Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I realize no one is going to listen to me, but here it goes: Given what has played out so far- i.e, absolutely zero (to my knowledge) announcements of previously unannounced software for Wii U, it is clear Nintendo is holding 99%, if not 100% back until E3. E3 is where we will see what cards Nintendo has to play, including 3rd party support. Until then, it seems rather dumb to make assumptions about the system's future without seeing any of the cards.

Some here probably think Nintendo isn't going to have much at E3, hahahahahaha.

Your guess is much more based in common sense.

Oh sure. But this is GAF. Hyperbole is the board's second nature.

The issue is that many multi console owners won't bother to buy the Wii U versions of games like CoD because Wii U is not where their friends and gamerscore are.
No-one is going to double dip. Really, no one does that.

With the sales of CoD games being so massive there is no way people don't buy multiple versions of the games at some point. In the end there is no way of telling what sales of the Wii U version will be. There is still no reason for it not to be on the system, especially when it will be seen as a launch title. Nintendo isn't going to pull people on mass away from other systems for good. No one is expecting that. There will still be a large number of people that will be getting the system and those early adopters are likely to play a game like this on the system. Regardless of what they have invested on other systems because it will be something to play on their new hardware.

How can you be sure of something you know nothing about? And who said what to confirm it for you?

If Nintendo doesn't think that it's important for third-parties to know how to use their online, they obviously don't care about it.

It's a good think we're past the spec guessing stage, or else I would have been killed by now.

Thank you! This, folks, is called common sense. Take it in. Love it. Care for it. It'll do you well in the future instead of coming up with half-assed doom day theories based on nothing.

He was voicing his opinion! Notice the big IF he had at the start of the post? Yea.........he never said 'Nintendo hasn't shared online details'. He said 'If Nintendo hasn't shared online...'. Big damn difference.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
At the Gearbox panel at PAX East Randy, one of the presidents of the company, said something interesting during the Aliens segment. He basically said that there was going to be something really awesome for the Wii U version and as soon as Nintendo would open up with their communication of the system they'd be able to show everyone.

Yep... the "opening up their kimono" speech

In two months we'll all be victims of the BurntPork virus and we won't even care to tune in to E3.

"Ladies and gentlemen, available on Wii U launch, I present you... Nintendo Vs. Capcom."

*Shot of an empty GAF, crickets chirp*

I've missed most of this speculation thread, and at the time when the most speculation happened.

Ugh...Only two more months.

The idea that Nintendo wouldn't give such information is so ridiculous that I can't imagine such a scenario being guessed. Alberto has one hell of an imagination of he could come up with an insane scenario like that and believe that it's even a possibility. And that's coming from someone like me. (Or he's just desperate to ensure that we don't get our hopes up for good third-party support.)

It's like you never left, BurntPork.

I wouldn't be so sure about that...

Do you want me to post my current spec guess? The fireworks would be amazing, I guess.

But who said that a dev?Am i missing something?

No, another gaf poster speculating that Nintendo might not have shared their online infrastructure to third parties.

BurntPork then took this to it's only logical conclusion, which is obviously Nintendo does not care about online....

It gives me the impression that Nintendo still doesn't care about online play, and, frankly, there's no reason at all to believe otherwise. I'd make an avatar bet, but I want to save that for something else.

I also don't see any evidence that Nintendo is preparing to challenge the full services set that encompasses XBL/PSN online. So until I see evidence to indicate otherwise, I'm going to err on the side of them not making it a HUGE priority, again. Going purely from history and what we've seen thus far concerning Nintendo full online plans, I don't presume they've gotten it, yet.

To be perfectly clear I'm basing this only off what Nintendo has flat out no-spin confirmed and detailed, not what they've mouth flapped and said...it's about what they do.

Why was he banned previously? Because, again, jumping to conclusions doesn't really seem like it's worth a ban.
Did he have a meltdown or something?
Dude was a pendulum

Pretty consistent mini-meltdowns and then immediately flying to the other side and mocking people who act like him

Go find the thread for the Circle Pad Pro reveal. He went on this tear about how Miyamoto is a terrible fool and should be fired and he wished with all his heart that Nintendo would go third party, then two hours later, was mocking people for thinking it was going to be bad for the 3DS.

Or the time he bet that the 3DS would be discontinued by November of 2011. Then said he didn't mean it and criticized people for overreacting.

Oh darn.. you mean they'll have to continue focusing on the single-player experience?

My heart is sooo broken. How ever did we manage to enjoy gaming before online? :)

All they need to get right is Smash Bros. I couldn't give a fuck about any other game when it comes to online.

But Nintendo should. Lots of people care about a good online service.

My stance is near-identical. I don't give a damn about online, but see that lots of people do for some reason. So Nintendo needs it. *shrug*
