1. MGS3; featuring my favorite story and characters of the MGS series, setting and mechanics of the series. Personally I loved sneaking through the forest and wished these sequences were longer.
2. MGS1; Liquid Snake steals the show as my second favorite series villain.
3. MGS:pW; while in smaller chunks, Peace Walker features a ton of gameplay in nice bite sized chunks.

4. MGS4; the first 2 acts really blew me away with their warzone settings and made several gameplay improvements to systems introduced in MGS3.
5. MGS2; I loved the tanker part, the plant part's story got too weird for me.
6. MGS:pO; while I loved it a lot more at launch Portable Ops feels slow and clunky after seeing the gameplay improvements Peace Walker made.

1. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Metal Gear Solid 2
3. Metal Gear Solid 3

This is so close and keep in mind we're dealing with nothing but high AAA games with every single MGS, imo.

It's sad that MGS3 will definitely win this, but it's good to see that so many people realize how fantastic MGS2 was.

Day 1's voting seems to be dying down a bit, so I decided to sample the first 500 votes to see how things are shaping up.

I'm not going to reveal the current standings, for fear that they might influence votes, but I will say that the #1 and #2 positions aren't too far apart in votes. ;)

1. MGS
2. MGS2
3. MGS3

Objectively I think MGS3 is the better game, but MGS2 blew me more away, even with how crazy it was. By the time MGS3 rolled around, the mechanics felt hugely dated. But from a storyline and theme perspective, MGS3 is better.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

I haven't played MGS4, unfortunately. Someday I hope.

1. MGS1; The gameplay is antiquated but the scenario, soundtrack, set pieces and level design are gaming bliss in my eyes. Everything is so well thought out and executed.
2. MGS3; The controls are a little clunky but it's the closest thing we've had to MGS1 since the 90's. Awesome scenario, soundtrack and level design. That said, I do think it was a bit too drawn out and that the script needed editing.
3. MGS: PW; The story isn't that great but oh god, it's so fun. I didn't think splitting the game up into separate missions or giving you a base to manage would work but it did and it was wonderful.

And for fun:
4. MGS4; It started off incredibly but full off with the last the third and fifth acts. Kojima really tried way too hard to wrap up all the loose ends and it came across really forced.
5. MGS2; As much as I loved the Tanker, the Plant really killed this game for me. For what was essentially a "remake" of MGS1, it really missed a lot of the things I loved about that game. The level design was incredibly boring, the story was absurd and confusing and the set pieces just weren't interesting.
6. MGS: PO; The game itself wasn't that bad but the controls made it seem so much worse than it was. Why they kept Ryan Payton around after he came up with those god awful controls, I have no idea, but he clearly had no clue what he was doing.
99. MGS: TTS; Just a broken mess of what was once a brilliant game. So completely disappointing

#1 MGS3 - Everything from the level design to the soundtrack was top notch. And dat ending.
#2 MGS4 - Despite the frequent and lengthy cinematics, the game gripped me until the end. The boss fights were some of the most memorable for me this gen.
#3 MGS - Strangely enough, this is the only entry in the Solid series where we play as (not old) Solid Snake for the entire game.

Honestly the bait and switch of MGS2 is one of the greatest things ever.

Would put MGS4 as number one if snake blew his brains out instead of ending up with another hour plus of nonsense and him losing his nerve like a female dog.

1. MGS3 Incredibly awesome. So many great ideas. Kojima's alternative vision of the Cold War incorporating many real history events like the race to the moon and nuclear deterrence is genius.

2. MGS1
3. MGS: VR Missions
4. MGS2

3. MGS1 - The purest, most honest, most straightforward game in the series. It's easy to see how this inspired a generation of gamers and game makers, and Kojima hasn't made another game quite like it since.

1998 was seriously one of the best times i had as a gamer.

I played resident evil 2, MGS, tekken 3 and final fantasy 8. Just beautiful.

1- MGS2: Remains the most mind-blowing interactive experience out there. Script was B-grade schlock, but underneath that was some fucking brilliant commentary and of course major 4th wall breaking. Gameplay was solid and added so many layers to strategy and execution, coupled with signature puzzle-like level design, all at a spectacular 60fps.

2- MGS3: The End boss fight....that's not all obviously but you get the point.

3- MG4

4- MGS Peace Walker

This list for me is based completely on the deception of the heart and the attachment it has given me to each entry of the series. Some certainly have better gameplay than others but I got to go with the rose tinted lens of my gut.

MGS 1 - The voice acting, characters, and graphics were on a level I didn't even think was possible and then Psycho Mantis made my controller move.
MGS 2 - I still remember the epic weekend me and my friends spent playing through this game.
MGS 4 - Shadow Moses = Tears
MGS 3
