The Dark Knight Rises - Trailer 3

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm kind of doubting this will beat Avengers at box office. Worldwide hitting 500 milli by Sunday possibly? GOD DAMN.

It will, unless it is a huge Spider-Man 3 level let down in which people will avoid rewatches in the hopes of forgetting its existence. Maybe they'll retcon Bruce's parents death so that it was actually Bane!

LOL I could imagine a little kid rising out of the dumpster with a shaved head and just shooting Bruce's parents.

I dunno man, was TDK really that strong overseas? It seems like a majority of the money came domestically. We haven't seen how that will fare with Avengers yet but it seems like a huge hit worldwide so far.

The Avengers
TDKR
Prometheus
Skyfall

What have we done to deserve all these blockbusters?

Plus new Paul W.S. Anderson, new Malick, Spielberg's Lincoln... My heart can't take so many great movies in one year.

New film from Andrew Dominik (Jesse James, Chopper) and Martin McDonagh (In Bruges) as well. SO HOT RIGHT NOW

Hobbit dude..

Nolan's name is much stronger, Batman's name is much stronger, and the international market is much stronger in 2012.

I believe it can double TDK's overseas numbers with WB's marketing.

TDK was strong overseas and now you can add China and Russia to the mix big time.

Hmmmm... I thought Bruce was in a wheelchair in the beginning as well. I still think he is, there's something artificial about how he moves.

Just trying to place it chronologically is a pain. If it's at the end, then Bane crippled him and perhaps Blake is now the new Batman, since Wayne has grown that awesome beard. Or it's after his escape and he takes a long, long time to heal, and in that amount of time he grows the beard and then begins to train up again Rocky-style. If it's at the beginning, why is Wayne faking being in a wheelchair? He seems really discontented in that shot, so...

I hope that Wayne doesn't die though. If JGL takes on the mantle, that's fine, but I'm hoping Bruce finds like, some semblance of peace and retires.

Though in every shot, that's Bruce as Batman. He even has his mouth slightly open which I think he did in the other movies. Which looks funny.

Except maybe the Bridge shot.

I dunno, the movies themselves are very cerebral but Batman doesn't feel cerebral as a character. The one action scene that I thought kind of caught the essence of Batman was the dock scene where he's being very Predator like.

I guess the fact that the rest of the action sequences just feel really poorly shot and not very reflective of how I'd expect Batman to handle the situations really hampers the films for me. I basically think everything is good about the movies but the actual Batman parts.

I always felt that was intentional. He seems pretty brutish and un-elegant in most of his encounters thus far but keep in mind he's just starting off...

At least that's always been my excuse though it's a terrible one. I remember in TDK he went to face the joker and he just kind of... walked up to him. That was the most non-Batman thing he could've possibly done. All he had to do was say "hi..." and it would've been perfect. In general I don't think Nolan handles the Batman character very well. The voice, the tactics (or lack thereof), the blatant disregard for everything (remember when he almost blew up two kids in the TDK?), the fighting style. His "Batman" is terrible. But thankfully everything else going on around him is so great.

ok this is swinging for the fences, but we don't get to see the armor so it could be jgl in the azreal suit

You are either trolling, or terrible with predictions. I promise you, at no point will JGL put on a superhero costume.

Hmmmm... I thought Bruce was in a wheelchair in the beginning as well. I still think he is, there's something artificial about how he moves.

In the first trailer when we see his reflection at the start he has the beard and is walking with a cane. Don't think he's in a wheelchair.

You've seen this movie now? I can only speak from previous Nolan films but Inception had a great fight scene in the hotel.

You can't bring up Inception in defense of good fighting choreography since the walls did all the fighting.

And yes, I agree that the dock scene in Begins along with the hallucinogen factory scene depict the ninja Bat I want to see return.

The concept was amazing, but the actual fight wasn't spectacular. JGL doesn't have longtime fight training.

You know, I think I'm gonna love the movie, but that trailer really didn't grab me as much as I'd hoped it would. I think it was cut in a way as to be uber evasive of spoilers. Which is nice, but it also makes for a scattershot trailer. Hated the flying Tumbler though. So goofy. Loved most of the rest of it.

Alfred bringing it though. "I won't bury another member of the Wayne family. If you die, I'm leaving your fucking ass in the gutter and taking the Benz!"

Why are people hating on the Tumbler?! It just looks badass.

Rolls, bro.

Well there is only one Wayne alive...

Or is there?! You forgot Bruce's long lost cousin Cletus Wayne.

2 reasons for me:

1. It seems like too much for Nolan's Batman movies. Don't get me wrong - I don't agree for a second with the notion that Nolan's films are gritty and grounded - there is a ton of over the top cheese in both movies. But not to this level. But what makes it even worse is....
2. The physics of it. The Tumbler looks like its completely weightless. No momentum, nothing.

I think the shot is playing in reverse, that's why it looks so awkward. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that in a trailer. (There's a lot of other weird cuts in this trailer too, like cutting to Bruce talking while dancing with Selina but the dialogue not being aligned with the mouth movements).

I don't think its just tumbler with rotors. It looks different. The previous trailer had a longer look at it and it looked fine.

I only felt it's weightlessness in the shot of it taking off and spinning. And I hope shots like that are minimal.

The scene where it's chasing down the tumbler however looks great. It reminds me of a harrier.

Stuff I loved though:

- the overall cinematography; Pfister seems to get better with each film
- bearded Bruce in a wheelchair
- Anne looks like she is going to really kill it. She won't be the Heath Ledger of the film. She'll be the Aaron Eckhart of it
- Hardy is now somewhat understandable
- Alfred's line/delivery
- Batvoice seems toned down greatly
- the music

You're not necessarily wrong about the second part, but the first I would just extend that disbelief a tiny little more.

Nothing so ridiculous as to ruin the movie though, glad you liked the rest of the trailer. Hardy's killing it.

I don't want to comment on Nolan's approach to CG because DM will yell at me. :(

I trust Nolan but I'm getting this feeling as well.

BTW, the hover vehicle is called The Bat. And no, it's not a Tumbler that transforms into it, it's a totally separate vehicle.

When they shot most of the scenes with it chasing the camo Tumber's down the street, they actually had a real life sized prop held up by a crane. So it's actually there and has weight.

BTW, found this at the SHH boards, kinda neat comparison shot between the 2nd and 3rd trailers... color correction, CG buildings added in the background and wing flap adjustments on the Bat.

The stuff with JGL and the kid made me think of the stuff with Prince Joffrey and Rachel in BB, which is definitely a good thing.

I can't believe that neither Gary Oldman nor Morgan Freeman had any dialogue in this trailer, and that Michael Caine only had one line.

Just seems odd his choice of words
As a butler he can't call Bruce "you", it's always master wayne/Bruce. And why would he say "the Wayne family"
idk just inconsistencies in the way I think his character talks to Bruce.

I mean we do have a certain woman who Bruce has swum with in the comics.

How does Catwoman have a batpod?

"Your punishment must be more severe." Oh man, I can't wait to see what Bane does to Batman. If he is as brutal and as imposing as they're hyping him to be, my god this will be glorious.

Huh? He's like the dude's father now. Of course he's going to be familiar when he's emotional.

It also looks like the dialogue in the new trailer is a continuation of Alfred's "You are as precious to me as you were to your own mother and father. I swore to them I would protect you, and I haven't" from the first trailer. Follow that up with "I won't bury you. I've buried enough members of the Wayne family" and you have yourself a touching family moment. Or reversed, but you get the picture. ;D

His punishment is that he cripples Bruce Wayne so he has to watch the city burn.

Dude.

Seriously.

You're looking too deeply. How the hell else is he supposed to refer to Bruce in the second person?

"You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."

"With respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man that you don't fully understand, either."

Would've been better as "Master Wayne crossed the line first, Master Wayne. Bruce squeezed them, Master Wayne hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."

"With respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man that Master Wayne doesn't fully understand, either, Bruce Wayne, who I am speaking to."

Ah rewatchd the trailer same clothes/room

What I'm really hoping for is that when Bruce is alone and hopeless at the bottom of that giant well, we get a quick flash of Thomas Wayne descending and reaching for Bruce accompanied by 'Why do we fall?' Then obviously he starts climbing the fuck back out and has sex with lots of womens.
