PS Vita western launch thread, p. 2 | Simply the most desirable handheld yet released

Virtua Tennis 4 is probably the best looking game. 60fps and PS3 quality graphics. Uncharted is definitely up there though. Some may complain about the jaggies or lower resolution but I think it looks just as good as the first PS3 game.

Virtua Tennis 4 is absolutely mind-blowing, I agree.

Any tips for a new Vita owner? Specifically installing new firmware from a fresh system?

I heard to not sign in as your PSN account when initially updating, and that you should sign in as a guest, update, then sign in with your PSN account.

So when do I put the memory card in? Right away? Or after the initial firmware update and before I sign into the PSN?

Follow instructions. They're pretty simple. Pop in memory card before you turn on Vita. Also, if there is an update (there is), do it. It won't let you sign in using your account unless you download the update so it'll create a dummy account. Go to settings and update it and then use your account.

Good luck and congrats on your system! ;)

After accidentally posting in the wrong thread let me try again xD

Congratz to everyone who got their Vitas so far :)
I'm picking up mine tomorrow but I can't decide what game to get as I for now only can afford one game.

I'm thorn between HSG or WipEout or playing PSP games till Gravity Daze is out.
Which of these possibilities would give me the most fun on the long run?

Personally, I would either pick up HSG or some PSP games. The smoothest version of WipEout is on the PS3.

Purely from a graphics-whore POV, what is the best looking game on the Vita? Uncharted?

I remember walking around with my PSP the first few days after launch simply blown away that I was getting graphics like that in a portable device. Seems like a million years ago, after everything that's gone on in the handheld space since then. Vita will have to do a lot to knock me on my ass again like the PSP did. (still getting it Day 1, though)

Uncharted might be the most impressive 3D game. But BlazBlue, Ulimate Marvel Vs Capcom, and Rayman Origins are gorgeous. Equal to the console counterparts, if not better because of the OLED screen.

Did i miss everyone talking about Escape Plan? It looks really great, but i haven't seen one person gushing about it at all, makes me wonder...

I like it. It's a bit slow paced, but it's a neat little game with beautiful art direction. There are so many other great Vita games at launched that I'm not surprised it was lost in the shuffle.

The game reminds me of "The Neverhood" in a lot of ways, if you're familiar with that game. It's a charming room by room puzzle adventure game that uses the system in a lot of strange ways.

Guys - really need some help here.

The vita launched here so i can finally connect to the playstation store. The thing is a mess and its very difficult to navigate.

I have zero $ added to my funds list, however i accidentally downloaded Hot Shots Golf. I have not even put my credit card details/funds on there but i got an email saying that i have purchased it, its sitting there in my download list.

How can i remove this so that when i DO put money on, that its not eventually charged?

Also - in general, how do you see how much space you have on your memory card?

That is weird. Do you have CC info stored on PSN? Surprising it won't ask for password. Question to others: does it ask for confirmation when you purchase a content like password?

YES! I talked to amazon and got a 20.00 one time credit since I pre-ordered my FEB and the page talking about the promotion for pre-orders getting 20.00 doesn't say you need to purchase an 8gb card to get it. Now what to spend my 20.00 on...

Also testing the sleep issue again at work:
Looks like it works with no issues. Granted I turned it off last night while it was charging so that might have done something rather then sleeping it while charging. Who knows, maybe the last fw update took care of that on the backend?

Wait, what? I preordered my FEB from Amazon too. What promotion are you referring to that could give me a $20.00 credit? Link please?

In the other thread a few people that played it enjoyed it a lot. The way it sounds is that it fits nicely with the 8-8.5 reviews that are out there. That plus $15 makes this an easy choice for me.

WELL my neighbour took delivery of my Vita, but now they are nowhere to be seen! Seriously, of all the times to find out they work shifts... hope the delivery man woke him LOL

Hopefully his wife will be home soon and I will have it, in the meantime just using the time to buy and download my games off PSN

Any suggestions on what to get. Rayman, UMvC3, NGS+ or PSN card?

If you're not adverse to getting it on other systems, you'll be able to pick up Rayman or UMarvel 3 pretty cheaply used on 360/PS3 - Rayman I've seen for $20 new.

NGS+? Well, it only adds a super easy difficulty, and some ninja trials. Not much really - it's the same [good] game.

Keep in mind that Motorstorm comes out cheaply soon on the PSN. You can also buy PSP games for the Vita on the PSN with that card. Stardust Vita (an original) is also on the PSN. Out of all those, I vote card.

Would you mind popping in Ninja Gaiden as soon as possible and giving us the lowdown on the framerate? Is it 60 fps? Whether I buy the game or not hinges on this answer. :)

Ok quick impressions are its hella smooth I can't tell wether it's 60 buy it looks over 30 and the graphics are real sharp like real sharp...

Sweet, thanks. I've heard this general opinion before so it's sounding like they hit 60 fps with it.

Thinking of jumping on the bandwagon and swinging by Best Buy or Frys tomorrow before work. I hear the general consensus is Fifa is really solid? There also seems to be a few rpg's on the way, how do they look? Is Ragnarok Odyssey going to get released here in the US?

Just went for the $15 a month data plan, since you get a free month with it I figured I'd give it a shot and see if I want to keep it after the two month trial.

I have a slightly obscure question for you guys.

So the primary account I use on my PS3 (and the one I'll be using on my Vita) is actually a guest account of my first PSN account. It's kind of a long story as to why things are this way (short version: I'm stupid) but it's got me a bit worried. What I'm wondering is, will I be able to add funds to my PSN (SEN, whatever) account from my Vita since I'm on a guest account? If not, do I have to do it from my PS3 every time I want to purchase something?

Can you turn off touch controls, and have you had to use them yet? NG is such a tight game I am worried that the touch stuff will detract if it is during combat/platforming parts.

I asked this yesterday but didnt see any replies. Is the Vita chargeable right out of the box?

Most devices these days are but I know some people claimed to have charging issues with theirs so Im wondering if I can just plug it in tomorrow after receiving it so itll be 100% when I get home.

See, I ordered mine through Videogamesplus. I don't care they got hacked.

They shipped it last friday. I got it yesterday. Who's awesome? They're awesome.

I care that they got hacked and didn't send me an email to tell me so. They never stopped with their advertisement emails though. That made me sad so I won't use them anymore. They obviously had my email if they were sending me ads. But didn't feel like I was worth sending a warning about the hack. I only heard about it here on GAF. That's not awesome. At all.

I was actually one of the people who got their Vita a week before the FEB people because of the Amazon mistake. I'm just waiting now for a replacement because mine has a stupid broken shoulder button.

Amazon.ca is garbage. But at least they treat me like an actual customer.

So glad I accepted Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation during PSN Welcome Back package. Downloaded and transferred! :D
Wish I would have picked Liberation. I went with LBP and Modnation simply because I didn't own them (already have Liberation on UMD), but now I have no way to transfer it. :\

Thanks for the responses. my problem with Rayman/UMVC3 is I have them both on PS3 and really don't want to double dip. I think my best bet is to just get a psn card.

yeah i did that. i turned it on and it was like 50% charged anyway straight from the box.

Btw - the wipeout demo is taking AGES to come down!

It uses the back touch pad for touching sigils when using ninja magic and cannot be turned off.

I think my big worry is getting a new MEM card. all my shit is saved on my 4gb, ill have to get a 16GB/32GB eventually..does that mean if i put in a game which has saves on my 4GB card (UMVC3, Blazblue, UC:GA) that i have to swap out the silly little mem card every time as well?
