Wow...that is a depressing list of crap people watch. Korra (Edit: and GoT, missed that at the bottom there) is the only show with an actual plot there. I pretty much stopped watching TV with the advent of Reality TV Takeover and I sure haven't missed anything.

the NBA Playoffs writes itself.

Finally caught up with this and Game of Thrones; good stuff (for both).

Amon looks like it might be a great antagonist, although i don't understand one thing: are the councilmen all benders? I mean that's pretty idiotic, when you have basically a civil war going on, on the subject.

Yep, they are. We talked about it before. Basically when the council was established, it was pretty normal to think in the categories of benders for each nation, but now that things have changed, it is pretty outdated. Though I don't think having benders in there would change anything about Amon and his goals.

It's not specified that that the councilmen have to be benders—just representatives from the different nations, probably elected back in the nation capitals/sent as ambassadors by the nation's rulers.

Actually the composition of the council is not really a complaint in the show itself. neither are the non benders complaining that bending is taking away their jobs (going by nick's website article on
the homeless hobo in the park
). The source of the anger seems to be bullying and extortion by benders on the micro level. Which is why Tarrlol should have set up the task force to go after the triads and their henchmen
arrest Bolin! :p
instead of targeting non benders learning chi blocking. My speculation is that Tarrlol is secretly a triad boss.

Well, it may not be an issue now, and it may not be an issue for Amon, but if things go further downhill, having at least one non-bender in the council could make it look less fishy, in the people's eyes.

Of course it's for the sake of argument, i'm not saying it will necessarily be an issue in the show. :p

I'll go back and read the old discussion, anyway.

No, I agree with you that it is not fair the way it is right now. The best suggestion someone made was that each nation should be represented by two people, one bender and one non-bender. Though that might bring new problems with it for making important decissions.

A larger body of elected representatives always makes it harder to make decisions, but it ensures that the decisions that get made better represent what the public wants.

Sato will be the first official elected that's a non-bender.

Certainly didn't hold back in Korra's design

Might have gone slightly overboard

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I think that's on top of her ponytail.

Lovely fatty water tribe breasts~

I can't believe I'm descending to this level.

The word you're looking for is firm, billie

I'm glad she's not a traditional superhero because she would be wearing the most atrocious boob-window gear. Power girl all up in dat.

Just saw the latest episode. This series is much more different than aang and I like it. While right now it seems smaller in scope I feel more towards Korra and her plight to beet amon.

Finished season 1 of TLA.

You can definitely see how different the shows are. This one is very much focused on Korra. Bolin/Mako haven't gotten much development outside of WE'RE POOR AND OUR PARENTS ARE DEAD. There's no secondary story with Zuko either. Zuko was a bit relatable and I feel they could have made non-benders/amon relatable too, but its too late for that now.

There have been 4 episodes.

So my brother jokingly made the observation that Sokka's and Amon's boots are similar looking (mainly for the part that covers the knee).. did Sokka had any son, by any chance?

FUCK. Just watched the last two episodes. Both were amazing. Loved the animation and music during the fight with the Chi Blockers.

Continue to love Korra and adult Aang looks fucking badass in action. I want to see more.

Heh, yeah, I really don't notice just watching the show. But when you see it called out in a still frame like that it is a little ridiculous. I guess exaggerated anatomy is just part of the deal with animated shows, even ones aimed at kids.

Yes, but he worked his way up from NOTHING.

Speculation:
Equalists, maybe Amon, gave him the money for starting his Factory.
IF Amon gave him the money he would have to be really old. Sato got the money when he was quite young, and I doubt Amon would have had that much money if he was the Same age. So the way Sato looks Amon would be well over 50 by now

I'm going to go with Sato is a good guy. No way he's involved with Amon.

We're all going to look back at these first few episodes and laugh at the silly things we thought of to keep us busy until Saturday.

Damn, Production IG has one of the best anime production values themselves. Ghost in the Shell series is still pretty much a flawless anime to me.

Avatar was dubbed for Japanese release but Nick Japan folded before it was released

They found the tracks though! Don't know what they're going to do with them, but whatever

God I love Bryan and his blog

It never aired in Japan? I was under the impression it had. Or perhaps he meant they weren't aired to completion.

There was a rumor going around the old Avatar /co/ threads on 4chan years back that the Japanese fanbase (small as it was) were not at all happy with the VAs chosen for the Avatar dub. I suppose those impressions may have come from previews rather than the episodes themselves.

Another rumor stated that any interest in Avatar faded when some 2ch anon, who was following the American TV broadcasts, pretty much spoiled all of Season 3 one day and the Japanese collectively said "Fuck it, I'm out" and bailed. But I never saw any confirmation for those rumors so don't take my word for it.
