I'd rather the 3DS get its own RE game.
Oh wait.
:p

Let me amend my statement by saying it would be cool... if the online was cross-platform.

I would guess any new console Monster Hunter would most likely go to Wii U, as well.

I was thinking aloud earlier it would be funny if Wii U got the G version of Monster Hunter 4. Completely flipping the series around.

I think Capcom intends to keep Monster Hunter portable only for now, though. It's far more profitable.

MH4G for sure.

Much like 3DS I expect Nintendo to get the important games from Japanese 3rd parties with no problem, especially if they're working directly with them (Like that Sonic Dimension rumor).

How crazy would it be if Nintendo pulled a Microsoft and started the conference with a GTAV trailer or demo.

That would send a fucking strong message

Is it weird for me to be lukewarm on the series but still want to see Nintendo make a strong suggestion with an action like this?

Agreed, I'd rather it was Spector walking out and announcing Ultima Underworld 3 Wii U exclusive. Followed by Gabe walking out and dropping a HL3 bomb and announcing full Steam support. In the first ten minutes of the conference brick will be shat.

But GTAV works too.

Stop trying to destroy the internet...

More like TGS, just like MH4 last year.

I was talking about the Nintendo co developed Sonic Dimensions.

A Sonic game with Nintendo handling would be a Sonic game worth having.

I also think it would be awesome for Nintendo to buy the rights to Mega Man, and unveil a trailer for MM11 (or rebooted Universe).

Or MML3.
>_>

Who's trying to destroy the internet now! :p

The hype for a announcement like that in Nintendo's hands would be total epic. It would also guarantee his place in Smash. Now I'm wondering with how Capcom has abandoned Mega Man all of a sudden, could there already have been talks about Nintendo wanting the IP? Just speculation but interesting.

No, they just couldn't find a western c-tier dev who could ruin it and piss-off the fanbase, so they decided to piss off their fans in a more old-fashioned way, cancel it.

Man I hope that Sonic Dimensions rumor comes to pass.

That would be an instant buy for me (if the rumors of deep Nintendo involvement are also true, that is)

And give it to Retro so they can make Megaman Returns.
I don't really get the Retro love. Haven't they only made Donkey Kong Returns and the Metroid Prime series (with heavy handholding by Miyamoto which included changing decisions Retro had made)? In the end those two products were decent quality, but in my mind that's not enough to keep asking for Retro Studios to make game X or franchise Y. Just ask for *Nintendo* to make those games, rather than one small part of Nintendo.

In their shortspan of making games, they made 2 killer apps(Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country Returns) with one(Metroid Prime) being one of the best games of all time...............at least to me.

Their only other games(Metroid Prime Echoes and Prime 3) were very good and good.

They also did a nice job on the retro tracks of Mario Kart 7.

They're both underrated(people saying they haven't done anything or that Nintendo held their hands during them) and overrated(they haven't made enough games) at the same time.

Yeah basically, one doesn't need to look further than Retro's line-up before they were made part of Nintendo to see that they aren't a Godly team by themselves, SPD group 3 (the team that oversees development of western developed first party games) doesn't get nearly enough credit. This also brings me to people wanting them to make Zelda, I wish these people realized that Retro Zelda really wouldn't be that different, as development would be overseen by the Japanese teams anyway.

Right, but Retro is Nintendo.
So of course Nintendo will oversee a Nintendo game.
And it doesn't matter, because they still output superb quality products with a western flair to them.
That is why people love Retro.

I feel like while GTA V is the biggest, there are so many games that haven't been on a Nintendo home console in a long time that would have similar reactions.

If they started with like Final Fantasy XV or Versus XIII
Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty (while on the Wii, let's be honest no one really counted it)
Kingdom Hearts
GTA
Burnout Paradise 2 (okay, I'm just wishing here!)
Metal Gear Rising or MGS 5
Etc

Ok, here's my crazy Wii U game concept.

Basically a more action oriented DOTA. Third person view on the TV with an overhead map and item management displayed on the controller.

Online battles against AI creeps and player heroes of many classes and varieties, like DOTA.

DOTA really is a winning formula. Make it more action oriented, put the primary camera behind your hero, maybe throw in an XP lvling system and next gen graphics and I think you've got something special.

TL;DR

DOTA

Retro hasn't really had a misstep in their development career yet. Even if you are not a fan of the games, its pretty easy to see why so many people like what they've done. The Metroid Prime trilogy is pure quality, all 3 games are loved by fans and critics. Same goes for DK Country Returns. It seems like a mistake to credit Retro for the MP series as only one game, they made 3 great games and it can be hard at times for some devs to really stay that consistent in quality throughout a trilogy.

It's an easy way (cop) out to say Nintendo was more responsible for the design of Prime than Retro.

There's a reason Nintendo entrusted that particular group with that game.

I haven't heard they(Nintendo) were as active in Prime 2 and while not as classic as the first one, it was topnotch quality as well.

Donkey Kong Country Returns, while a reimagining, assured me that Retro is versatile and legitimately understands game design.

I'd be shocked if they made a unique IP(or whatever their next game is) that was lackluster.

Pretty much impossible, honestly.
Even though they've lost high ranking people (but then, what western studio hasn't?), they've been hiring just as good of people to replace them.
And with NCL lending their support, there's just no way it'll be anything less than stellar. Regardless of what it is.
One of the biggest things that makes Retro's games so awesome is their insane attention to detail. You can see this in all their games. The texture and modeling work is superb (human faces after MP1 not withstanding), and all the little things that bring their worlds to life is just astounding.
There's a reason why so many people want Retro to work on so many high profile games. It's because they've proven that they can do it, and not only do it well, but can really enhance it over the original source material.

If you personally could have your choice of what genre or series they do next, what to you would bring out their talents the most(of course suiting your own agenda)???

Honestly, an adventure game.
I want them to create a bold living world, much like Monolith with Xenoblade.
Of course, I've championed a new StarTropics, but it's not just because I enjoyed the source material, it's because I really think Retro could pull the franchise into the modern era.
Even barring that, just any adventure series with a huge world would be amazing from them. I dunno if that's what they'll do, but I'd love it.

Maybe I am biased(like them but not as much as something like you just commented on) but I don't want them to do a racing game.

I'd want a more ambitious type deal like an adventure game or if it's a racing game or shooter, then at least have some adventure elements if possible.

If they do an F-Zero, it'd probably be a great game but seem like a waste to me.

Agreed.
Nintendo has other studios that can handle a racing game just fine (like NST and Monster).
Retro's abilities are far better suited to adventure and action type games.

Of course, all I meant was that people shouldn't think Retro would make some sort of fantastic Zelda reboot that would be infinitely better than the EAD ones, and that SPD 3 deserves more credit, as a lot of the time it's they who steer NLG, Monster and Retro in the right direction. I don't mean to discredit Retro in the slightest, I love them as much as anyone here.

In interviews I read before DKC returns came out and on Iwata asks it seems Retro were kinda lost before Nintnedo directed them on how to make a Donkey Kong game. Apparently they wanted the graphics to look super realistic and have a serious, proper story in it. Also I saw some concept art Retro did for Mario Kart 7 and again, it looked realistic and not at all fitting to Mario world. Nintendo has made Retro look alot better than they are, they definately heavily influence what they do. They are not the next Rare as some people have likened them to, but with Nintendo they do still make quality games

Which is really why Retro needs to work on something like Star Tropics or even Metroid again.
They did great on DKCR, but they have the talent to make these more realistic games that EAD won't do. And it would be perfect for their Wii U agenda.
But yes, after Rare, it's very clear Nintendo took a much more active role in all the studios they work with.

That's strange because Retro(admitted by Nintendo themselves) know those games inside and out as they were always huge fans.

But that's certainly possible, Retro's vision might have had to be refocused by Nintendo.

I mean after all, they are a Western developer and there's no way Nintendo would let them fully Westernize their biggest games.

I thought Kensuke Tanabe was brought in to Retro to keep things in shape.

Retro has had a troubled decade, they lost a lot of talent during the GameCube era.
