Well if it was Ashley(which it isn't) then I assume it's because the dude killed or has something to do with the presidents death. Maybe she chases after him for answers or something, if that president is her father.

I see something very similar to RE5 (actually maybe improving certain aspects). Leon's parts probably will have a distinct feel to satisfy the horror fans, but it's going to be more akin to RE5.

How the hell does this series even resemble Resident Evil anymore? Capcom could have swapped Leon and Chris for any other random protagonists and we would be absolutely none the wiser that this has anything to do with the series. Come the fuck on, Capcom. Zombified anything is scary, (insert race) with red pupils with torches and pitch forks are just not. Also why do I get the impression they canned the new CG movie and used its script, setting and characters and chopped it into the first half of this game. Would also explain why his clothing looks so similar to Degeneration, I could be wrong (likely am) but given the stark differences it seems possible.

It is. We can safely put it in the Gears of War genre, not the Dead Space genre. I'm sure it'll sell better than any other entry in the series, which is obviously their intention, but they really shouldn't retain any pretensions about what the franchise is about now. The word horror doesn't belong there at all.
Resistance 2 was more frightening than Resident Evil 5.

For me the dialogue of RE4 Leon was the best part. He was a perfect combination of nonchalant douche and action hero. RE6 Leon, while we've barely seen anything of him, seems far more serious, but then the whole franchise started taking itself too seriously once Mikami fucked off. I remain hopeful that he gets some quips and tongue-in-cheek stuff to do.
She was already 20 in RE4.

This doesn't look anything like RE5 in the ways that matter.
I'll just break it down for everyone:
RE5 didn't suck because it had a lot of shooting. The action was more or less the same as RE4. RE5 sucked because it had zero atmosphere in a series that has been all about atmosphere.
RE5:
- Takes place mostly in daylight
- Has you shooting the same voodoo enemies for most of the game
- Doesn't really have a lot of monsters
- Rips off its biggest set piece from the Uncharted series
Judging by this trailer, RE6:
- Takes place mostly at night
- Has a shit ton of monsters
- Returns to the collapsing urban feel of RE2/3
- Has claustrophobic hallways and much better set pieces than RE5

Survival horror, solving puzzles, AVOIDING zombies instead of punching them in the face - see how much of that applies to Michael Bay's vision of RE in the trailer shown.
Why do people want this when there are already enough games like it? What is the appeal, I mean seriously, you realise you're cheering for more of the same thing that exists in a form that most developers now aim for, rather than an original experience right?
I thought Racoon City was supposed to be the lame generic action shooter yet this looks about the same.

watch the first minute and fifteen of the trailer again. don't watch any more.
i know this won't satisfy people who want slow paced horror (though, Revelations... mainline RE coming out in two weeks...), but RE6 looks much faster paced and over the top than Gears.
I watched the trailer, then I read the details. I'm okay with this. I was never a fan of Takeuchi's comments about totally reimagining or rebooting the series. I'm glad they decided to delay (or abandon) those plans instead to give fans another me-too entry in the franchise with the characters we love. No, that's not meant to be sarcasm.
Shanghai looks pretty great. Not too keen on Leon's new design so far, but at least he didn't turn into a monster like Chris. So it seems like we'll be seeing Leon, Ashley, Chris, Ada, Rebecca, and not-Wesker in the game at least? Not bad for a start.

Game looks idiotic, extremely idiotic and obviously borrows from games everyone is borrowing from...as if RE5 wasn't enough. So it also looks generic. It's a thing of beauty, watching this giant meta game be created when every dev out there slowly meets in the middle of the room, offering absolutely nothing and yet borrowing everything.

Well to be fair, he was about to have to shoot a man he considered a close friend. That would put the "srs bizness" face on just about anybody; I doubt even a eternal wiseass like Nate Drake would be lighthearted in that scenario.
