Oh shit, thanks!

Also yeah I was thinking of those area concepts, the ones that look very dark. You can skip out on the character concepts. Though I would love to see a close up of the Hero's Spirit art that's in there.

Also can you take pictures of the Oracles of Ages/Seasons concept art? From what I understand there's supposed to be a drawing of Twinrova in it.

I wonder who the 2nd sketch down on the right is?

Almost looks like an alternate Link.

Posted this in the timeline thread but I'm gonna bump this thread too -

Some translations of Hyrule Historia that makes some things clear: http://forums.zeldainformer.com/threads/hyrule-historia-translations.8624/

Some notes:

  • Oracle of Season -> Oracle of Ages is confirmed.
  • Twinrova from Oracles is the one who raised Ganondorf.
  • Ganondorf from Four Swords Adventure really is a reincarnation of Ganondorf.
  • The Triforce is obtained by the Royal Family after Twilight Princess.
  • The Minish Cap and Four Swords take place in the same era but feature a different Link and Zelda. The backstory featured in Four Swords about Vaati kidnapping maidens is a different event from The Minish Cap, despite featuring a previous Link.
And many more things, including fleshing out previously established backstories.

Maybe the Termina equivalent?

EDIT: They need to use that Ganondorf, very Disney-looking.

So I just saw that the book confirms that the Hero's Shade in TP is indeed Link from OOT.

Nah, he didn't turn into a Stalfos, it's, like, his regret or something...

Here's what Zelda Informer says...

時の勇者子孫リンク Link, the descendant of the Hero of Time
When Link first set foot in the Twilight, the crest of the Triforce of Courage shined on the back of his hand; when he returned to human-form he wore clothes the hero wore. Link is taught mysteries from the ghost of the hero of time. Since he returned to his childhood, he'd felt regret that he would leave his name as hero. Therefore, the "son" of Link speaks proof of the courage, and the mystery he inheirited.

So, like, he's aware that he never became a hero in his timeline, since he became a kid again, so he wants the TP Link to inherit his courage.

He also said this in Twilight Princess:

"Although I accepted life as the hero, I could not convey the lessons of that life to those that came after. At last, I have eased my regrets."

That was the reason there was such speculation that he was the Hero of Time, sent back to the timeline where he was never a hero.

That's cool. Thanks for the heads up.

I always had the sneaking suspicion he was a former Link, but there wasn't ever really a connection.

Makes you wonder what happened to him after Majora's Mask, to be wearing the armor that he has.

I can't believe how many people (particularly on Zelda boards) are surprised that the Hero's Shade is the Hero of Time. I always thought it was pretty obvious.

OoT Link really does have the crappiest destinies.

Its a bit of a tragedy. In one timeline he is seen as a great hero, the other he is nothing but a shade of his former self living in regret and in the last one he fails. You could say that the Hero of time never had a happy ending.

Damn I wish this thing was in English.

The art is wonderful. They put a lot of work into some very small details.

Apparently Zora were briefly considered for Skyward Sword, but dropped for the squid things (Aww.... why'd they do that?) They also considered Zora that were a bit less human liked that looked cool, in the context of the art style.

They also came up with some crazy designs for gorons.

The Levias page did not reference the Wind Fish, much to my disapointment. It did have something at the bottom about Jabun from WW, but I can't read it.

Scans of the entire book are out. I won't link them but they're there. The only thign that isn't fully scanned is the non-SS artwork.

They took a LOT out of Skyward Sword especially when it came to the various races in the series. The designs for the Gorons and Kikwi are much better in this book than in the game.

Edit: Oops guess I was a bit too late, lol! But still yeah, it's out now.

Yeah, Meloras site is down (HistoryofHyrule.com) but there is some info in Zelda Dungeons in the comments section. I hope that helps you.

Bought one at 2AM last night. Keep checking, though to be honest you're really not saving that much going through Amazon.jp versus eBay; shipping to the US was around $40.

Can you buy on from Amazon.jp and have it shipped to the US? If so how? Whenever I try to register I have to put in all the prefecture stuff :\

just kidding, figured it out and ordered!

When you register and it's wanting to put in your address, there is a Kanji (?) link at the top. If you're at Amazon.co.jp and viewing it "in English" it will say "Or try" before the link. Click that, and you can register with a different type of address.

Thanks anyway :)

but holy shit, they want 40€ for shipping to Germany. Why can't I choose anything else besides International express? :/

I'm not sure it's been mentioned yet, but I thought it was interesting that, on the translated page about (TP spoilers)
Ganon's death at the end of Twilight Princess
, there is a strong insinuation that the ramifications of the clash between the Light and Twilight worlds will affect "future eras." Obviously Midna
destroyed the Mirror of Twilight
in order to prevent any communication, but I wonder if EAD will return to that time branch for future games.

And ordered!

Says in stock on Feb 6th currently. Ordered two copies, so it comes out to just under $65 each.
It would cost me $80 total to get it to Oklahoma. I don't think I can justify it after the near $200 I've spent on Zelda related stuff this year.

I might have pulled the trigger if shipping wasn't more than the book.

I'd love to see the rest of the twilight princess concept art from inside pages 139-274. It seems finding anything past page 138 is difficult.
