lol there aren't 200 games that sold a million copies on wii
Hm, did a quick Google search and i found about 20 3rd party titles that have sold over 1 million copies each in the US. I dont think that there are many extra games in Europe that has sold a million copies. In Japan there is Monster Hunter 3. So maybe he ment 20 instead of 200.

Yup. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Dead Space 3 Wii U. If not, I'll always have the PC version :)

Edit: not even half of those game will appear on Wii U. Except for Madden, FIFA and NfS :p

I don't see this happening to be perfectly honest, but gaf would be a weird place if nintendo ever managed to reclaim the hardcore mantle with the wii u.

I'm not trying to wander off into a some kind of fantasy wankfest about nintendo taking over the world or anything, and like I said, I don't see it happening anyway. But it's certainly not impossible, just unlikely. If it did happen though, gaf would be kind of an awkward place for awhile, at least for me.

Hmm, gonna have to mull this one over for a couple weeks.

I know, this example just FINISH HIM you :p
Seriously, Shepard shaped scrambled-eggs. IdeaMan's Ideas are DA BEST !

And please, for some of you, refrain yourselves to post something in this new thread that could make you banned. Everytime a topic such as this is created, we loose someone from here. I'm a sentimental guy, i'm kinda attached to a lot of you, even the doubtful ones (well, those avoiding personal attacks & apparent weird and misplaced anger), i miss you, Ubermatik, Herzogzwei, etc etc.

Amen. I miss them and wish we coud bring them back..

hmm

usually when someone says "fat chance" it's sarcastic, as in "not going to happen". this guy however said "not a fat chance". can we take that as the double negative to mean "it's not NOT going to happen"?

i think crysis 3 is gonna come to wii u. just watch.

Seemed to me that he paused between "not a" and "fat chance".

Sounded like he was going to say "not a chance" and then changed. Don't know if that means it will be and he didn't want to say "not a chance" since it was going to be released or not though.

Reading through that thread and I don't see anyone making it shit, except Grymm. But that doesn't surprise me.

Alright, back to reading.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.

If Nintendo reclaimed the "hardcore", the meaning of the word would change again.

The meaning has already moved from "games that require skill and dedication to beat" to "games that swear and have lots of blood and guts".

Mark my words, whatever Nintendo do, the other two consoles will always make them the outsider.

Well, going off of Tomb Raider and Epic Mickey 2 this appears to be the case. I'm guessing the 75% of the third party games I'm getting this year won't be on Wii U. It's hard not to be pessimistic about this. People around here keep trying to remain optimistic, but there's just too many reports about specs for me to remain that way. In the end, it's the games though, and I'm beginning to have my doubts. Even if Wii U was just as powerful as Durango and Orbius I think third parties would still be reluctant to support it. I'm beginning to think Wii U will be for Nintendo games and maybe a handful of third party exclusives. The better pull some magic off at E3.

I do think the multi platform games will come with some regularity in the spring/summer 2013. I don't think third parties can afford to ignore a viable platform. But I think this next round of games we'll miss b/c publishers/devs don't want devote the resources using late dev kits late in the development cycle.

Third parties already set their minds about Wii U, I doubt that Crysis 3 would performed great on Wii U anyway, it seems 3rd parties don´t care about ports costing cheap either, they must think that a Wii U version will sell so low that not even a port is worth considering.

Is it just me who thinks it'll be like back when nobody wanted to do PS3 ports because it was difficult, being more advanced architecture? Then Bioshock and such came out anyway.

The thing is, Nintendo have apparently made it easy to port games from 360 for precisely this reason.

This endeavour to court third-parties is turning out to be just as sickening as I expected. I hope there's some kind of threshold to cross when every dev won't have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the platform. Don't see it happening though.

It just kind of ruins the excitement for what is going to be a great system for Nintendo fans. :(

That's what I think will happen.

It'll still be a great system for Nintendo fans. There will just be really shitty 3rd party support as usual, perhaps even worse if I'm being pessimistic.

As a Nintendo fan and gaming fan, I know that the Wii U cannot be my only nextgen console. I'll have to buy the other consoles (or PC) to play other games most of the time. But the Wii U is going to be home to the next Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Eternal Darkness (fingers crossed) and much more. So there's a lot to be happy about, but Nintendo fans get way to hyped up about the possibility that this system is going to be good for 3rd partys and for nextgen ports when that will most likely not be the case down the road.

Come on guys. Do you all really think there's going to be shitty third party support? REALLY? Nintendo have reiterated that they need it. Wii sales have proven they need it. We know they need it. Publishers want it. It's a new system, more powerful than any console out there.

Devs are NDA'd right up the wazzoo at present so they can't say diddly squat. It's going to miss some titles due to timing and resources and those might come later in a special edition if the install base makes it worth it. No need to get worried that the odd game isn't coming just yet.

Start worrying after E3 when we're told the future lineup and every game ends in a Z.

Yea I understand the meaningfulness of third party support and all but in the end Im not sure If really could care about much as I know I will be buying the next Xbox as well, but if next gen is like this gen for xbox and ps3 Wii-U may be my only console I am seriously burnt out on the stable fps and stuff..I enjoy playing these games dont get me wrong but they just lack some kinda quality Im still trying to figure out without being Nintendo biased of course lol.

Yeah. For me this isn't such a huge issue, as I'm one who buys Nintendo for Nintendo. I've had my fill of all the best 3P franchises this gen, but alot of people here didn't, from what I can tell. At most I'm hoping for some new second party hits and more acquisitions so that Nintendo isn't outputting at a slow rate again.

It's like a gamer soap opera. You know, we are a crowd that usually mock and joke about this kind of TV shows that our moms & girlfriend follow... but we are the same ! we succumb to the same psychological delicacies & patterns, we love dramas, we love soap, we love gossip.

GG*, soon to your screens !

I just made a post elsewhere saying this should be the most likely concern to have with Wii U's power. Signs seem to point towards Wii U have two stages of power. If games don't push towards the second stage, how likely will they even push the first stage? While PS3's difficulties kept most from pushing the hardware, will Wii U's easy portability (for most) make some to most devs content with just getting the game to run on Wii U and nothing more?

Some of you should do what I do. If I click on that type of thread (I don't half the time), I only skim maybe the first page as I already know how it will turn out.

Posts like these are why specialguy did that hit-n-run lol.

The Wii U is going to have better third party support than the Wii but a far cry from its competitors.

As wsippel and IdeaMan said, it's (currently, at least) not a hardware issue.
I don't know. Basically saying "fuck no" without even giving a reason is weird, especially for a major middleware developer.

I'm not saying it will 100% have shitty 3rd party support, but I think it may be good idea to keep our hopes grounded. I don't have great faith or confidence that publishers/developers are going to put in enough money and effort to make a great ports to the Wii U, in the beginning and later on. Now, I really hope that I'm wrong, but looking at how things went with the Wii situation I don't have the most optimistic outlook. I really hope Nintendo is working their asses off to sign some deals and get good support, but just the fact that some developers talk like they've been burned by Nintendo in the past really kills my dreams of a Nintendo system filled with great games from a plethora of companies.

I think Nintendo should money hat some key third party titles and forget about massive 3rd party support, and start working on more second party titles to fill the voids. In other words:
-Make more Xenoblades
-Publishing more Fatal Frames
-Fund more Last Stories
-Buy out more Monoliths
-Work more closely with near third parties like Level 5, Marvelous.
-Create some new IPs (Retro).

If 3rd parties don´t want to create content on Wii U Nintendo should make those via funding, co-developments, in exchange of total exclusivity.
