If that's the case, they've got quite a ways to go if they really expect the game to be out by the latter half of 2012.

Haha. Wasn't that the extra shitty JP version? I remember that they "fixed" it for the US release to be slightly less shitty (but shitty nevertheless).
Don't know why, but I'm optimistic about FF XIII-2.
XIII feels like there was a good game in there SOMEWHERE, and judging by interviews, Square Enix knows what went wrong development-wise. The postmortem revealed that XIII was just a victim of horrible planning (or no planning), and I'd like to think they've at least gotten that together for XIII-2.

This should be more like "FF13 is fail but I will still buy FF13-2". Cause that's my stance.
Try it for yourself! It's on pretty much every major platform (Wii, PS3, PSP, iOS) under the sun by now.

Nice FF XIII-2 score! I know people say Famitsu scores mean nothing, but browsing over their list of 40/40 scores I have to say that many of my favorite games of all time are there. Can't say many of them were undeserved.
Now if only Feb 2012 would come faster so I can get my FF fix.

Hm, was impressed for a second, but they gave Lord of Arcana straight 8's. Might check this one out.
That's what I'm sayin'. All their recent 40/40 games have still been excellent games. Top tier even, even if the recent ones aren't the milestones that Ocarina of Time and Soul Calibur were.

No it isn't. It definitely looks inspired by it, though. This is a game made by SEGA Japan, Kingdom Conquest is a game made by the west.
Comparing it to the scans (that someone has smeared with several layers of vaseline), yeah, they look very similar.
Assume they're adding stuff, but, uh... hope this game doesn't ask a full retail price.
L.A. Noire didn't get a 40, and I haven't played it.
There's free to play games on Vita...
Samurai & Dragons doesn't look to be a straight port of that game anyways. Seems more heavily inspired as the art and gameplay from the vaseoline o vision scans are different. But yeah, uber disappointing.

For those not in the know, a perfect score from Famitsu means your game is DOPE. Only the best of the best get that score, and this means FFXIII-2 is a part of HISTORY now! What does the review say? You say this as if people didn't think FFXIII-2 could be that good. I always thought it was going to be.
Unless this post is meant to say that the sequel being 40/40 somehow vindicates the original XIII from being trash, which well...it doesn't. It's still the worst FF ever made and one of the worst games this gen.
That Samurai & Dragons game sounds like it's going to play like the original Actraiser. If that is the case, I'm so in.
haha well, if you only take into consideration their perfect scores: Vagrant Story, FFXII, and DQVIII ARE great games.
edit: but yeah, if you take their 39 scores into the picture then there are some duds.

What's there to discuss? There's a reason why I stopped translating and posting threads about Famitsu reviews years ago, and there's a reason why the Japanese guys posting Famitsu news don't even transcribe or summarize the review text anymore. No one cares. It's really pointless.

Wouldn't surprise me. They have similar art styles and the exact same premise (action co-op with city building elements). Anyone with an iOS device can play it for free - good luck understanding any of it though, as it's the most frustratingly obtuse game I've ever played.
OMG that sounds like Dark Cloud?!? Please be at least half as good as DC, gaaawd. Super excited.
