Devil May Cry Collection |OT| Over a Decade of Style

I'm pretty sure you can use Trish to get the Bloody Palace achievements. Which is a plus, considering it's the easiest with her.

Does DMC2 have "super" characters?

Yeah Trish is fine for BP.

No Super characters.

On a side note, worst boss fight ever made goes to Tateobesu, the fucking fish in Lucia's mode. In DMD it STAYS invisible for the entire battle which means no lock on. You're pretty much completely blind. Absolutely fucking annoying.

DMC3 will feel incredible no matter what. However if you play it right after DMC2, it'll feel like touching God.

I haven't picked up DMC2 in years. Now I am kind of looking forward to it just to play as Trish seeing the talk about her. I just have to finish up my Hard mode on DMC1.

I wanted to pick this up the other day but wasn't sure which version to go for. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the 360 and PS3 version?

Does anyone else find it odd that they were able to fit all three games on one 360 disc? The three original games were released on DVD so they were probably pretty big. I'm afraid they might have cut a few things in the 360 release.

Fuck I need to get through DMC2 and DMC3 so I can play DMC4 again.

I don't think I appreciated it as much as I would now, for some reason.

I have never played a hack and slash game on the PC but I am wanting to pick up DMC4 now on the PC. I think it will be a nice way to top off my DMC HD collection since DMC4 hasn't been given any extra treatment on the console. I confess I know nothing of PC gaming so this would be my first real PC game. What kind of controller should I use?

Lulz...thought I was waltzing through DMC1 Hard mode but those damned shadows in the secret mission are the death of me.

Wired 360 controller is the way to go.

The ending of DMC4 is so ridiculous, lol. The lyrics are so weird. AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE DAMNED

lol, i agree.

The intro is probably my favorite from this whole generation though, it's pretty incredible i think

I remember the shit fit people had when Dante drops in and blasts the old man in the face and that Dante would be a "villain". :lol

I liked that angle.

DMC2 is putrid. I just played it for the first time. Goddamn it's bad. I almost fell asleep. I used to think it at least looked the part, but it doesn't...big open empty spaces. Boring fuckgame.

I still think a DMC2 sequel could have been cool with Dante cutting his way through Hell for an entire game on the way back to Earth. The Underworld was always underutilized as a play setting in this franchise.

I wonder if that has anything to do with gamestop breaking street date(not as a result but rather indicative of how Capcom treated its release)

Any controller you want. PS3, 360, keyboard, etc.

I have all 3 on the PS2 inclusing the DMC3 Special Edition, and have yet to play any of them. Are the extras and HD sheen worth it? How easy are the trophies btw?

I can only remember like 3 combos:

1. Triangle x4
2. Triangle x4 but press forward before the third hit
3. Triangle x4 but press backwards before the third hit

Something stupid like that.

For the best efficiency, just stick with one of the above and spam your best guns (max them out for an easier ride).

Definitely beat Hard mode though as Dante as you unlock Trish, who controls more like DMC1 Dante. Plus her Air Raid is auto-win as it can eradicate the health bar of a boss in a few seconds. Air Raid + Round Trip + L&O = win. I'll be using her during my DMD run as she'll make it very easy. I'll definitely get far with her in Bloody Palace too.

Inputs in DMC2 for base combos:

R1+/\,/\,/\ (in air) = DMC2's version of Air Rave

Neutral /\ (in air) = Helm Breaker

The following on ground:

Analog Neutral: /\ /\ /\ /\
Analog in any direction: /\ /\ /\
/\ /\, Analog in any direction, /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\
/\ /\ /\, Analog in any direction, /\ /\

These extensions apply to different attacks in Devil Trigger also

Then you have shotgun extensions:
(R1 pressed down) + /\ /\, []
(R1 pressed down) + /\, []
(R1 pressed down) + /\ /\ /\, []

Thanks for the advice, guys. It'll be good help when I start up DMC2. I'm finishing DMC1 DMD right now.

I think the games look gorgeous in HD. There are all sorts of details that I see now that I could never make out in the previous versions (anyone else catch that Umbrella Corp symbol in the arena against Nightmare2?). The extras are nice, in my opinion.

The achievements aren't bad. Going through each game once on normal will net you about half of the achievements/trophies, I believe.

For the price, I really think it's worth it.

I had some time Saturday afternoon to play more DMC. It is just awesome - different in atmosphere from 3 or 4 in a way that I like. I love the combat in the later entries and that's what hooked me into this series to begin with, but I like this spooky exploration stuff a lot, even with the fuck-you fixed cameras.

I left off after beating the mission with the evil blob boss but hopefully will have some time later today to continue.

This game is really, really great. . . except for that swimming part, that just pissed me off. Hopefully it's over with!

Quoting my own post here but I feel stupid. I don't even know if I want to go through with DMC2. Still awful.

I am struck by the similarities I see in it and DmC as far as actual places and enemy design.

I also think that it's quite similar in that the animations and moves are all there, but the actual inputs required to pull them off are incredibly simplified.

But even then, from the sounds of things, DmC seems to simplify things even further.

Seriously, playing as Trish makes DMC2 so much more fun. I also can't stop jizzing over how brilliant the character models look in-game due to the HD (only Dante, Lucia and Trish mind you). Like they're cel-shaded. Fantastic transition.

Trismagia is an absolute bastard on DMD though, and is legitimately difficult because of the amount of projectile spam coming your way.

I really have to get around to playing DMC2, let alone playing as Trish.

Trish seems to be DMC1 Dante in DMC2, from what I remember.

Yeah, same inputs for the sword as Dante in DMC1. Makes the combat more satisfying because it's back to the comfort and familiarity of the first game.

Plus during Round Trips your attacks are pretty much the same as Ifrit's.

Then there's the epic Devil Trigger where Trish dons sunglasses, glows yellow and red, and sprays laser beams that eat up anything via Air Raid.

*swoon*

No "normal" camera controls in DMC3 and using the bumpers for R1 in DMC/2...rage. This needs a patch.

The camera's always been inverted. You can always switch the camera by clicking the right stick anyway... that's the most efficient way to do it. I don't get the issue with the bumpers for R1. That's how it was for DMC4 and it's perfect here.

So annoying how quickly they start throwing DT enemies at you in DMC2's Bloody Palace. Pretty much from 1000 and beyond. Dunno how I'm gonna reach 9000, especially due to the Goats they throw at you constantly with their missile spam.

I'm using Trish though who makes it bearable due to Round Trip but still.

Currently on level 3600 in DMC2's Bloody Palace. It's fucking 3:36am though and I have work at 9. Most likely gonna pause it and leave it on during the day so I can return. No way am I starting from scratch after getting this far and seemingly coping. Can't see much worse being thrown my way unless it's 7 Goats spamming missiles.

DMC is probably my favorite series. I've played 1,3, and 4 multiple times but I wasn't really playing video games for awhile when 2 came out. Why is it considered to be so bad. Is it the story or gameplay? I don't really care about the story so if that's the problem, no big deal. If the combat is radically different and shitty, then maybe I'll just completely skip it.

That, which is what the series prides itself on.

Gameplay is pretty bad and Dante's practically a mute. It's just a sub-par package all around.

I just beat DMC2 with Dante for the first time last night. It was pretty short, but it still felt like it dragged on... maybe that was because I watched a walkthrough of the Secret Room locations at the same time. At least I got those out of the way. I really don't even want to go through with Lucia, but I need to do that in order to unlock Hard mode, and beat that in order to unlock Trish.

It's kind of annoying that of all three games, you have to finish the most playthroughs of DMC2 for completion's sake.

So fucking pissed off. Got to level 4802 in Bloody Palace, 2 levels away from that over 5000 trophy and the cheap piece of shit fuckers throw like 7 Abyss Goats at me spamming their missile attack. There is no such thing as applying skill to something like this because of the small chance at which you do dodge the missiles coming at you from all sides. All that's left to shoot with your guns and chip away. DT when you have some bar too.

However, I did get this far with only 1 L Vital Star and 1 S Vital Star so now what I'm gonna do is stock the FUCK up on every useful thing possible and then go through again.

I'm also wondering whether or not a boss run would be easier...

Still, it took me hours to get this far. This is definitely an endurance run of the highest order. I could S rank DMC4's Bloody Palace with my eyes shut but this is on a major level of cheap.

Picked this up tonight and I'm just about to start DMC1. I've never played these games before since I really suck at stylish action games but I figure I'd give the collection a shot especially since I've been wanting to get into the genre. I've heard it's more offensively based which makes it more appealing to me. I really suck at the defensive based stuff like in Ninja Gaiden.

Will someone please take a break and post a picture of their US disc? I'd like to see what the manual looks like too. I am really considering printing an alternate box art when I get this.

For DMC1, learn to master the roll and the jump. Both have plenty of invincibility frames on startup and once you've learned the animations of most enemy attacks, you can start to get real creative with how you approach the enemies. Just be patient and know that these games become better the more you invest in them.

I haven't revisited the OP yet, but I can't beat Beowulf on hard!

I can't do it with Royalguard at level 1. So I think I will stick with either swordmaster or trickster, but it's so hard to evade his attacks! And I do not know how to evade his projectiles

Easily the best thing about this HD collection is finally being able to play DMC3 in turbo mode :)

afaik it was left out of PAL versions of DMC3 SE. God damn does this game feel good after playing through DMC2.
