Skyrim - 6 New Screenshots (July 22)

This thread is ridiculous. 4 months ago everybody was drooling over videos and screenshots and now it's suddenly meh. Lol

The contrast in these images are way too high.

They might be pics meant for a magazine.

I know I've seen Triple H and the undead guy in a magazine (Maybe the Official PS3 mag?) either earlier this month or late last month. In fact I'm almost certain of it. I can recall that the article mentioned different weapon combos and that spells can be combined to make them more powerful. I think it had a joke about the Dragons being procedurally generated so Dragon conservationists needed be worried.

To their credit, these might not actually be bullshots. Their press shots of Fallout 3 weren't either, I believe. So kudos actually showing the image quality (minus compression) we can expect (on 360).

Why would a zombie have a beard? Wouldn't it rot off?

Skyrim is meant to be quite cold, and cold really slows decomposition. Same reason we use refrigerators and freezers for storing food. The look suggests a level of mummification as well.

It'll look really great once it's modded to the nines. Bit hard to look at after just playing Witcher 2.

Personally, i love very dark, pitch black realistic dungeons (i like the night this way, too).
Something like:

(sorry for the quick and shitty photoshop).
Otherwise torches and cateyes spells are pretty much useless and there's no tension.
Plus i love the contrast, when you finally emerge into the sunlight, outside.

There is definitively something different between these screenshots and what we have seen before.

Not for me it's not! Oblivion and Fallout were fun as freaking hell, not many disagree. Those games had plenty of issues yet they were still superb. A few rough textures and some bad lighting shouldn't deter you from this game like that.

Why is Triple H in Skyrim?
LOL I thought the same thing.

The outdoor environments look impressive but the character models do not. Should look better in motion where small blemishes will be less recognizable.

I don't want Witcher 2 graphics but this just looks plain ugly. Oh well, I'll pick up the GOTY anyway, should be some good mods around by then.

Looks oddly washed out, the lighting is funky.

The art is still miles above Oblivion though, and I'm digging a lot of the content on display. The landscapes look gorgeous. This game will consume me.

Only here could people complain about the graphics even though it looks like this.

Personally I think it look absolutely amazing! I can't believe how they're able to pull off throwing this much details in the world without sacrificing the framerate, which are said to be locked at 30fps iirc.

Those are 360 screens though arent they? Hasnt all the media released been on 360? Such as the E3 demos etc?

Either way they look like garbage. But fuck it, if I can play Oblivion I can play this (and love it).

Every time they release any media for this game, it just gets worse and worse.

Now we have this completely bland looking thing with terrible lighting, low-res textures and a complete lack of visual effects. This looks like Oblivion to me? Why did the game look so much better when they announced it.

Hopefully it's 360 screenshots, then they are semi-excused.

Like Jeff Gertsmann says, you'll know we're in the next gen based on Triple H's hair.

Looks like we're not there yet.

Also, holy bloom on that last screen. Hope I can turn that off.

Nothing some lighting and texture mods won't fix - something like this was to be expected. And no way Bethesda'll bother with higher textures on PC, they haven't in the past.

Oh god the textures. And what's with the complete lack of lighting in some of those shots? Are they really old or something? Doesn't match up with the other screens they showed off early in development. Were they bullshots?

30 FPS is a sacrifice.

I don't get it. The 360 version has looked great in motion, but these look...well, odd. Color me confused.

I still think these look fine, but not as pretty as the media they've previously put out.

The 360 version looked great at E3. These are just some piss poor pics.

It's gonna look awesome on both consoles. It'll only look AND run AND mod on one platform, but I expect that Skyrim will be one of the best looking console games of this gen.

Doesn't look that impressive at all.
Sort of my thoughts as well. Looks ugly.

Bethesda's hype train will once again make this game sell like hotcakes, though, and people will look over all of the issues.

I hope to hell these weren't taken at max graphical settings, or that they were taken on a 360. In this day and age its almost unacceptable. It looks pretty similar to oblivion. I'm just going to blame the Russians for this one :p

The landscapes and dragons look amazing but they still don't seem to get the humans right. Both the light and shading looks bad in my opinion.

I think you need to look at some screenshots of Oblivion again (without any mods) :p.

The interior shots aren't looking all that sharp.

Maybe they're just bad captures, because these screens look a lot muddier than the earlier ones.

As long as my save does not corrupt half way through my playthrough I have nothing to complain about.

I can agree with some people who've said these shots are reminiscent of Oblivion, judging from the E3 footage (on console) I'm hopeful it will look good in motion.
