Do you even know how many things can go wrong? Just one of them can poop the game. Specially when the fault is not under your control since the game is played over something that is not reliable. Handling a live database is like playing with fire with your bare hands.

Yes, the internet is not reliable, and i'm talking about the hardware/software part. UDP drops, congestions in nodes, DNS not updated, etc etc etc etc.

There are hiccups, but even Blizzard with months of testing can launch a patch and suddenly the whole server goes down.

Im sure they will refund a days worth of time, they usually do with stuff like this in other mmos.

Still cant decide wether to go NA or EU version.. hmmm.

I'm not even talking about bugs, I'm talking about server overload and queue times.

So glad I rolled on BC. Learned that lesson from the early days of Blackrock.

One thing extra to the conversation. Yes those problems were 7 years ago, but persisted well afterward as well. It used to be the big joke on every WoW expansion when the most popular server would chain crash after each major update when they were slammed with mass traffic.

All is fun and well until you manage million dollar integrated data centers where one problem can cascade into a cluster fuck.

Offered new server.
Offering free transfers.
Canceled update to bring servers live.
Offered apology for downtime.

It isn't even launch yet, what else do you want them to do sacrifice their first borns?

Too many people these days don't understand the scale on which MMOs operate, even small ones. As launches go this one's actually not completely terrible, it's actually pretty average for an MMO launch. If anything you want your game to be so popular that servers get filled up, have 2 hour queues, and crash. It means people WANT to play your game and are DDoSing your servers trying to get in and play it.

So after putting some time in I get the impression there's no branching zones? Like every alt will follow the exact same leveling path?

I'm still in the first "real" area after the main city, so maybe options appear later?

Anyone mess around with their gama? I usually have to lower it but I think I might actually have to raise it. I just can't get a good gauge of how it's suppose to be.

*edit raised it up to 48 and seems to be better.

Made a shiba inu lookin archer named Indieband on dragon fall. Sorc is named buttered.panda. So far I'm really enjoying both. Not sure which I will focus on but I'm preffering archer more.

Archer is legit. Is there ever an ability evolution that allows you to move while firing?

I have no idea but I'm enjoying it the most so far. My fireball tossing panda will have to wait. I like the challenge of keeping a specific range on targets for max damage rather than just hold back and shoot.
