Trying to modify my ship.

The docker module is being a huge wanker. I don't know why it's complaining with every fucking thing I do. All I want is some bigger fuel and new engines and it's not having any of it

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Lighting engine is excellent a lot of the time:

Beautiful.

This is what I want the Fable reboot to look like.

I forgot on which moon I stashed my contraband items :messenger_hushed: All this fast travel is making my head spin, most of the time I have no idea where I am.
Next time I'll write it down. Or stash it on our moon lol.
Yup, I've had to start taking notes. IF you're on PC/Steam the new overlay has a note taking tool built into it. Very useful.

The docker module needs some space around it without anything being "higher" than it, because this would block being able to dock successfully; my ship has a tailpiece on it that's slightly higher than the docking module, but it's far enough away that it doesn't matter.

I actually never explored Jemison wilderness outside New Atlantis. Sneak attack some of those peaceful dinos and you level up fast. Scanning a planet with actual life is kinda fun. Reminds me of a farming game or something.

Such a contrast in here with people who are actually playing it. Not saying its perfect but still.

This is a good thing and why reviews should not be taken so seriously. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

i am quite surprised that people are enjoying it so much though. Usually with games I dislike I can see why others may enjoy them, but this one I would have bet my bottom dollar that it was universally panned but here we are. Each to their own.

They finally allow controller and kb/m controls at the same time which is awesome. I'm mainly a controller guy so I was able to use Rewasd and program my Elite 2 controller so that I can auto-walk, select specific weapons, and go straight to any menu easily with the controller.

I am staring over. I have a few bugs and I am not happy with my character traits (I guess Dream House lives in your quest log until you pay off the mortgage?). I went into early access with the thought of experimenting and either rerolling or dashing toward the end of the game. I am going to go with rerolling. Definitely keeping the Kids Stuff perk. I love my parents. :)

I picked these traits and I'm very happy with them:
  • Spaced - makes the game harder at first but now I have unique gear + mods so O2 on surface is non issue.
  • Introvert - playing solo, so makes sense.
  • Wanted - not even a trait, it's just free XP, loot, ships. Idiots keep chasing me, I keep whacking them and stealing their shit. Love it.

I started with Introvert and Wanted and got both removed already. Only one I have left is Neon Street Rat.

I land on random planet and go to a POI and guess what? A ship was laying there without anyone near it...This is how i got my second shit.
Now, 10 minutes ago, I land on another planet and see a POI with a "landing zone" icon which is not for my ship. I go there and were some pirates spread around. I crouch and get inside the ship and while I enter into it, the ships starts flying. I go into the cockpit and there were 4 pirates. After I killed them i got to pilot the shit to New Atlantis and registered it to my name...That's how i got the third ship.

im stuck in a space battle, base ship yet. But the thing is when I press RS on the Xbox controller instead or reparing shield it opens the damn Photo Mode, once it starts doing that I have to reboot the game and after a few tries it happens again.

Did you change the default bindings accidentally ?

On one hand I like the game. On the other hand I can see how the 'Elite' crowd will find it lacking as a space flight/exploration simulator. I can see how the Survival Game crowd finds it lacking as a survival game. I can see how the RPG crowd finds it lacking in as an RPG (both in terms of mechanics and story/quests). And I am not sure the game successfully carries itself well enough to create its own space in-between those three genres.

Will continue to play though!

After 10 hours playing I feel totally immersed in the game. I truly love the lack of a detailed map and markers over shops, NPCs, etc. In fact, the game plays as I thought it would be Cyberpunk, but that game ended being the typical open world game where the city is only a decoration and you play finding the mission marks in the map. It's refreshing to play an old school game where you play in the real 3D world of the game, not in the map.

The contrast between beauty and ghastly is so stark in this game.

There's moments like these:

And then there's this:

The game excels when it can show off its NASApunk and techno-utopia aesthetics. All in all in terms of graphics it is still miles ahead of any other game Bethesda has ever made. Truly a next gen for the engine. Amazing lighting and texture reflections as well.

Question: can you complete the main quest and not enter NG+ or does completing the final quest automatically put you in NG+?

PS.

Didn't someone say you can't climb ladders in the game ?

There's tons of ladders, hell my second ship has climbable ladders.

The fact that we now have climbable ladders in a Bethesda game is truly an amazing feat of technology that no one is even talking about.

I went off on a detour quest that started with a funny hailing from a UC vessel. I spent all last night and today completing it. Very cool, but down to earth and well realized, with the whole setup helping establish the lore and factions. Plus I had multiple chances to alter the outcome(s). Very fun too. A mix of ground pounding, space combat, and dialogue. It was like playing my own sci-fi tv show or movie. I'm actually surprised at the quality writing and VA in the game.

You know how you play too much Tetris and get "Tetrisized" and see pieces everywhere? Happened to me with Starfield going to get groceries. Was like I was just looking at the sky more and realized I'm on one tiny piece of one biome. This game is messing with me man lol. Playing this much will do that to you I suppose.

I know what you mean. Didn't happen to me yet, maybe because I wasn't outside much since the game was released. The best example of this happening to me was when I played the first Splinter Cell on OG Xbox. I was just looking at light sources and shadows everywhere, it's like my brain was re-wired.

Decked out my ship a bit more

4BIshUh.jpg

Added a larger front loader, fancy new cockpit, infirmary and workshop so I always have those workbenches; stronger guns and even some windows!

Another 40k credits gone lol, and there's still so much I want to change/build; I should probably just stop until I get the class C certification and starship builder skills for fancier parts.

You need to have space clearance for the docks to work ie no other parts on the ship passing the height/width of the dock entry points themselves, otherwise you get the warning.

Build somewhere else like the bottom (not past the landing gear same as the docks) or add more space to the chassis to add more part connectors, but that adds mass and will cost a pretty penny.

Is it difficult to get the 5k credits per month for the mortgage? If you take it early?
Not really, money has absolutely not been a problem, especially if you're not upgrading your ships frequently, you'll be swimming in credits
