Dark story, not angst. That's just how to describe Kratos. Previous NG titles did not have stories of this type. Inner conflict, possessed arm, suffering souls vs. inner conflict, revenge, suffering souls, blah blah blah.
All the "done before GoW" comments are not valid arguments. You could use that logic to defend any game ripoff known to man. All listed items are changes towards NG that just happen to all be prevalent in GoW3. The designers are likely looking at GoW as inspiration for a western hit. Makes sense but doesn't mean that individuality isn't lost.
