Me too. Norn engineer. Going to play a class nothing like what I'm playing for real.
- Retro predicts the final battle in Guild Wars 2 with startling accuracy, exactly like he did for Cataclysm a month after the last boss fight of the PREVIOUS expansion.

Something rarely talked about that I'd only vaguely remembered but here it is. ANet has gone far enough as to create languages in the world and offer ciphers so you can learn it and read stuff in game.

It is a hybrid of the old Ascalonian and Old Krytan writing styles and was created in 1105 AE by the Durmand Priory. Villem Caraga of the Priory wrote about the creation of this system in Cultural Diffusion in Contemporary Kryta.

I've been waiting to play an Asuran Warrior ever since EotN. Once the full game is out, I'll probably try that for a bit.
So, if I'm looking at the clock on guildwars2.com correctly, for us poor Europeans, the beta will start late friday evening and end early monday morning.

I think one of the more exciting things about the game is: you can party up with a few of your fellow guildmates or friends just lollygagging about. When there's a world event nearby, hey guildies! Time for action!
Now everyone is fighting against one those mini-world bosses that we've seen in videos: The Shatterer, Shadow Behemoth, and Tequatl the Sunless.
I'm going to be one of those folks quickly running around and rezzing people, but if you constantly die for doing the same stuff over and over...
*sigh*

Eh, yesterday I still was saying that I weren't able to get a Guild Wars 2 CE in the Netherlands, and now it seems I'm getting two since I couldn't cancel an order.
Well. There's no cutoff time yet. One of the magicmen in here can find the relevant quote quicker than me I bet...
edit: Hmmm I can't find it. Basically they said they're going to try to maintain capacity for as many people as sign up, but if they hit a certain amount they can't handle without expansion they will have to temporarily block new beta access. So the sooner you buy it, you can guarantee your access. But doing what you said should be fine, anyway.

"Many of our community members are asking about how long the pre-purchase offer will last.
Pre-purchase will run up until shortly before launch. However, we also want to maintain a high quality of service for those who have pre-purchased and are participating in the Beta Weekend Events.
With that in mind, if we max out our beta server capacity, we may *temporarily* make pre-purchase unavailable until we can bring more capacity online. Bottom line is if you want to participate in the Beta Weekend Events, don’t wait. ~RB2"

Nah, I'm talking about other folks playing that are not in the guild. In one of the Eye of the North dungeons, there's this flaming boulder that traverses a very specific path. The fight is with Kathandrax I believe. We took a random with us, and every single time just stood there shooting Kath, and dying from these boulders.
Granted we were doing this on HM so we decided to let him stay dead after a bit. He kept asking the monk to resurrect him.

Humans are BORING. I tend not to play them in any game that gives options. The only exception to this is when the only other option is elf, in which case humans are just fine.

Heh, for the same reason I'll probably play female Sylvari as well. We can be friends on that account I suppose.
I'm still confused as to what the heck is going on. Feels like I've 3 or 4 different usernames and passwords now just for anet and gw2 stuff.

So I just pre-ordered GW2 and the page where I put in my info I clicked to finalize the order and there is just a dial spinning next to complete purchase. I did receive a email and registered my key so I am guessing that I am good and don't need to wait for a page to load?

One of the things I find very interesting about GW2 is that the Humans are actually one of the older races while the elf-like Sylvari are the younger. It's an interesting reversal from traditional fantasy.
