What specifically did you find unacceptable with the NWN2 UI?
Both NWN1 and 2 are abortion in therm of UI design.

Looks shity, feel shity and it work shitty, And thanks to new and "better" D&D edition it was mess with those feats, counterspells etc.

It seems silly to think it'll be iOS ONLY, no? Considering that the game's originally coded for PC, how easily the assets could be replaced and upgraded, and the efforts of the PC modding community since then to provide all manner of bug-fixes, tweaks, and the widescreen mod? I hope they at least chatted with some of the guys like G3 so they knew what to patch in, if only the essential unambiguous bug fixes.

Sorry for the offtopic, but assuming that i loved everything about the BG Saga and I think it's among the best games ever created, will I enjoy NWN2 + MotB?

skip nwn2 go straight for mask of betrayer. NWN2 isn't anything near BG2 same as NWN1 wasn't even remontly close to BG. Also storm of zephir is nice. As of NWN1 only Hordes of underdark expansion is v.good.

Also after MAsk of betrayer you should check mod community. Some campains are way better than NWN2 main campain.

but i've read that motb campaign connets with the story from nwn2 so wouldn't i have to finish it to fully enjoy the expansion?

In that the beginning of MotB talks about NWN2's ending and shows you how it's one of the stupidest things ever, yes. Otherwise, no, the story is entirely unrelated. You do play as the same main character, but that's the only real connection.

Please, let it be a true game, not a Ipad port... Please please please please (i'll worry if it's going to be a good game after that).

What would make an iPad port not a "true game"?

It's pretty worrying that your major concern isn't quality of the game but insuring it's not on iPad.

Because a game being ported on an another gaming plat-form isn't a new game, and isn't worth my interest.
Since I have to explicit it to you, I have two worries :
- First, that the "new" game will just be a port. In this case, I'm not interested.
- Then, if the first condition is fulfilled (because, obviously, I don't have to worry about the quality of a game I already played and that I wouldn't buy on Ipad), that is if a "new" game is annonced, I'll begin to worry about the quality, since Bioware is capable of great things, but also of poor choices (DLCs, ME3's ending...).

It being a port, instead of new game. THat's what he means.

I think most people would prefer something new, instead of porting 12 years old game to new hardware. BG on iPad just isn't all that excting prospect to most of it's fans.

Can't wait to see this. I actually hope it's an Ipad port. IMO, turnbased RPG's are perfect for the touch interface. I'll play the shit out of this if true.

Bioware has nothing to do with this.

If you're alluding that it's EA's fault, maybe you're right (or, rather, there are high chances that you're right). Hélas, we will never know, and we won't be able to prevent DLC abuses if it comes to that.

Bioware has nothing to do with a new Baldur's Gate game.

Hmmm... Well, I'll have to apologize later if that the case, but... I beg your pardon ?

Edit :
Though EA has yet to respond to a comment on the website, GameBanshee claims a new Baldur's Gate project is in the works at Beamdog. The company was cofounded by Trent Oster, a BioWare veteran who held various roles working games ranging from Neverwinter Nights to Dragon Age. Its credits include a remake of BioWare's MDK2 for the Wii and PC in 2011.

Well, I missed that part. My apologies... Though, it's weird, I thought that Beamdog only published, not developped games.

So I hope that I don't come off as one of the anti-iOS crazies. But from what I recall about BGII don't have you to click on / manipulate some really small elements in the UI and on and around the screen? Is a finger really accurate enough to do that on a ten inch screen? I would think that they would need some serious UI tweaks if iPad BG is in fact this project.

They're going to shock everyone and make it a FPS.

Don't be stupid. Baldurs Gate is a fantasy game.

It would be a third person shooter so they can put in some platforming sections to make use of the double jump ability you gain mid-way through the game.

Baldurs Gate already runs on the ipad and more or less works. The issues at the moment are more around moving versus scrolling the screen, so they could get around it in a number of ways. It would work just fine with a proper release.

I would certainly be very excited to get one. Remember even if a port is released, if it sells well, and it could well do, that can only mean funding for new and better baldurs gate games.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I just hope that in 21 hours or whatever, we in this thread are collectively losing our shit in the positive "OMFG YES THIS IS AMAZING" manner and not the awful "OMFG I CANT BELIEVE I WAS SO HYPED FOR THIS DOGSHIT" manner.

In my mind this is an iOS port until proven otherwise. Absolutely 0 raising of hopes.

Well, maybe 1 raising of hopes.

What about iPad development necessitates an iMac? Also, if it is necessary, wouldn't you think they already have an iMac to work on like...months and months before all of this?

You need Xcode which only works on Intel-based Macs and MacBooks.

EDIT: Also, again, the game has already been successfully ported to the iPad. I'm guessing professionals doing the same thing for pay could do it a bit faster than a fan team (GemRB)

Most of the dev tools are better on, or are mac only. You can develop on a windows PC, but it is kind of fighting things for no good reason.

They could still announce it and release later in the year.

In my mind this is an iOS port until proven otherwise.

There has been basically no reason to think anything else thus far. This announcement is definitely not going to be a brand-new game and there's not actually much reason to "upgrade" the original BG visually.

It'll be the iOS port. Which if it really is makes me wonder who is in charge of their pr/marketing. To do this kind of hype for just an iOS port will turn into the company that cried wolf. Look at SquareEnix, every time they try to hype up an announcement for something everyone just rolls their eyes and begins to wonder what iOS port they're going to announce.
