PowerUp 2012 | Fighting game tournament | April 13-15

Seriously, I just play this game on vita for fun, don't know shit about playing it competitively but... I gotta ask, is morrigan broken or something?? ChrisG is destroying everyone like they are all scrubs, how in the hell he never wins a tourney?? Are the other guys in a bad day or are they really bad?? This game is not hype at the moment for me.
The meta is changing a lot right now.

People really don't like characters that mess with the usual BS :lol

Morrigan is awesome, so awesome she's the 2nd prettiest girl in Marvel
after X-23 <3

It's just an extremely well made team combined with some questionable decisions by the opponents. It is tough to deal with though.
Yeah, Morrigan isn't nearly as infuriating as the rushdown teleporters in this game. I still have no clue why people keep SNAPPING HER IN. Kill Doom!

He gets up there... and then just quits? I don't doubt his skills. He can be one of the greatest (I actually admire his Morrigan keepaway since I'm a keepaway at Marvel myself), but him just fucking around AND not winning is just aggravating.

That's a tournament fraud to me, not a fraud in general.

How can you call him a fraud if he makes it to top 4 mostly every tournament in multiple games? WTF

It's really weird, trenchcoat mafia and robo death run things and people ask for a solution. Morrigan happens and the bitching is worse at times than it was for Vanilla Phoenix. :lol

Hahaha so true. The only thing close to a team made to counter it in this top 8 was Blacktastic, and even still, he had Sentinel, who just cannot envision dealing with it in any fashion.

Better use of summon swords by Andre would've given him a big advantage IMO.

I think Morrigan becoming a tournament character it the best thing to happen to this game. People just whine because they can't spam teleports combined with beams to win like they have all this time. In Vanilla, people just wanted to BERSERKER SLASH backed by something for instant cross-ups, but now they have teleports, and...oh my god, a character that has SOME answer to teleport cross-ups?

...we might have to think now, gentlemen. Or nerf her.

Pretty much the sole reason why I hope that she never sees a nerf. Hell, I'd buff her if I had the power to. Make Soul Drain S as fast as Soul Fist M on the ground, then we'd see the real shit go down. :lol

This is like watching the JV team. I don't play Marvel but every match seems to be a battle of who messes up less.

Morrigan is the new Phoenix, too.

Gonna agree. It's promoting people actually coming with a gameplan aside from auto-mixup :p Frontloaded/concept teams like this are what make this game great. At the other spectrum is something like PR Balrog's team of Spencer Wolvie Wesker, which is pretty much 3 guys who are good but hardly maximized -- fine in it's own right but well constructed teams should eat up Martha.

On your second point...I could see that happening if it gets rebalance. Niitsuma's team is less suspect than Ono's with the strange nerfs but it's CAPCPOM so you never know.

RE: Morri-Jean --

Absolutely zero frauds have won with Morrigan, so she's not Phoenix in any sense.

Seems like changing from one heavy script to the other end. Then again, it's Marvel. For better or worse, everything gets cranked up to 11.

edit: I haven't watch Big2 for about a month, but isn't the usual pair in finals?

The hate, it sustains her.

No I was not looking for an opportunity to post this one, I promise... :p
Stop lying. You've been waiting forever for this haha.

I agree with everything here.

Capcom will nerf her somehow. All I ask for is pursuit spike kick OTG, OTG missiles and a Lilith style ground dash.

As in build meter for one character and one character alone. I actually like watching the Morrigan stuff but it certainly seems like it'd be annoying to fight against.

If Morrigan sees a nerf, it's pure appeasement, plain and simple. Making it so a certain style of play is the "norm" and downplaying another because folks don't want to think up countermeasures just reeks of pleasing the ignorant (in terms of their understanding of what the fireball and zoning style entails).

Meanwhile, Chris should really try Firebrand, Dormammu or Vergil in place of Akuma.

LOL @ Spooky with the Shmup knowledge... Deathsmiles... :lol

Nerd Josh out placed Chris G, Noel Brown, and DJ Houshen at NCR. =)

I'm not saying Josh is a fraud, but he's not exactly a top tier Marvel player. He also ended up using PHX (Dante/Hagger/PHX aka Richard Nguyen 3.0) by the end of vanilla's life span.

I do agree with you that Morrigan isn't anything like vanilla PHX, but I do think she's closer than we think.

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
her meter building in astral is all the nerf it needs. I dont mind the tactic if there was a reasonable end in sight.
If you just evade/block everything that you can you barely take more in chip damage than you would just blocking something like Hail Storm and she won't build much meter. Against people who know when not to press buttons, the only thing Astral Vision is good for is timer scams. If you get close enough, you can just snap her out and the power-up will deactivate immediately because it doesn't persist when she's not in play.

A more sensible nerf would be to shave 1 or 2 seconds off of its duration, but even that's not necessary. Being unable to build meter during it would be retarded. That would make it the only power-up hyper in the game that does not build meter when active OR persist on tag out.

Make Soul Drain S as fast as Soul Fist M on the ground, then we'd see the real shit go down. :lol
Let's not go crazy here.

So is there a practical reason why Die's Strange projectile counter isn't getting more play? Besides him almost always being out of meter.
