I want Ziggler to face Cesaro, just to see how he sells the uppercut.

He'll probably do a full mid-air 360.

I wish he would do the airplane spin in WWE, I'd like to see Ziggler sell THAT.

Here's a hilarious clip from the Chuck Taylor/Archibald Peck match from Chikara:

This reminds me, I need to catch up on the recent CHIKARA shows - that match looks hilarious.

*edit, as awesome as Claudio's airplane spin is, nothing beats Danielsons;

Lol. I tried to find the one from ROH where he airplane spins everyone, even the ref, and then tries to spin Samoa Joe. The look on Joe's face is priceless.

EDIT: speaking of Chikara, they had some matches at a punk fest called Road to Ruin in Philly last night. Apparently Ultramantis Black got on stage with the band Pissed Jeans and did the vocals for a cover of Agnostic Front's "Victim In Pain". I wish I could have seen that.

This match was amazing. I love the beginning where Chuck goes "I'm going to drown you" Everyone needs to see this match in it's entirety.

I was coming here to post Road to Ruin results. It's erie how many times we come to post the same things bart.

CHIKARA results from the "Road to Ruin" Fest in Philly.

Soooo, cliff notes I got from a friend about today's show at the "Road to Ruin" festival. As much to say, it was the farthest from "family-friendly" ever...probably more than the European shows a few years back. Hilariously enough, the Batiri MORE than fired back with them, proving that they're the greatest team EVER. Kobald was stealing people's beers and drinking them/pouring them on his head. Someone in the crowd yelled "this is bulls***" and Kodama yelled "EXACTLY!" - someone yelled "you suck" and Kobald, who fired back "no, you suck!" and they went back and forth a few times til Kobald ended it with "YOUR MOTHER SUCKS!"

-Soldier Ant brought Kobald around and had everyone from Bryce, to all of us in the front row, to Gavin, to Zia, chop him. That was fun, but far from the wildest thing...

-ORANGE CASSIDY wrestled in jeans and high tops (accompanied to the ring by a beer drinking, barefoot Chuck Taylor, Drew Gulak in the most ridiculous jacket I've ever seen, which we later found out he just found backstage somewhere, and...a swamp monster). He lost to Grizzly Redwood in approximately six seconds.

-Some idiots in the crowd started yelling "show your tits" at Saturyne. They were treated to flashes by Kobald and Bryce instead.

-Green Ant came to the ring on a skateboard.

-A few bands after the show, the band Pissed Jeans covered Agnostic Front's "Victim In Pain"...with UltraMantis on vocals and Dragonfly on guitar. Mantis was barefoot and stagedove after the song. The swamp monster was in the pit and Chuck Taylor was videotaping the whole thing. I could not make this up if I tried.

==

first show:

Ophidian over Grizzly Redwood
Chuck Taylor over Saturyne
Mr Touchdown over Dragonfly
Trios match: The Colony over The Batiri

second show:

UltraMantis Black and Dragonfly over The Batiri
Grizzly Redwood over Orange Cassidy
Kobald over Saturyne
trios match: The Colony over Ophidian and Los Ice Creams

This sounds amazing I really hope some of this ends up on youtube.

Also a little sneak peek at the IPPV CHIKARA has scheduled for June.

Great minds, sir. Great minds. Thank you for posting the results, though. I only found out about the UMB/Pissed Jeans thing because someone mentioned it in a wrestling thread on a hardcore/punk board I frequent.

Yea I wish they would play remotely close to me so I could check 'em out. It's cool finding out these little things like similar band interests and whatnot with all you guys. I think the Chikarasaurus Rex will be the first Chikara iPPV I watch live. I pray it goes smoother than ROHs. I will never get an ROH iPPV again.

Kind of a random question, but does anyone know where I can find a copy of Glory by Honor VIII: The Final Countdown (in the US)?

I hadn't been following ROH (or wrestling in general) for a few years and completely missed Nigel's farewell tour, alnog with pretty much everything else. I'd really love to see the Danielson/McGuinness match, which I know can get on the McGuinness set ROH has on their site, but the whole card seems really solid especially Ladder War 2.

If anyone knows where I can get it please post here or pm me a link. Thanks Gaf!

As announced on this weeks edition of ROH TV, a big rematch from Showdown in the Sun has been signed for the Border Wars iPPV on May 12th - here's the current line-up;

  • Davey Richards (c) vs Kevin Steen - ROH World Heavyweight Title Match
  • Roderick Strong vs Fit Finlay - Special Challenge, non-title match
  • The Briscoe Brothers (c) vs Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team - ROH World Heavyweight Tag Team Title Fight Without Honor
  • Eddie Edwards vs Rhino
  • Lance Storm vs Mike Bennett - Showdown in the Sun rematch

Plus, signed to appear;

  • Jay Lethal
  • Michael Elgin
  • The All-Night Express
  • The Young Bucks
  • Tommaso Ciampa

I'm guessing Lethal will face Ciampa, as he wants revenge for Ciampa costing him the TV title, and we'll have another match between TYB & ANX.

Interestingly, ROH have not announced how the iPPV will be presented, after the debacle over WrestleMania weekend, and the ROH show does not appear on GFL's website.

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that - would definitely be a problem, as Steen, Strong, Cole, O'Reilly, Callihan and any other contracted DGUSA/ROH talent wouldn't be able to work the shows. I'm sure PWG could put on a great iPPV with just their regular guys not signed elsewhere, some other West Coast talent and some fly-in's, but it wouldn't be the same without those listed above, Steen and Strong, especially.

Also, the American Legion has shitty internet!

And holy crap last night was awesome. Seeing Callihan live is just so amazing. As soon as Mack/Generico tag team name was announced, the crowd totally swung their way. For those that don't follow PWG, Generico used to be in a tag team called 2 Skinny Black Guys. Yet that still doesn't crack the top 3 tag team names in PWG history. Also, Generico is now selling Mask keychains for $10. Amazing. Nigel McGuinness was there catching the show too

Glad you had a good time man, it sounded crazy from the spoilers - and man, I miss Human Tornado :( Guy should have been a star.

Ah, that'd make it kinda difficult then - perhaps they could do an iPPV for the LA convention show next year.

oh god...I was watching the KotR stuff on netflix and heard X-Factor's theme...which is funny because they gave American Bad Ass Taker some shitty Super Nintendo quality theme.

I watched a little bit of it as well. The Hitman vs Bam Bam was a great match. I forgot how great Bigelow was.

Bigelow was set to get such a huge push back in the day. He never could shed enough weight - a lot of people remember him as a butterball, but people forget how agile he was AND how huge, heightwise, he was as well. Bigelow was awesome.

I watched the first episode of the KotR videos yesterday. Pretty good matches set up, aside from Goldust-Ahmed Johnson. There was only so much Goldust can do, though.

Congolese wrestlers – Kinshasa, 2010

Eight million inhabitants, thousands of shegués (street children), hundreds of wrestlers and their brass bands. Edingwe, Dragon, City Train, Mbokotomo : the “legends” of Congolese wrestling invent themselves on a daily basis in the outskirts of Kinshasa.

Body-building, and even black magic enthusiasts fight for glory in makeshift rings. They come from the streets and their charisma commands respect and admiration. But the heros of the ring are modest in victory : « Kobeta libanga papa mundele » [we manage, white man]. In the last hours of the day, when they have hung up their everyday “occupations”, they put on masks and wrestling kit ready to fight.

The motorised parade of wrestlers attracts crowds from the dusty streets of Massina, Ngili and Matete, towns round the Congolese capital. In back yards, on the tables of the street cafés, or even in the street, the spell casters warm up over primus stoves and cannabis. The ring is hastily set up, the judge climbs onto the ropes. “Let the match begin!” The fight starts and is usually more or less fixed. Rounds follow one another until the final spell is cast, until the adversary is floored, until the next fight.

Should have been the draft.
They already moved Del Rio over to Smackdown for no other reason other than challenging Sheamus for a match after he returned from injury.

RAW is a SuperShow anyway getting the main event and usual midcard guys over from Smackdown.

Remember last year when Cena got drafted to Smackdown, but everybody and their 100 year old grandmother knew it wouldn't stand, and behold by the end of the night, he's back on RAW.

The draft is still an exciting premise.
