"life, death & love from SF" might be my favorite.

Yeah, that Coltraine sample is what brings it out.

Well, it's safe to say this is better than Lasers, but that's not saying much.

- Life, Death & Love from San Francisco
- Double Burger w/ Cheese
- SLR (Not anything new.)
- Supercold
- Joaquin Phoenix
- The End of the World (minus the brief Occupy Wallstreet mention)

Are my favorite cuts.

The genre is unclassifiable.

Lol Lupe.

So far I like it.

I expect a more rock sound from Lupe nowadays...this is the god kind of rock feel.

I was kinda disappointed with this mixtape. Lupe still hasn't topped anything since he leaked out Go to Sleep.

Go to Sleep > Lasers + FOTP

Listened to the whole thing and yeah it's good...if unremarkable.

I probably will phase a few songs out of my rotation until there is maybe one or two left.

Got to give it a few extra spins of course, But it's good.

Better than Lasers? not that hard to do but right now I can't say that. Like Lasers off of one listen it's okay...Lasers didn't fail until I realized that I only liked 3-4 songs off of it.(I wil lsay Lasers gets some extra hate just cuz it's not F&L or The Cool..it' mediocre not complete trash like many say).

It's okay. That's find by me since it's free.

I gotta give it a few extra spins tho.

lupe needs some fucking guidance.

namely an executive producer that will tell him to shove all his stupid ideas up his fucking ass and rap over rap beats instead of all these stupid half-brained concepts.

he's quickly becoming one of the great disappointments in rap for me.

Bout to go see J Cole @ Bristol Academy in a bit. I got high hopes for it, should be live!

Anyone else seen him perform? Decent?

I agree. He fucked up not signing with Jay. He had dinner with Jay and Nas and could have been the next big thing.

Lyrically... Lupe still got it tho.

Lupe back
You can stick that 360 between your asscheeks
Artists let's mobilize and unionize like the athletes
Radio is making our craft weak
Forced to repeat the same dumb shit that work
Only as hot as your last beat
And rappers, they relating to that last piece
Album never leave they desk if you don't got no
Sacrifice your publishin', they said you really need a hook
And they ain't gon' pay you, said that you received a look
And what's stupid real, is what producers feel
Twenty placements or you stuck in that producer deal
And
All they money goes to hairdressers and stylists
Gotta keep up with that image
Label lose they mind if they ever see a blemish
Proactive impeals, airbrushers and trainers
Managers suggest you fuck a nigga to be famous, huh
But it's all entertainment
Wonder when Cobain blew out his brains, did he blame it?
And if those snakes in the industry helped him aim it
Started pressin' up records before the bullet left the chamber
I fight evil, everyday I'm livin'
Rest in peace to men, women and the children
And middle fingers to the Pilgrims that killed 'em
Friend of the People, happy Thanksgiving

The lyrics and flow arent the problem though. Its the production.

That said, I think this mixtape is fucking awesome. Some real good stuff here.

Yeah...I'm keeping 2 tracks from this Lupe tape around, everything else is getting binned. Dudes officially whatever to me now.

Dubste stupidity aside, this tape is really damn good. Especially coming off of Lasers. The only track i really dont like is Friend Of The People. Double Burger with Cheese and Joaquin Phoenix are up there with his best, IMO.

Stop lying to yourself. I bet if that was V-nasty with the same rhymes, you be hating.

V-Nasty wished she could spit Lupe's worst lines. I dont get why you are hating on his rhymes on this one, they are nice.

/Shrug

Lupe tape is good, I'm keeping 7 of the songs.

Lupe need to get off that dubstep though.

it's certainly...different.

I'm 10 tracks in. I don't think I'm going to be spinning this one much. But it's an interesting concept as a whole. I see these rhymes are fresh too (new). Even mentioned Jerry Sandusky. I can imagine some of these getting mixed in at local clubs.

Nice to you, disgusting to me. Homeboy always been overrated, like the Buffalo Bills this season.

I'm as surprised as you are. I was planning on writing up a nice hate filled post about it. But I can't. Lupe is still a fucking idiot and a tool, but I enjoyed it. We shall see how long it holds up though. I have a feeling I'll get sick of it fast.

Or maybe working on that track with Recon gave me some kind of weird Lupe disease that I'll have to go get penicillin for.

He should learn how to play the guitar, and get it over with. Homeboy wants to do indie rock sooooooooooo bad, is not even funny. Get out of Hip-Hop, Lupe. Belle and Sebastian, might need you.

Lupe isn't a guy that would fuck around with B&S...I think a band like Bloc Party might be more his style.

But, Bloc Party is actually good.....All jokes aside, Lupe would do very well on some Tricky shit. With those trip-hop beats, he would kill.

You just insulted Belle & Sebastian, the scottish wunderkinds... YOU SHALL DIE!

Death by a rolled up copy of Spin magazine shall do it.

He is on some type of dubstep kick. I only found the first two songs to be bad, production wise. But yeah, fuck dub step in its ass.

I don't dislike dubstep per se but I'd like to have my hip-hop as dubstep free as possible, thank you very much. Laptop broke down while listening to it (maybe it's a sign) so I gotta download it on my other PC to listen to the rest... This better be worth it.

This is great shit. Don't let the terrible rapper guest spot in the first track throw you off. This is a top notch instrumental album. Put that shit on in the background while you cook your turkey, you bitches.

Hassan Mackey is not terrible by any means, you listen to Daily Bread?

Also dubstep can be good:

Sepalcure - Fleur EP ~ Fleur

Hyetal - Broadcast ~ Searchlight

Desolate - Invisible Insurrection ~ Divinus

ESKMO - ESKMO ~ Cloudlight

Kode 9 & Spaceape - Black Sun ~ Black Sun

Martyn - Great Lengths ~ Hear Me

Gold Panda - Companion ~ Fifth Ave
