Rarest Game You Own?

Megaman Legends 2? (i had no idea this game was so expensive, just took a quick look at ebay and amazon)

Of course, Megaman Legends 1/2 are never coming to PSN, so that probably contributes to the prices.

Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner?

I want this game so bad, I wish I would have never chosen the Mario Hat over it. :( If the Wii to Wii U transferring works similarly to DSi to 3DS transferring, I'd seriously pay or trade someone to let me take the game off of their Wii, lol.

As far as my rarest game...I'm really not sure. I see people are saying both Metroid Prime: Trilogy and Tetris DS are pretty rare now, and I own both. And I have two Pokémon mini games, Pokémon Party mini and Pokémon Zani Cards.

Rygar 8 Bit

yeah legends one and two are worth quite a bit $40-45 for one and $85-90 for two

Rare? Nothing too much.

Gundam Sidestory for Dreamcast is probably the rarest i have. A copy of Spiderman 2: enter electro for ps1 with the world trade center still in (it was edited out after 9/11) is probably also fairly rare.

Anything else rare i have is probably because no one would actually want it. Its probably hard to find the PS1 inuyasha fighting game, but really, who would want it?

Zelda: Twilight Princess E3 2005 trailer for DS.
And this...I remember wanting this really bad awhile back. Now even more so I could have it in my 3DS's Activity Log. XD

Anyone know how often these turn up on eBay or other sites? I just looked and didn't see any available at the moment, not sure exactly how rare they are but apparently they usually go for around $140-150.

And even i am moderately surprised
I own a one off game made for my by the Tokyopia crowd - not sure that counts! lol

beyond that - rarest would have been something like Eliminate Down, Iron Commando, Rendering Ranger, Cannon Dancer, Tobe! Polystars! , Magic Girl, or something along those lines but almost anything rare i've sold.

I still have Border Down, Panzer Dragoon Saga etc but i don't particularly think those are really -rare-. If you want them, you can get them (actually - same for most the ones i listed anyways so ....)

Marty's however is catagorically rare - I assume Marty is on Shou's list of owners lol.

Not incredibly rare or valuable but I had a hard time finding it even when it was in print.

Snk vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium for the Neo-geo pocket color.

I could always find the damn card game but when it came to the fighting game, it was tough to find. Still is, if you're looking for the full package (US version).

The rarest games I own are probably Final Fantasy II and III for SNES, Earthbound, a non-functional Super Mario RPG cartridge, Gradius III, Street Fighter Alpha 2 (PAL, complete with box, manual and everything), Ikaruga (GC), Metal Gear Solid TTS and Skies of Arcadia Legends.
And Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia,

Also I'm not sure but could it be that Prince of Persia The Two Thrones for GameCube is pretty rare (at least in PAL territories)? I'm looking for it for ages and have only ever found the PS2 version.

Glancing around, looks like the most valuable might be my copy of Metal Gear Solid 1 for PC

Looks like most prices are $30-50, with some loons asking $100-150.

It's not worth much, and I have no clue how many copies sold...

Major League Baseball 2K5: World Series Edition (the re-release after 2K/Sega had lost the ESPN license)

I still feel it's the best baseball game available (I purchase The Show every season; doesn't feel as good), and it's a shame it's not backward compatible on the 360.

I just took whatever people mentioned that I happened to own. Never really felt any of it was rare or anything, but the price on that component cable surprised me.

Oh wow that is definitely cool :)
That is how it is in the Famicom version yes. Do you know if it also has the Famicom character designs as well? Because they changed a couple of the main characters' sprites for the western release, including the guy you start out with. I assume not, but that would be really cool and actually drive up the price of that prototype quite a lot among collectors I would imagine :)

Always nice to see a PCB that actually fills up an entire NES cart as well. :D
Yeah, it is probably close to the final ROM of the NES version, but i always can check. What is the difference between the characters?

Whomever thought that was a good idea needed to be slapped. Blister packs are a spawn of Satan.
Hehe, to open the blister packs can be a pain indeed, but i actually really like how those NES blister packs looks :) It is good for collection purposes.

Accurate
For the record he was asking about the Panzer Dragoon Orta themed Xbox console, not just the game. Pretty sure they were only for Japan, no idea what the run quantity was.

And my rarest item is probably Panzer Dragoon Saga, 1st pressing. Bought it at release, completely clueless of its rarity at the time.

1000 units, I have one sealed

This is what the charcters look like in the western release:

To the right here is how Bop-louie looked in the Japanese version:

I can't find a good gameplay picture of the other dude, but that red/orange dragon character was changed from some sort of cat character. Here's the japanese title screen with all the characters:

Cool :) I just checked and there isnt any different in the character, at least for Bop Louie. I do think i've beaten this prototype cart a few years ago if i remember correctly, and i cant remember to see any difference in that dragon character either. So this is probably the final ROM sent for certification, but then something was censored. I have another NES prototype like this, Formula 1 Sensastion. In the prototype, this game has the undertitle "Race with the Devil", but this was removed in the retail version.

Ok, that's what I thought. I do wonder why they decided to change the characters like that but I suppose that decision was made even before they started converting it for PAL. Hebereke was kind of a brand character for Sunsoft in Japan, so it's weird they didn't try to make him one in the west too.

Hahaha no wonder :D

I've never really been interested in collecting prototypes myself, but things like these make me understand why people would do it.

It's a shame that it's so difficult to know how rare something is. Obviously that isn't the same as 'how valuable'.

Like, somehow I suspect my copy of Pretty Fighter X on the Saturn is rarer than my two EU copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga, but it's also probably pretty worthless.

Some other oddities:

Giftpia (GC JP)
Homeland (GC JP) (the beta version of this is of course much rarer, I don't have that)
Cubivore (GC US)
Chulip (US PS2)
Mojib Ribbon (JP PS2)
Space Channel 5 (PAL PS2)
Space Channel 5 part 2 (PAL/AUS PS2)
SOS The Final Escape (French only box/manual PAL PS2)

edit: oh, and my GBA is relative uncommon:
gba-toy2.jpg

Any of these actually rare?

What's the definition of rare.

Many items i'm seeing here are available on ebay.
And if you have the money nothing is rare :)

Suikoden II (PSX) and Ninja Five-0 (GBA). I also have Radiant Historia for DS. Not sure if any of may NES games are rare so not mentioning them.

I have a copy of the unedited/non-recalled version LittleBigPlanet that still has that amazing song with Arabic verses from the Quran in it.

Link to song.

I got a prerelease copy before all copies were recalled back. I guess it's rare.

So in other words, this is the only game that you own? :)

Maybe they thought some of the figures would be more appealing in the west somehow if they changed them. Same reason for why the name of the game was also changed.

Hahaha no wonder :D

Yep, this is what i really like with prototypes and sample carts, to see the difference (if there is any) from the retail version :) I'm not a big prototype collector myself though, that cost too much money for it.

It is just a question of what the rarest game someone has. If someone owns two games, Call of Duty: World at War and Black Ops, then WaW is the rarest game that they own :)

I know what you mean, but money doesnt really define rarity. Rarity is just in relation to other things, how easy or hard it is to come by it.

I have a few rare "things"..

I have a sealed Persona 2 EP. I dunno, but it felt rare, and it was going for a shit ton of money when P3 was released and got popular.

But my 2 rarest items must be my dev Saturn with a prototype controller. They were a gift from Sega to one of my old bosses who worked at Softimage at the time. He didn't care about it and sold it to me for like 100$. The Saturn itself is weird - it's basically a normal Saturn with a hole cut up in front so it can be connected to a dev unit, while the controller is a Genesis controller modded so that the MODE button is the L button and the R button is a long red stick. It's really weird - I'll take a picture when I can and show it.

I don't have much at all. The oldest not-so-common games are probably the most valuable.
I have Pal Mystic Quest for Game Boy with box, manual and the map and Pal Secret of Mana with box, manual and map.

Also for Vic 20 some cartridge versions like Omega Race and some chess game. Had one another, but can't remember the name. But I have no idea if these are rare at all.
