The Art of Mass Effect outs two more ME3 squadmates (spoilers)

There's a difference between certain things being sexual and EVERY THING being sexual. It's like a 14 year old's deviantart harem.

Sexuality is a part of human and most creatures' nature. No one ever complains when the majority of a game contains violence and dismemberment like it's some kind of cool thing to partake in. But God forbid the minute something is sexualized.

And like others have said, the sexualization of the characters are mostly in the background and only appears when the situation calls for it. 99% of the game will still be corridor shooter where gamers can pretend that they are cool space Jesus out to save the universe.

Not when it comes to crew members.

Well, let's see:

The romances in ME1 were done quite tastefully in my opinion:

-Nothing about Ashley or Kaidan was over sexualized. They weren't made into prostitutes and flaunted throughout the game.
-Tali certainly wasn't sexualized, unless...you're attracted to her visor and webbed feet.
-Wrex...no
-Garrus...no
-Liara...Yes, but there was a lot more to her character, unless you choose to just focus on the sex part.

ME2:
-Jack...nothing sexy at all about her (to me at least lol)
-Miranda...of course
-Kasumi...no
-Tali...not really sexed up in my opinion, but they did add her as a romance this time
-Jacob...yes
-Samara...yes, but it makes sense in the lore (matriarchs' breasts as a sign of some endearing seduction or some such)
-Garrus...no
-Thane...no
-Zaeed...no
-Mordin...no
-Grunt...no
-Legion...no

Am I missing anyone?

So out of 17 squadmates, only about 5 of them were sexed up so to speak.

As far as I am concerned Mass Effect is about deflowering unrealistic humanoids. In ME1 the goal was to deflower the school girl cosplaying as a star wars character. In ME2 the goal was to (finally) deflower the recently-of-age muslim girl with a skin condition that makes her truly "untouched". In ME3 the goal will be to steal Marus Fenix's anal virginity.

Just spoiled this shit to all my FB friends. The plot in these games is fucking stupid. I just wanted a fun space rpg when i started ME1.

Sorry to disappoint, but they're not. At best, its temporary squadmates or just npcs for sidequests. From what i've heard so far, havent read all the script leaks. Seems like all the permanent squadmates are ME1 or new characters.
That's a bummer.

Good point. I don't see the characters being over sexualized.

wow, you are so cool & hip.

Attention sci-fi writers and character designers! Not all huminoid robods HAVE to be made out of metal.

It's not very light and it serves no purpose.

Edi as a
companion annoys me. It may have potential, but as of now I think its contrived. I'm indifferent to
the Prothean
, but he better have a damn good backstory.

EDIT: Bah, sorry about that. Thanks for the save mystery mod.

Are you fucking kidding me?

God, that is so dumb.

And why is that ?

Not when it comes to GAF and Bioware. I honestly think most people here really LOVED Bioware so much in the past, that's why they do take it so damn seriously.

I'm a spurned lover, and interestingly enough its over a single mission in Mass Effect 2. Jesus christ if I could get an entire game with the level of quality of the Garrus Recruitment while also being a fairly open RPG I would sing its praises from the high hills. They took me so high, and then dropped me down a pit.

You know, i wonder why we're bothering to spoiler all that. I mean, its a spoiler thread about unknown squadmates! If you clicked on this thread, you were curious and wanted to know who they were!

Indeed this is true. Well spread the word then! =D

Since there is so many ME3 threads, i dont really know where to ask it, but...

i know they said the Citadel in ME3 would be bigger than ever, but have they shown anything of it yet?

Nope. I'm assuming we have the Presidum and a couple of wards at least. Though "Bigger than ever" only needs to be a bit bigger than either ME1/2 Citadel (which one was larger?).
I really wouldn't put much weight on BW marketing speak.

I know, their "bigger than ever" will probably be bigger than ME2, smaller than ME1, but have more sidequests & merchants than both previous games. It will still be bigger, but just in term of stuff to do. You can't really make bigger than ME1 without needing a bunch of "teleports" in every corners or having long tedious walks.

EDI and fluff text to make this tag not so short
confirmed == GOTY/Shitmountainrrepeated!

I'm not really bothered by this but I guess I just don't care as much as everyone else or something. Curious if they'll suck in combat. Or if it'll even matter if they suck in combat, I guess.

This is great.

Oh this thread is so funny, all the extreme negative assumptions, specially the ones concerning #1 being romanceable,
are wrong
.

In any case, yeah, #1 is arguably the least liked thing about the leaks.

Prothean: Looks dope, hope he has a cool story/voice actor.

EDI: Just stay on the ship...

The new multiplayer trailer: Looks sick and I wasn't even excited for the MP before this. Is split-screen play possible with this mode?

Edit:
ALSO, requesting a GIF of the new MP trailer from 1:17-1:20 (with the Krogan).
PLEASE :)

I've said it before, I'll say it again: with Mass Effect 3Bioware only seems to want to appeal to kick-ass 'splosion-filled action junkies and those weird fucks on their forums.

Let's not kid ourselves. This squad member is here for one reason and one reason only:
to make Joker x EDI fantards on Bioware forums squee

so pissed Miranda isn't even in the game. I switched my love interest to her in ME2 from Liara, and now I have to be a player and go to someone else. Probably Jack.

but not as a squadmate/romance option right?

Bioware said you'll be able to continue all the romances in ME3. From the leaked script it made it sound like she wouldn't be a squadmate, but remember that script was final and it definitely made it sound like scenes were missing from it concerning Miranda soo...take that what you will.

This is a good post, I don't understand why people get so worked up about it. No one complains about all the sex/sexualised characters in The Witcher series.

Right on. And nobody complains about the sexualization of characters in tons of other games which treat relationships/sexuality in much less of a mature manner than Mass Effect does.

GAF's venom for Bioware has gotten unbelievable.

Joker has to get some too plus its possible Shepard needs to add to his list (a step closer to being Kirk) :p

Not sure if posted yet, but some stats on
EDI's
abilities/powers? From BSN.
AVPen wrote...
Yes, EDI definitely a Tech class - her power loadout is listed as consisting of:
- Overload
- Decoy
- Incinerate
- Defense Matrix

As it's name suggests, "Decoy" creates a decoy to draw enemies attention (it's sorta like a combat drone, but without any offensive capabilities until it's later evolution Ranks), while "Defense Matrix" is a new armor power that decreases damage and will boosts your shields when you detonate the power.

Interesting, did they say whether or not it'll be a full party member or if it'll be a DLC extra like Kasumi and Zaeed and not actually have any real character development/interaction.

I think based off the leaked script and postings on Bioware's forums, it'll be a full party member.
