it's ASW in this case. I think Namco just senses blood in the water with all the clamor for this game from MvC fans who aren't thrilled with Infinite, DB fans, and general FG fans.
What will really be a shot in the gut is that if a second version gets announced shortly after that 8th character is out and it includes all the old characters including the 8 DLC.
The ASW portion of this game is starting to truly emerge with the DLC stuff.

yes, when gaf went down many of the communities in both gaming and OT migrated to discord

Really depends on which characters. And I'll probably buy them eventually... on sale.
Head Cha La is all I needed... I already know I'm gonna crumble for that song pack.

What's the culture on discussing previews for upcoming episodes in the general chat? Still open to discuss freely I'm guessing?
Asking because it's what kept me out of the DB OT most of the time, I don't like how much those previews show.

there is a spoiler channel and a regular anime channel
most people seem to be talking in the spoiler channel, but might as well look for yourself
by previews do you mean the next episode preview or spoilers?
We have a separate spoiler chat within the main chat.

There's various channels in it where you can solely discuss spoilers, non-spoilers, where the dub is, etc.

I avoid those next episode previews because of how much they reveal, so I consider them spoilers. I know that others may disagree, but I'd rather not know details that'll give everything away in upcoming episodes.

I would like an invite to the discord as well, if that's alright. I know I haven't posted here, but I do like reading through this thread and the Dragonball Super OT.
Man though, can't believe this game is coming out so soon on January 26, on the same day as Monster Hunter World to boot, my wallet am cry.
I'll probably cancel the Collectorz Edition for the Ultimate Edition personally, I'd rather get access to the extra characters than merch stuff myself. Hopefully Beerus and Ultimate Gohan make the base Roster, if not I'm fine with them as DLC I suppose.

Are we just abandoning this thread though? I know things have been crazy lately, but it *looks* like it's slowly returning to normal... maybe?
Anyway... loving the Jan 26 release date. Wondering when the open beta will run and for how long. With pre-orders getting early access I've got to assume it'll be at least Fri-Sun with pre-orders getting in no matter than Thurs.
Would love to see the open beta run into release, but I'm doubtful that will happen.
Also, 8 DLC characters probably means at least one or two characters from movies, original DB or GT. Broly is obviously a lock, but beyond him. If we assume 24 for the base roster, most of the guaranteed cast fill up the rest of the 24.

Well I don't really think you can call something that airs as part of the episode a spoiler
You would probably have a hard time avoiding discussion about the NEPs in any dragonball community
But I mean you do you , just makes it a lot harder to discuss with people

It's not an issue on Reddit, although probably large in part due to the structure there. Meanwhile, you can't even walk into any DB thread on GAF without seeing gifs of stuff that just aired and NEP's. There's no grace period on here at all lol. People posting Ultra Instinct gifs instantly, whereas it may be frowned upon in other ways like with new movie releases etc.
Plus, NEP's for Dragon Ball have always explicitly spoiled what's coming next. The titles are essentially full sentences at times too; it's crazy. "I wonder what will happen in this episode titled 'Vegeta's Demise' or Gohan Awakens The Sleeping Beast But Not Without Goku's Help,'" asked no one ever.
