I have to say he impressed me during the Lakers game Friday night. That was one hell of a performance.

I feel bad for him though because Carmelo's coming back soon and he'll play 1 on 5 again.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
After Googling this Lin guy, it appears he graduated from college only with a 3.1 GPA.

What kind of Asian failure does this?

Well, he IS a B-Ball Player. Not an A-Ball Player.

For the love of god this.

Lin's team won't even make the playoffs this year. Let alone win a playoff game. The Tebow comparisons are ridiculous.

Lin brought his team to the 8th seed dude, they'll make the playoffs in the leastern conference. Maybe they'll matchup against the Magic!

So you're saying the Magic will be the 1 seed? Awesome!

Knicks are garbage. Lin is a fraud of the Flip Murray variety. The ride is fun while it lasts, but its not going to last very long.

The nonchalant racism surrounding Lin is pretty amusing too

Not really sure how this is latent racism when most news media outlets have been "nonchalantly" referring to Scalabrine as the "White Mamba" with nary a controversy.

Unless there's some arbitrary distinction between calling a tan Caucasian "white" and a tan Asian "yellow" that I'm missing.

I don't think "Yellow Mamba" is racist.

Not in the context it is used.

Black mamba, white mamba, yellow mamba.

He needs to fix his turnover issues, but he definitely has the skills to be a high level point guard. I'm sure either Carmello or New York will manage to ruin him somehow though.

Yeah his turnovers are a big issue right now. I'm sure he'll learn to control the ball better and make some better decisions on the drive. It will be very interesting to see what happens when Melo comes back.

Jeremy Lin is a player the NBA needs right now. A humble down to Earth person who preaches team and not someone who complains about his contract or that his teammates suck.

He definitely has revived my interest in watching the NBA season play out.

Joke post? It's the same reason why saying George W. Bush looks like a monkey is not the same as saying Barack Obama looks like a monkey.

lol gtfo. There are plenty of players in the NBA who "preach team" and don't complain about their contract. A vast majority, actually. Only they are black.

There are plenty of guys like that.

There's only one asian-american hype machine that can move merchandise like crack across two continents though.

Even an average N.B.A. player can have a great game. Within the past two seasons, players including Jordan Crawford, Hedo Turkoglu and Goran Dragic have recorded a triple-double.The Milwaukee Bucks’ Brandon Jennings scored 55 points in a game in 2009, nearly quadrupling the 15 points per game he scored on average that season.

Brandon Jennings is not an average player.....

You reading way too much into this shit, or is way too sensitive. I'm asian and I have a lot of asian friends, a lot of them are on the Jeremy bandwagon. None of them find this yellow mamba offensive or racist.

Maybe I got the wrong impression that most NBA players come out with an entitlement attitude or other bm of others.

There are few but not as vocal. Then again, Jeremy Lin is only getting heard because the cameras are going towards him from the hype.

Time will tell if Lin is a great.

4 games out of 5 could be a lucky/hot streak.

But if he is great... then he's got the potential to be bigger than jordan.

MSG TV have been showing commercials of Lin non-stop. They're hoping Lin's wave lasts as long as it can cause they're making a killing on the merchandise and tv revenues.

or maybe you (as you kind of admit) are ignorant to the NBA and it's players and shouldn't paint everyone with a broad brush when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Why isn't this just another post in the NBA thread?
Doesn't really matter why, because NBA GAF has come in with their smug attitude, hilarious GIFs, snarky replies, and is just turning this into another sports megathread-style topic, where keyboard jockeys school us plebes on the intricacies of sports strategy and business.

He is the Timbow of the NBA.

Tebow and Lin have nothing in common. Tebow was drafted well ahead of where he should've been taken because of his name alone. Lin was largely ignored because of it. Tebow was never a skilled player and had plenty of other extremely talented players to fall back on during his college career. Lin was the driving force behind his undermanned college team. Tebow was given a shot when he didn't deserve it. Lin got screwed repeatedly until he landed on a team that essentially had nothing to lose by throwing him out there - the Knicks were going to cut him.

thats a pretty broad brush you got there... but i can't say that the NBA didn't deserve this kind of sentiment after the lockout.

Love the Super Lintendo Nickname.

The NBA needed a new fresh player to talk about.

There's plenty of great young talent in the NBA now. They just don't have a massive asian following going and didn't come out of the D-league. People already knew they were good.

oh this shit huh

im out

Sadly, he's not the first person I've heard say something like that.

Did you forget there was a NBA lockout that caused the season to be shortened?

Just speaking from an outsider prospective. Laugh all you want. :)

Huh, so all you need to get noticed in the nba is one good game against the Lakers.

Except it wasn't just one good game. He has scored at least 20 points or more with at least 7 assists per game the last 5 games. Even though he played badly today, he had 20 points with 8 assists.
