I wish I could think of something else in the last 5 years that didn't ironically make me laugh, like Ano Hana.

Also though, I was doing my undergrad from 2007-2010, so it's possible I missed something. Music stuff gets super busy super fast.

Sounds like you missed Gintama, the best anime comedy ever.

You should watch Soredemo.

Ohhhh, i've seen it; it has my goddess in it, and I loved it. Not to mention every episode was really fun, Round Table did the OP, and I just plain liked it.

Gintama is such a long show that it scares me to think of starting it. But maybe I should anyways, and just do like an episode a day or something.

Sort of an OK episode. The fact
his awakened power was able to strip the fallen angel
made me chuckle.

Isn't he?

I want Issei's alarm clock.

Fate Zero 1 (from the boxset)

HOLY FUCKING GORGEOUS.
The visual quality of this is absolutely incredible.
So crystal clear I could see those little dust particles in one scene that I totally didn't notice before. So this is what true hidef anime quality looks like is it?
This was worth the cost. A high cost, but so fucking worth it.

I never mentioned having high expectations, but after two episodes I could do way worse. It's an energetic and colorful show with one really attractive protagonist and I can't help but enjoy it, anti-feminist undertones be damned.
Well, I watched it all the way through so. :p
But that's mostly because shoujo is non-existent nowadays, and a lot of old shoujo ain't that hot either in terms of representational politics.

Looks shockingly good, actually. And more serious than I expected, though judging tone from a trailer can be extremely misleading.

I told you A-1 Pictures would come through!

I suspect the show will be quite self-serious - it's got Yuki Kajiura composing, after all. That doesn't mean it won't be fun.

Haha, so much for your preferring DVD-resolution?

The very early episodes are a little slow, but it's so worth sticking with it. It's amazing how it can still feel fresh after 250 episodes.

I can deal with that. I can just do one a day over a long period, and maybe have some marathon bouts here and there. It doesn't really bother me unless it literally has nothing going on except for trying to inflate itself with artificial depth, but it looks like it's straight up comedy, and is aware of that, so it should be no problem for me.

The one-a-day method is how I caught up to Detective Conan.

Imagine how awesome it would look if it was actually originally made in 1080p, instead of upscaled?

Persona 4: The Cartoon 25: At least it is well animated for once. The problem is that you cannot translate a turn-based RPG battle into this medium and expect it to hold the same impact as it did before. No attacks hold any weight, and there's no pattern to how or why the battle ends up developing.

Being honest, I fist-pumped when Reach Out to the Truth started playing. And Charlie Tunoku is a true bro.

Persona 4: The Cartoon FIN: The video game was better. The only reason I kept up with this cartoon is because I love Inaba and its inhabitants, and in that respect I was satisfied. Trying to adhere too much to the source material was P4:TC's flaw. On the other hand, the times it truly shone were when it took silly video game stuff like social linking and played with their nature. Fanservice at its best, but ultimately just a dressing for the main course. 3/5

Is this really how younger siblings view us?

A funny episode based on the theme of perception vs. reality. Ringo can't stop screwing things up. And the Literary Girl skits are consistently great. I wasn't expecting Karasawa to
take off his hat.

Asia Argento? I hope her father isn't called Dario.

I face-palmed (and laughed) when the stray demon, whish showed up first by her naked boobs, started rubbing them as she told Rias she'd cover her in blood as red as her hair.

Binbō-gami ga!, an adaptation of Yoshiaki Sukeno's comedy manga, will be airing in the summer with the following staff:

Director: Yoichi Fujita (Gintama)
Series Composition: Kento Shimoyama (Bleach, Naruto SD)
Character Designer: Kenji Tanabe (Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds)
Animation Production: Sunrise

I don't know the quality of the source, but with the Gintama director on board, I'll be sure to check this out. Sunrise hasn't had the best of track records lately, but they usually come through on their comedies.

HOLY SHIT!

I JUST started reading this and it's really fuckin good. It's like a reverse Ah My Goddess, but actually hilarious.

And it has the Gintama director to boot? Sign me the fuck up!

Well here's the thing.
I do enjoy the older look a lot.
The nostalgia effect is very powerful.
But, how should I say it...modern anime created recently should be viewed in hidef.
It really can go both ways.
I would rather watch an sd vrrsion of older shows definitely.
But something like Fate Zero should be seen like this.

imo, Adachi's English VA does an awesome job. The only dubs that stood out as less than stellar were Yukiko's and Margaret's. I couldn't stand Chie's at first, but it really grew on me.

edit: oh yeah, kind of ironic, but I really liked the Japanese protag. Fits the character a lot better than the dub's

The funny thing about the P4 anime and an english dub, if it ever happens and they stick to the game's casting, is that you'll literally be hearing Bosch back to back. He plays both Yu and Adachi. It worked in the game since Yu said but grunts and the persona's names, but would be pretty funky in the anime.

Well that's perfect because he has exactly 2 voices. Would be wimpy Bosch talking to badass Bosch like in Symphonia 2.

Well it's a good thing I've been watching Sailor Moon so I get this stuff. Series is really coming into its own now what with another great episode and the introduction of another potentially great character.

Bishoujo Fighter! Dangerous Allenby

Nice cable placement.

Sailor Moon S 90

I'm impressed at how consistently great the OPs of this series has been even with using Moonlight Densetsu over and over. Sillouhetting of the new antagonist is so effectively creepy and even the monster of the week is wonderfully capable. What a fantastic way to open the new series.

Luna is the best.

Heartcatch Precure 4

That new general looks pretty bad ass. I think I'm rooting for the badguys now.
Fuck this op too. Everytime I watch an ep I hear this in my head for days.
I like the second half of the eyecatch better if i imagine the little mascots are being abused when sprayed rather than relishing in it.

Infinite Stratos 10

Terrible.

Niiice.

Rider's awesome in hi-def is the best way to go!

That game doesn't exist though. Everyone knows this.

Thoraxes yet again, knows what's up.

Stories first, I think.

Primitive Society -> Patriarchal Society -> Misogynistic Culture -> Stories about Men saving Women -> Cultural Conditioning -> Women accepting "Chivalry" as the norm -> Women expecting "Chivalry" from men

GAF sure gets deep as soon as a I head to bed.

Woah, these fallen angels are some big pieces of shit.
The way things are developing, I feel bad for Issei. He was just a poor pervert loser and ended up
losing his humanity and becoming a demon
and entangled in all this when, apparently,
he doesn't possess any really special power (though I'm sure that's not really the case).
Maybe it's cause of all those naked tits and nipples, but I'm enjoying this.
Oh, and the ED is nicely titillating.

I guess Magical Girlfriends and Yanderes aren't all that different. Especially the ones that suddenly move into the guy's house (lol, Ano Natsu).

It's kind of impress that, in the year of our lord two-thousand and twelve this trope still manages to apply with shocking regularity. How would one even explain how or why that exists to a non-anime viewer?

"Well, you see, in these kinds of shows the women has no agency or outside existence, so it only makes sense for her to (through some contrived plotting) move in with the relevant male whose world she revolves around like a minor satellite."

Hey, now they're using a NEW version of it!

What a fantastic way to open the new series.
The jump in quality going into the first episode of S is pretty apparent. Classier presentation. Improved composition. Interaction scenes are busier with more energy. New musical cues that are notably different but great additions to an already rich soundtrack. Enemy MO changing to what becomes an Ikuhara trademark instead of the same old from s1 and R. Also, most of all:

*fanfare* SEEEERAAAAAAMUUUUUN SUUUUUUUUUUUPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Although I think they still use the ED from R for a couple eps.
