No, they each are 3 different characters who work together, Fujiko is Lupin's perpetual love interest who exploits him to get what she wants, and the inspector is forever doomed to chase them.

Hahaha oh...cuz i was watching the Miyazaki movie and was constantly confused trying to figure out if they were all the same, because they do look similar

EDIT: Are you sure they arent the same person....like the only thing different between them is their posture and expression

Yes, they are all separate people.

These screens really don't even look like anime, they look like graphic novel panels. It's going to be really amazing!

Can't wait to see the staff listing for future episodes later this week.
"TBD" incoming?

Man do I love the art already. Notice how different the shading is for each main character, how Fujiko looks pristine and doll-like while Zenigata has some calloused shading around the nose and brow. In motion, this is going to be a commotion.

Has the first ep already aired?

I have always liked the hardcore early 1970s setting of lupin, the fashion during the early 70's was awesome, I am also glad they have always kept it that way

I really love me some Lupin. I've never been able to find the complete dvd (br = drool) collection as I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I gotta say, I am pretty freaking excited for this. I saw a lot of the old tv series when it aired on Adult Swim years ago. I never saw the movies though, however I hear they are great. This series looks like it oozes style(in the same way something like Champloo did with it's art). I can't wait to see it!

I'm looking for streaming on NTV's site, and can't find it, just a directory and several web pages for Lupin and the Fujiko show. The link given in the OP just seems to be for a list of news items. Anyone in Japan going to stream this and have a link to the site?

What is the runtime supposed to be?

Just curious when it will hit this site so I can start downloading. ^______^

Tomorrow work is gonna suckkkkk....hah

Yeah, unfortunately officially subbed stuff is almost non-existent for most of the Lupin specials/films and TV series. There -is- however an official subbed version of Episode 0: First Contact out there. That is easily one of the best specials, in my opinion, so you could look into securing that. I know Funimation also dubbed a handful of the 90s specials years ago. I think that has the Japanese voice track with subs as an option on there.

It's amazing what they can do with digital, now that they've figured it out and gone through its growing pains. I really, really can't wait to watch this.

Episode 1

Well... uhh... hmm... don't watch it with other people in the room. This show doesn't push the boundaries, it takes the boundaries and cuts it into little pieces, puts it into its nonexistent bikini and takes that bikini off.

I liked it though. Its super stylish and they did some really interesting things with pretty much the whole episode. There are some things like the stupid line filter and film grain that look ugly to me but mostly its really well put together.

Storywise, its about how Lupin and Fujiko meet and their first caper against each other. As events go, this is pretty run of the mill but its interesting at least.

Apart from a few shitty filters here and there, it looked just as gorgeous as the screenshots would lead you to believe.

The first episode was pretty fun. Nothing to make me run here and scream about it, but really solid with some enjoyable moments (that's always a good sign for the rest of the series). One thing I did note is how I could see people who aren't your everyday anime fan being taken in by this show.. probably the first time I've felt that way since Bebop.

It really is so nice to look at, too.

Watched episode 1 on NTV On Demand. Very stylish, quite a bit of nudity, but not really as HARD AND DANGEROUS as I thought. The episode was pretty fun, with some good action, and it definitely feels oldschool, but it wasn't exactly super awesome. Promising start though.

Loved it. It felt faithful to Monkey Punch's characters (although better characterization than their original meeting in his manga) with an enjoyable caper and great style. I really loved the animation.

Will watch as soon as I have the time. I watched a little Lupin III when I was a kid but don't remember any of it, so it'll kind of be a first.

This just looks to good to be passed and I have nothing to watch since Gintama, High School Boys and Chihayafuru bailed on me.

Why is there an owl in the OP? Is it significant to Lupin fans in relation to Fujiko? A quick bit of Google reveals my cultural knowledge to be very lacking as apparently the owl is a symbol of good luck in Japan, but is that all there is? Or is it just there to look cool?

I'm not complaining, just curious. Haven't watched anything else yet so can't pass comment on the episode.

I haven't watched anime in years but Lupin was always my favorite TV/movie series when I did watch.

Any chance of this coming out in English?
