The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

Yep just keep posting. I WOULD keep the massive and long posts to just those you have used. Because at least three of those mods, you just posted but stated you haven't played, all have issues working with one another. And if someone is just going down the list they could install it and it would cause no ends of headaches.
Seeing new mods is a great but a list that massive can easily become cumbersome and both websites have their own new or recently updated mods lists that can already take care of the same thing and do it easier than you posting a "here is some more" list.

Just my 2 cents to keep you somewhat on track and the information current.

As for me. I uninstalled Detailed Cities too many pathing node problems. Its a mess in the CK and I have had guys disappear then reappear elsewhere. If you save at the same time, and characters glitch often...your borked from that point on. Very dangerous mod right now I would solidly NOT recommend it until he patches it. Which he is doing now when he gets back from vacation.

So far Crafting 300 is my favorite mod. Adds the most weapons(a couple that don't fit) and seems to have the most attention to fitting them in where he could. Really great mod. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2933

Which ones conflict?

Interesting that you're having issues with Detailed cities... by 'guys' do you mean NPC's?

I think your opinion is shit...but yea keep posting

So what you're saying is you'd like him to stop posting? Because what I'm saying is that CR's posts are great and should continue, even if I personally hate the look. No one should get offended by another person's taste.

Has anyone tried the KatuMod ENB settings, this popped into my subscriptions on YouTube.
I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it looks pretty neat, a lot more subtle than the other ENB stuff I've seen

Unf, those waterfalls. I'm so excited to play my Khajiit on PC, but I need to hold off until the wonderful makeover mods come out.

Is there a mod to change my characters appearance mid-game? As in, I'm tired of the way he looks and want to modify his looks but I don't want to start another game.

Edit: Oh, I see you can just do it from the console command. Very cool.

Has else here heard of that new TV show called Full-Metal Jousting? It's crazy cool, probably the only modern day reality TV show I will find myself watching.

It's based upon the sport of medieval jousting and they wear suits of armour and everything (except the suits of armour are all modern and shit). I suggest ppl check it out.

The reason I bring it up is because I damn well want someone to create a horse combat mod, I'm so sick of having to jump off my horse to fight while I'm travelling (I don't particularly like fast travelling, I feel it detracts from the 'scale' of the game, but I like the horse and cart - I still think you should have 'stop overs' in the cart though where you can be mugged by bandits, or interactive scenes where you have to shoot at chasing riders with Bow / Arrow (like in Zelda games). The whole Horse system is really too basic and I virtually just end up not using the horse at all (especially because I can't stand missing all those alchemy ingredients lying around while I'm riding... I find it extremely hard to just pass them by, even though I have like thousands of potions already).

Just hope that Bethesda release horse combat based off that video though I surely bet it'll be in a DLC patch if it does. Sadly, I think all the mod community animators would rather work on the adult scenes.

Oh yeah... i saw that 'lydia pleasuring herself' adimation mod, but didn't download it.

I can understand using the improved body meshes to make the characters bodies look better, but that? That's not for me...

I updated my character, I tried to make her look less un-lore friendly and more real, but I don't know if I'm quite happy yet... I think it's the hair, still can't find something that I'm quite happy with.

I've only just arrived at the Solitude area for the first time, and MY GOD... MY GOOOOOD it is STUNNING around there. I'll be going nuts trying to capture a lot of shots today. It's the first time I've really seen the ocean and have left Whiterun, Windhelm and Riften behind and I'm 150 hours in. Crazy huh?

Do ppl mind me posting screens? Personally part of what I love about this is the ease of capturing screenshots and it's not only about playing the game, but capturing some of the beautiful moments I'm experiencing so I can share them with others and also go back and re-live them later on. I might post a bunch of screens every day if that's okay with peeps? That's what this thread is about isn't it? I'll try and keep the size down anyway - Although I could use Minus to Auto-Size them and just post the small images here and link the larger res version... Hmm, I think I might start doing that. Here's today's shots:

Also - does anyone know of any mods that affect how much health enemies have?

Edit - Woops, forgot sceens - they're there now.

I'm mobile so I can't cut down the size of the quote, but why don't you just quote your pictures so the forum auto sizes them like enco does? If you have a lot of photos then just link to a higher res version but if you have 3 or 4 it will be fine.

Quote the pics that way they don't mess up the flow of the page. Or link them is probably the best.

Enemy health. I think Skyrim Wars does. But I read you had issues with it correct? Deadly Dragons adjusts the dragon health for sure. Also I think I saw Harder Skyrim or something named like that, that doubled the health yesterday.

Speaking of game time. I now have 310 hours on my one character and...I am only level 29:) and have never been to Solitude at all. Hahahahaha.

Ok people, I have to share this with you. Last week, for my birthday, a friend bought me Skyrim for PC. Since the PSX I've been mainly a console user, but the last 2-3 years thanks to my brother and things like Steam I've been playing a lot in PC. Always I've been very curious about modding the games, the customization aspect of the PC as a gaming platform (with its problems, of course) its a great aspect for me. But I was kind of turned off because it seemed complicated (now I think I was a dumbass lol), and I don't know, never tried to get into it (tried to mod New Vegas some time ago and I couldn't -_-).

But with Skyrim I finally made my mind up, and I spent two days (around 6 hours) learning to mod and tweaking the game. Its kind of funny that the Steam Workshop also motivated me to mod, but at the end I was downloading directly the mods from the Nexus, because imo for now the Workshop its kind of clumsy. But anyway, to get to the point, after modding and tweaking the game, I have to say that.. ITS FUCKING INCREDIBLE AWESOME! I played Skyrim vanilla a few hours in a friend's PC, but now my modded Skyrim its like a entire different game. I can't believe the potential of mods in terms of graphical improvements, UI, new content, gameplay.. now I understand perfectly the outrage when sometimes modding tools aren't released for games.

So people, another unbeliever who has found the light ;).

PD A screencap from the Nexus Download Manager with my currently installed mods. I use the Lite version of the HD 2K Texture Pack and the Performance preset of the ENB. For now I'm kind of shy to post screenshots, but I have my FRAPS and mbp to jpg conversor ready for the PC screenshot thread :D.

Yay :)

It's worth mentioning at this point, that the really big mods haven't came out yet, but are in the works. If you ever get the time, look up Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Martigens Monster Mod, Project Nevada, Fook 2. Have a look at their feature lists, youtube vids etc. These were some of the biggest mods for previous Bethesda games, and will give you an idea of the sort of things to expect. I don't mean to sound dramatic here, but you ain't seen nothing yet. Expect complete itemisation rebalances, combat enhancements, difficulty changes, new dungeons, new quests (some of them uniquely voiced), new monsters, new towns, pretty much anything you can think of. Skyrim already had a healthy mod community pre-CK, its just going to explode in a way not seen before in previous ES/Fallout games.

Keep the pics coming.

Not a big fan of the sky though. Too much saturation.

Yeah, I just changed to that 'colour' galaxy, it was crazy bright last night for shot screenshots... it looks pretty, but it's still "too much", I'm trying to tone it down a bit.

My game's look has really evolved over time, I'm sure you can all agree - it's getting there.

Fixed my post, all the shots are there now.

I'll check your examples, and I'm with you that I've just discovered the tip of the iceberg, but with my first steps in the modding world I'm very impressed. Of course I've suscribed this thread. And whats the magic of the Creation Kit? It is not like the GECK for the Fallout games? If someone explains to me I'll appreciate it.

Yep, the CK is pretty much the geck for Skyrim. It will give modders a great deal more functionality (some mods you saw pre-CK were hamstringed due to there not being a sdk). Mods will be easier to make, and more extensive, as a result of the CK.

My Mods post for the day:

Armed to the Teeth - Ever wanted to have your character look like they were carrying more than just ONE freaking weapon? Well, here is your answer. This is awesome, can't wait to upload tomorrows screenshots with my character that is now decked out in weapons :D It's not fully comprehensive, but I think this will spread like wildfire (as long as it isn't bugged). Definitely one to keep a close eye on.

Mannequin Duping Bug Fix - Have you got a Mannequin that is duping gear every time you enter somewhere? Here is a fix.

Also - could someone please explain to me how Wyre Bash works? I really don't get it... what are 'Active' and 'Non-Active' mods. Which mods should be put into a 'Bashed Patch'? I think I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start to need to create a Bashed Patch but whenever I try I seem to cause more harm then good. It's just a method of combining .esp's right?

I'd like to be able to combine all of my 'Weapon and Armor' Esp's into one single .esp, many of these .esp's affect levelled lists... is this possible? Is it possible in future to ad more information to the 'bashed' .esp that I created?

If Wyre Bash isn't for this purpose then is there another program that I can use to 'compile' my esp's that don't change into one? I think this is what Wyre Bash does, but it just seems to screw everything up whenever I use it.

I've started a new character as I was a bit overwhelmed with the 100 or so unfinished quests I had. This time I actually have a character history which will determine which quests I take on, what decisions I make, etc.

It's nothing glamorous: an Imperial whose parents were killed by the Dark Brotherhood and who only just survived the attack himself. Now, he's grown up and has been heading around Tamriel wiping out the local Dark Brotherhood chapters piece by piece. The final one left is in Skyrim, and it turns out that the order itself may have even originated here.

Obviously my main objective will be eliminating the Dark Brotherhood, but I will in general be purging evil as much as possible (as opposed to embracing it, as in every single Elders Scolls playthrough I've done before). I will still be largely abstaining from the Civil War, as it doesn't matter to me, but if it aids my objectives to pick a side, I won't hesitate.

I'm also going to collect all of those funky masks!

I saw there's many resolutions for the MOD, since i don't have a lot of Vram what's the recomended resolution to keep the game memory consumption similar to vanilla and would i notice an improvement in this way?

Your screens look amazing, do you have DoF enabled too? Cause it seems to be missing, or I'm blind.

I seriously want my game to look similar to that, is it ENB? Cause ENB really hurts my framerate too much for my liking.

I wish I had a rig that could run it nicely, but sadly no.

Are there any mods which don't hurt the fps much but give a similar effect?

WB is supposed to take the data and sort it so that there are spaces between mod entries so that if 2 mods adjust goblins there simply because 2 unique goblins and both can be in the game(Very simple rough explanation).

I have also been running into a ton..TON of issues with it. I just stopped using it completely. It screws up the game or crashes after I used it so I stopped. I hope they either rewrite it or find out whats occurring.

EDIT: WB worked with WB really well. So I am sure it will catch up.

I tried WB and had no idea what I was doing so closed before I ruined anything.

Currently its not horribly needed and Organizer works well enough to keep you safe until they figure out the new ways that Skyrim handles that kind of thing. But with the way leveled lists are now. I think there are other more elegent ways of handling this than there were in the past. For example Leveled lists with times on them so at night you have specific monsters than during the day. You could then change that to have your leveled list go off from 12am-12pm and the main games at all other times. And so forth. Lots of logics can be written in with the new scheduler.

Update 2.0 is out for my water mod. Tried to subscribe to it from steam but I'm getting an error. Anyone else?

Edit: Nevermind. It works now.

Steam should really download new mods before checking for old ones.

I still get an error with your mod isoku. I'll give it a few mins.

edit: Disabled the old water mod from NMM and now Steam wants to re download all my mods. Yay...

6 million Skyrim mod downloads in first week since CK launch (from SW and Nexus)
Bethesda announced on their blog today that Steam Workshop has clocked over 2 million mod downloads since it was launched, along with the Creation Kit, a week ago. Combined with the download figures from Skyrim Nexus, which are currently standing at 4.4 million downloads in the past week, that means that over 6 million mods have been downloaded for Skyrim since the Creation Kit was launched (and obviously not including download counts from other community sites!). A very impressive achievement for the Elder Scrolls modding community.

In other news, I'm aware I promised another video blog recently and I was all ready to get one cranked out with my ugly mug on it at the start of this week, but, alas, I've been in bed since the weekend with a fever and head cold, so I'm hoping to get one out by the end of this week or the start of the next. It'll take on the form of a kind of State of the Union address, and I'll try to talk about recent events, what we've been up to and where we'd like to be further on down the line while sharing some of the cool stuff we've got in the pipeline. Stay tuned on that one. I don't really want to post a video of me looking green on YouTube!

2 mil mod downloads on Steam Workshop
4.4 mil mod downloads on Skyrim Nexus

Interesting figures, to say the least. I personally think the Nexus has the majority of downloads simply because it's easier to download more than just a handful of mods, due to it's superior browsing experience. That, and other issues, such as BSA load order issues, workflow dependent upon NMM/Wyre Bash, etc....

I got the same thing. Dude still does a fantastic job. One of the only true must have mods. Great work.

I see you're having a nirnroot glow problem. Try this mod/fix, Possessive Corpses, no more lazy zombies, and shy nirnroots. It changes scripting so that nirnroot glows don't stick around after you pick them, as intended. Also, it attaches weapons to corpses, cleans up ashes properly, and zombies don't turn to ash after they fall. All of these things prevent save bloat and each are optional.

If anyone else is like me and finds the Fore volume too loud and obnoxious when I'm forging (and I forge A LOT) then this is for your - Blacksmith Volume Lowered

Also, a similar style mod for the Soul Trap - damn, that sound kicks my arse when it happens.

My ENB config is a modified Jasmin's version, i'd suggest starting there.

@Raptor

What ENB/lighting is that? That's the way I want my light sources to feel; warm and safe. I really wish the nights on vanilla were a lot darker. Most of the ENB mods make daylight far too bright.

Also, I personally like your screens, especially over the past few days where you have really "hit your mark" I guess you could say. Even though your current style currently aligns with my tastes a lot more, I still enjoyed your old screenshots, and enjoyed when you would post them. I think you should mod things however you freaking like, and share as much as you want. Screw what I think or like. Screw what everyone else thinks too.

It's human nature to think things that don't align with your own tastes are 'wrong', and unfortunately some people have nothing constructive to say about anything.

Forget em' man.

Strange. I don't see it on my system and even loaded up the cell in the CK. There aren't even any waterfalls in that location.

If you fast travel to Honningbrew Meadery it should be visible from there. Without RWT loaded it goes away, so it's not another mod.
