I have to say that Uncharted: Golden Abyss is simply not worth $49.99. Honestly, I don't think it's worth $29.99. Having played U2 and U3, this little adventure doesn't add up to much. The critics who compared it to a made for TV movie are spot on.

Loving Rayman, though.

Are there any stores that give gift cards or anything just for buying the Vita? I thought someone said Target gives you a $20 card with the purchase of a Vita.

Yeah... I think I saw that promo when I was in Target yesterday.

EDIT:
Hmm... that would put it more worthwhile than the TRU promo. $20 gift card + B2G1 for games.

I'm not buying Escape Plan until there's some kind of discount. $15 is too much for me.

I had $4 in left over money in my PSN wallet (or is that SEN wallet?) so I went for it. So, $9 for an interesting Vita game to test out all the touch inputs on the new hardware seems like a decent purchase.

good luck with that.

I don't think 3g will be sold out as it launches. Army CoH is being at GS right now.

He bought the full front panel protector.

I hate that protector, it's a piece of crap to install.

Is it really such a pain in the ass to install? The reason why I am asking is because I plan on buying the full body protector ( Dry installation).

Is there a way to skip the PSN signup during setup? I'm not near an internet connection right now and it won't let me skip unless I create a temp PSNid.

EDIT: nevermind, the temp setup was two screens...I assumed it was going to include a bunch of information.

DAMN IT!! My 32 GB memory card has not shipped yet from PlanetAxel. I hope i will receive it before 22 Februari or else i can't play WipEout 2048.
It's a shame PS Vita doesn't have internal memory storage.

It's a lot easier than the wet one. I got that one and it worked out but it was harder than it should have been.

Wait, don't our PSN Accounts from the PS3 carry over to the PS Vita upon signing in, or do we need to make a new one? I'm confused. Why are people saying Vita ID's?

PSP games are transferable from EU PSN accounts - just transferred 10 games across. Patapon 3 was the only one that didn't work, and I'm redownloading now to double check. Maybe because it has the online pass stuff, needs different treatment?

It's the same PSN id. I was just referring to Vita owner's PSN id. ^_^

Got ridiculously excited because I got a text message and thought it was Amazon saying my Vita was delivered but it was spam for a free Best Buy gift card. FAIL.

Isn't Rayman $40?

One thing worth considering with Uncharted (which maybe doesn't justify it) is that it began development before Uncharted 2 was released. Bend was privy to the development of UC2, but the scope of the game was always compared against Drake's Fortune.

I shouldn't say too much until I actually play the whole campaign. But what I played was pretty goddamn impressive. Especially as a launch title. The general cynicism about Golden Abyss compared to the general pass I'm seeing from Lumines and Rayman is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. If a reviewer thinks Lumines is worth $40, how can Uncharted be a ripoff at $50?

Not for me they don't. Fedex always leaves a note. I live at an Apt. though so that may be why.

But UPS always leaves the packages by my door, which I appreciate.

Err Amazon typically uses UPS for all of my packages: are they using FEDEX instead for systems? I might have to switch to delivery at work if that's the case.

Got my FEB and my free uncharted! Good times. I was surprised that it came fully charged. Excellent!

Isn't that stupid? Seriously, what a dumb way to go about things.

Ah, that's good to hear. At least the dry one is better in terms of installation. LiquidMetal, since you have the machine and the protector do you think it's worth getting a case for PSV? I plan on either getting a silicon case or a carrying case for my PSV.

... and I'm off to pick up my FEB. ^_^

The Wi-fi PSVita still has the SIM card slot?

Mine does, I'm guessing it just doesn't work?

Hmm... are you sure it's a SIM card slot ? There is a mysterious slot at the top. Sony hasn't said anything about it yet.

Amazon has always used UPS for me. I was just speaking in general. Some other things I have ordered (not from Amazon) that use Fedex usually leave a note.

Wait, let's stop for a moment here on the subject of PSN parity from Vita to PS3.

We can message people, cross platform, correct? We also can synch trophies to the same profile... so why on earth can't we see each other's online status?

Can anyone with a Vita confirm what happens when they log on the PSN from their Vita? I've heard conflicting reports in this very thread.

Yes, and worth pretty much every penny, given it's substantial length.

I think it comes down to this:

1. You're going to get more replay value (even general value) from Lumines and Rayman. This is due to overall content.

2. Golden Abyss has a very impressive presentation, but it seriously pales in comparison to its PS3 brethern (graphics, set pieces, etc). Also, the stupid touchscreen shit is REALLY annoying. I cannot stress that enough at this point.

3. At the $49.99 price point, you're seriously tempting gamers to look at a standard console game. The ten dollar difference is just too much from a psychological standpoint. I wouldn't be nearly as critical of this game if it was $39.99.

You can see PS3 people on a Vita. PS3 people may not be able to see Vita folks reliably (if at all).

Impressions of some games:

Rayman Origins - The graphics are incredible to the point that it looks almost 3D. As I said in a previous post...it is the best looking portable game on the market. There's no scaling down, no missing stuff (except for MP). It feels like I'm playing the console version.

Uncharted - Wow. It's like playing Uncharted on the PS3, except on a smaller screen. Aiming is little difficult with the second stick, but otherwise the game is fantastic. I love the touch to grab, and the drawing a path to ledges mechanic. Neat.

Impressions of the touch screen:

Touch...touch...touch...I love touching this. Better than the iPad touch screen.

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
It makes me really jealous seeing all the deal that you guys getting..... Gamer outside NA is really suffering...

Our prices in NZ are the killer, 3G is $548NZD for Recommended Price ($458USD) but we're getting some alright bundles. For the same retail price I get Uncharted for free, Pre Order pack with headphones, $10NZD PSN voucher, free Sim Card (+Free Wipeout when topped up) and a 4gb mem stick. Sure the 4gb is useless in the long run but ideal for a few small PSN games and some game saves.

But then NZ has always had the highest prices in the world for electronics. Lack of population = less demand plus being a country way out of the way the shipping is higher too.

No cancelled preorders for FEB in town. My Best Buy says they wouldn't even sell it if someone cancelled unless I had one preordered, but I have an absolutely terrible Best Buy. Probably going to check Wal Mart at lunch. Frowners.

It is weird that gamestop did not text me to pick up my Vita, I pre ordered the FEB. Hope I can still pick it up today, or I will be one angry person.

Hehe @ that Penny Arcade comic. I giggled. Poor non FEB folks =(

Just got off the phone with Sony regarding my Super Stardust purchase and Vita extended warranty. They are supposed to be emailing me about the Stardust purchase but the Vita warranty was a quick and painless process. I extended my warranty from the base 1 year to a full 3 year (so covered until Feb 15 of 2015) for $39.99 which I thought was very fair. I hope the system will be a reliable one but with new technology I would rather be prepared.

I did not do the accidental damage warranty as I have never (knock on wood) broken one of my handheld gaming systems. If I'm not playing my system it's in it's case or on the dock, period. The accidental warranty was $49.99 for 1 year and $79.99 for 2 years but it is available today for anyone who's interested.
