That sample was so bad. Once they steered away from letting Shinoda rap, this band went downhill fast. That being said, Hybrid Theory is still really great

I'm on the more Fort Minor bandwagon.

The thing that gets me about LP is how in their early albums and in the Fort Minor album they talk about how people said a rock/rap group wouldn't make it and they were proving them wrong, yet their new songs seem to contain less and less rap.

Less ballads, more rap/rock LP.

Rubbish King

The gift that keeps on giving
I remember reading in Kerrang how they are trying to return to their roots, nice fucking try LP, you almost got me to like you again

EDIT: the comments pretty much show LPs new fanbase as a whole now

I imagine much of society views people that listen to Linkin Park beyond high school in the same light as 30 year old men that still watch anime and collect action figures.

And there is good reason for that. You can listen to them and think they are fun but they are in no way good music. Everything about them is juvenile and formulaic. I'm sure you could actually get the band themselves to admit their target demographic is teenagers.

I think most teenagers these days don't even care about Linkin Park.

Also head to LPassociation as a new clip w/ Mike rapping has been released.

I agree with others; Fort Minor and Reanimation kick ass.

Gems on MTM:

Leave Out All The Rest
Bleed it Out
In Between
In Pieces (another one of my top five LP songs. I love this one)

Gems on ATS:

When They Come For Me
Robot Boy
Waiting For the End
Blackout

special mention: Burning in the Skies

Good list.. I would also add 'Little Things Give You Away' for MtM.

Yeah I don't know how many teenagers are into Linkin Park these days.. Im sure there are some, but I highly doubt ATS was catered for that crowd.

Also, I like the new clip, the song should be fun.

Honestly, yeah, sorta reminds me of something E-Type would record.

E-Type is vastly better than anything I've heard by Linkin Park (and those female dancers he employ are hot), besides 'Shadow of the Day', but that one was stolen wholesale from U2 anyway.

That 30 second clip sounded decent enough, but they'd be so much better if they got a better vocalist.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Ugh, why do they never change anything? I mean this is not my type of music, but fuck, it has been a decade.

Shit, I was assuming it'd be September. Sweet dude, I'm on board. The last two OTs I worked on, we collaborated and put stuff together through a Google Doc. Just PM me and we can get working on it, if you want.

The clips of the new single don't make me all too excited. I want another A Thousand Suns. Looks like we're getting an album to please the fans, the record companies, and the radio stations. Goes against the whole message they were saying with their previous album.

It's a shame.

You got all that from a couple 30 seconds samples? Really?

hybrid theory and meteora are sounds of a generation, they will be remembered like the white album and thriller

you guys keep your blind hate on, just remember the gen after the beatles and MJ also made fun of them. so when your grandkids are digging up those albums im sure you'll pump your chest then about how you got to see mike shinoda, chester bennington and mr. Hyun perform

No. Nobody sane will remember Linkin Park like they will the Beatles or Michael Jackson. That is insanely delusional.

Bands usually use singles as a way to introduce what the album sounds like. This sounds like the chorus from the new single with an extension of the rapping verse. It's very much like their hybrid theory and meteora days. You can hear the electronic influence in the background which they've gained with A Thousand Suns.

I remember when The Catalyst was released. You could tell from the clips that the album was going to be something entirely different. Fans were complaining about no guitars, the "techno" vibe from it, and wondering where the rapping was.

I hope this single is a bit more than what's being shown in the clips. Then again, these days I listen to more Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jack White projects. Tastes change over time.

I still wish for another A Thousand Suns. I doubt they'll ever get that experimental again.

I'm so fucking excited for Living Things that it's not even funny.

For those who didn't click the link that Hydrogen posted earlier for LPA or just don't know:
-10 or so extra seconds after the chorus with Shinoda rapping in Burn It Down
-Some of the other song titles are: Lost In The Echo, In My Remains, Castle Of Glass, and I'll Be Gone
-The album, Living Things, is due in June
-They're touring with Incubus
-Tour dates, pre-sales, and other album info comes out tomorrow. And of course, so does Burn It Down

Not really. It's not a sure thing but it's possible.

Its hard to tell if music/movies/games that are popular now will be looked back upon and thought of as classics... I'm sure nobody thought the Beatles would be thought of as they are today back when they first hit the scene.

Having said that, I love me some LP... I'll certainly have fond memories of them.

There's a common reason why The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Run DMC are referred to as classic acts. They all wrote their own material, Beatles moreso in the latter years, which identified their own style.

The problem with a lot of modern acts such as Bieber, Katie Perry, One Direction and other pop acts is they are vehicles driven by the record labels. None of these artists have much background in music and are fine with recording and performing pre-written music.

Linkin Park is a prime example of a band to look at for this. A Thousand Suns was arguably the first time since Hybrid Theory, maybe Reanimation to a certain extent, that the group did what they really wanted. The documentary that came with the album showed the struggle that Warner was having with them going on this creative route. It looks like they've succumbed to pressure and went back to the old way of doing things.

Wow, thats sounds good. I might actually get back into LP. I think I stopped after the second album.

But I heard this song on the radio and I was hooked. Definitely want to hear the rest.

Hybrid and Meteora are still 2 of my favourite. Heard a little of minutes to midnight, but nothing on there really hooked me. I completely skipped thousand suns. Like, I have literally not heard one song from that album, except for maybe in some transformers movie or something?

Wait, to clarify you heard this entire song on the radio?

Lol, my bad. The 30 second snippet that everyone is playing.

Damn, I thought it may be out there to listen to haha

But yeah, I like the sound of the preview mostly.. I also am not too worried about the album, I doubt they would make an album that they didn't want. ATS was fantastic, so Im excited to see where they go.

I heard ATS was very different though from their usual work.

Just popped up in my subscriptions. Listening now.

Edit: Yeah. I'm sticking with my initial impressions of the sample; it's not very good. But, I don't always enjoy their singles and so will have to see.
