GT Academy 2012: From Virtual to Reality

Damn you ashk!!!! You ruined my 1st place streak, and I just can't beat you on 1-1!! Been trying it for ages.

1st place of the FL leaderboard on all the other stages though -.-

Ability to adjust the volume of sfx and music on the race pause menu was the only change I noticed.

I do believe I have beaten every person on my friends list. Don't worry if I am not first I will make sure I am tomorrow.

I sucked at round 1,
but did better at round 2.
Golds were pretty easy.

also,
MM owned round 1, damn!

Yeah I agree the current tournament format sucks. Would have been a lot better if it was tiered. So say the first round is open for 4 days, at the end of the 4 days only the top 90% get to move on to the next round. And at the end of round 2 only the top 80% move on, and so on. Would have been more fun to see who of your friends can stay in the longest, and also kept people coming back everyday to improve times and make sure you make the cut.

Well, none of you sent me a friend invite, so I guess I'm forever alone :(

Still, if you keep posting times here at least I've got something to aim for/beat :D

I don't know if any of you have read/watched Initial D, but the event in the first round with the Cape Ring corner, the guy in first place is there because he used the trick where you hook the inside of your wheel to the curb, lol.

Ha, the old gutter trick.

I was last among my friends list on my first trip through last night, lol. I might put some more time in tonight. Anyone feel free to add me (same PSN as name here).

Ha! I noticed that as well. I tried it but it didn't go as well for me.

I'll add you

I will add some of you! My PSN id is gnrcat if you want!

I've golded the two rounds in the first try except 2. Now on to try to better my times!

Ok, i've sent friend invites to Mclaren777, Poliphony, Metalmurphy, Kaze13 and paskowitz. See you soon!

I'm not good at it, but i would like some competition!;)

Just moved to a place, starting from scratch basically so I don't have a place to mount (or sit) my wheel =/.

Damniiiit.

Any new physics changes?

Kaze13 and paskowitz are ruining my leaderboards -.-

Also I was racing against the 1st place ghost on 5-5, I actually caught up with him in the final 2 corners, I mean, I was faster then the guy in 1st place in that freaking section, if I can just figure out what magic he used to get out of the first corner that fast and tidy I can be 1st WW

Its the same. If there are changes, they are minimal.

Tires feel different, for comfort softs they have plenty of grip.

That or the Silvia is super stable(or slow). Usually Id think I would be spinning out or sliding everywhere especially at the Ring, but the feedback feels good and you can attack it pretty hard.

Brake only 5-10% on corner entry and turn in hard. Then throttle out.

Yeah, that's easy for me... on paper -.-

Don't bother trying to imitate the ghost car. Watch the reply from the main menu at least 10 times. Memorize the braking points, turn in points and pedal input amount and then go from there.

Try nailing down a section at a time, then focus on doing one clean run. After you get the first part, move to the next, then the next. Then after that try to go for a whole lap. You have to gradually expand your comfort zone.

Are you talking about the stage 5-5 of the GTA? I thought everybody had the same timing!

Poor Lebanon :(
Is it not on PSN yet there?

Is there a global setting for TCS? In fact is there one in the full game too? It's annoying to have to edit it every challenge/car.

Don´t think so, it´s probably my biggest annoyance in the main game too. 1,000 cars and every single one needs setting up independantly...

Thanks for adding me Aeroslash and paskowitz by the way, appreciated!

3. ...Spain

Serious business here. Better gold average than Japan, and much, much better than USA. Would be interesting to have in-depth data, like "how many people played, didn't even got a bronze and gave up per country" ie.

Haven't had the chance to log in today, but pasko, have you beaten the time I set on 2-1 (or was it 2-2) that I set yesterday? ;)

I do not care about 2-1. 2-2 through 2-5 is all I am focusing on. My 2-3 is my only decent time so far. Every other run has been mediocre by my standards. I know I can do better. I will admit I am having a hard time with 2-4. Its very technical.

The graphics are definetely sharper. Or more contrastant. I popped GT5 and the shadows look better on GT Academy Rome.
And I don't know if this was just my perception screwing up (or the Silvia) but the feedback on my G27 seemed better when I rode curbs.

All my records are ranging from 54000 to 4000 on the rankings after first runs haha, shall try to improve them later. Sadly I'm the only one on my friends list playing. :(

I will send out some invites to people I don't have on my list already. My academy friends leaderboard is 20 strong but could use some new flags. Just did 2-1 and currently 155th so if the 8th round consists of nothing but boring slooooow right hand turns, I might have a shot ;)

I would put your money on a full lap of a track with a Nissan race car. Probably on street tires.

Oh I like this. Looks like I am going to have to edit that post tomorrow. When I get my CSW in mid May it is officially on. Round 1 is meaningless and pointless to me but if we are going to carry this through the end, I may just have to improve my times a little bit.

Bloody hell, 5th place overall! Never in a million years did I think I'd get that high!

Last night I concentrated on round 2, when I booted the game I only had Aeroslash as a friend and I was first on everything but 1-5 and 2-5. After some time on 2-5 I finally managed to get under 40 seconds and was well chuffed. Wake up this morning to find my friend count has increased to eight and my sub 40 second time is not looking so hot any more :D

It would be cool to know the minimum required time to get to be in the top ten.
I didn't play the challanges again after getting the gold (mostly on my first try) but this could give me the motivation to improve.
