NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

He's a competitor. I don't believe that bullshit about their parents hating them playing each other. They did it all throughout their childhood.

Not that it would ever happen, but at least he would not have to face Eli in a superbowl. Could you imagine Eli beating Peyton in a SB and going up 3-1 on him, lol.

I'm excited to see this ban on the blackouts moving forward a little bit. When the NFL already makes enough money with their TV contract to cover ALL player salaries and then some, there is no point.

NFL is still far better than MLB in terms of blacking out games. There's at least a point to spend 350 bucks so I can see the Pats games here. When you miss 15% of the Sox games because of the stupid black rule it's not very tempting :/

When are the Red Sox blacked out in Charlotte?

I really don't see Peyton wanting to do that twice a year, every year.
Nor do I. I also don't buy the parents emotional wrecks nonsense either. At the end of the day, money talks and if Washington or the Jets are going to break the bank for him, he'll take that money and play. If the offers from Miami or a comparable team are on the table and are similar, I think he ends up on one of those teams over an East team or the Jets.

Frankly, I'm hoping for Miami for two reasons:
- I want nothing to do with a healthy Peyton Manning in the East.
- I'd love to see Brady vs Peyton twice a year.

Redskins aren't a competitor even with Peyton, they have literally no weapons on offense aside from Fred Davis. I think Peyton wants to go to a team that already has a great WR (Marshall, Fitzgerald, Holmes, etc.) but is lacking in QB. And I don't buy that he wants to play Eli twice a year, he'll probably go anywhere but the NFC East.

It's only about 100 miles further than DC. Why any of them but the Braves are blacked out is mystifying though.

Reds are't blacked out in Charlotte.

Probably a FOX broadcast game, so it was a national black out. Saturday's are the f'ing worst for that. Even if you have a different game in your region, they still black them out.

You're probably right.

Larry, are you actually an O's fan? If you are, I can't possibly be mean to you ever again.

I'm a real O's fan, which is to say, I'm still an O's fan.

We're going to be good this year, and by good, I mean only 5 games under .500.

SHOOT FOR THE STARS!!!

What the fuck are we doing? Joe Flacco is not the answer, and he's proven it over and over again. He's not getting better, he's hit his ceiling, and it's an AFC Championship loss. As much as I hate Cam, he's not making Joe throw like shit. He's not accurate. He's uncomfortable in the pocket. Oh, and he's a whiny bitch. If the Ravens want to put stock in his one game this year that was good, the AFC Championship, then they should look at the end result. A fucking loss. Not even a loss you can blame on the D, because they were good, or the kicker. It shouldn't have even come down to that FG. Flacco is an average QB, just because we won a Superbowl with an average QB doesn't mean we can do it again. Dilfer was an outlier, not the model, and to resign Flacco long term is to say we want to conform to the 2000 model. Problem is, our Defense isn't as good and is only going to get worse unless we get more talent to replace our oldies.

This is a sad day, but I knew it would come. Why? Because people are stupid.

Im all for keeping Joe to a short term contact AFTER next year to see if can grow more with out cam.

That sucks they black out the Orioles games. Must be depressing.
The O's wont be good again :( until Peter Angelos steps down he needs to take some advice from Steve

Offensive line in the first round? Yes, please. Glenn would be nice. Either that or take Zeitler in the second round.

LJ (or other folks in the know) what are your thoughts on Mark Barron? Some mocks have the Giants taking him in the first round and I'm not terribly familiar with him.

Why does Cam Cameron still have a job with the Ravens? Are you guys seriously keeping him another year?

Yeah, I think Lavonte's projected to go 2nd or early 3rd at worst, but after the combine he may move up.

I'm not a huge Barron fan, thought he was grossly overrated as a Junior, took terrible angles, allowed receivers to get deep, didn't understand the hype. He's the reason Bama didn't win three NCAA championships in a row. His play against Auburn was atrocious, terrible angles on mediocre deep balls. I can't stress enough how bad his play was. Cam was desperate and was just chucking deep.

That said, he played better this year, that conference is pretty much a joke when it comes to passing the football though. No QBs worth a shit outside of Wilson.

Was probably coached up a bit, made better reads this year, was really impressed with his LSU INT. Nothing special about it, just made the right read, new where his help was and took a great angle to the ball. Much better this year than last, seems like a good run defender, no one is really getting into the 2nd and 3rd level against that front 7 though.

Thank you!

Charles Woodson is a bad tackler? looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

PFF is notorious for its inability (or unwillingness) to look beyond the stats. Of Woodson's 16 missed tackles, I'd be willing to be 4-8 came in the backfield and were cleaned up by filling linebackers. He missed tackles because he blitzed spots to blow up plays, and did so effectively.

If you consider those positive plays, which I certainly do, you're looking at a whiff rate of 0.08%. Awful player!

Tramon Williams...no excuse.
Woodson is the best taykler on the team.

What's this a out Tramon?

So both of those guys have Nick Perry going to the Chargers. I don't follow USC much, so what's the story on this kid? Says he's a DE but can he be a 3-4 LB?

Roger Goodell Backs Off Expansion Talk After Being Reminded Of Jacksonville Jaguars

NEW YORK—Amid talks of "possibly adding a 32nd team" to the National Football League, Commissioner Roger Goodell was reminded by aides Tuesday that the Jaguars have been playing in the AFC South for more than a decade. "Oh, right, of course! The Jaguars," a sheepish Goodell said at a press conference originally called to discuss possible new NFL cities. "Teal, right? But not the Panthers. Teal, cats, not very good—you can see how we got that wrong. We will certainly be making internal adjustments to ensure we don't forget them again." Goodell did say, however, that the NFL was still interested in someday fielding a team in a large warm-weather city such as Los Angeles; San Antonio, TX; or even Jacksonville, FL.

Got a chuckle out of me.
