Soul Sacrifice (Vita x Inafune) - Conference impressions and videos added to OP

Must've been a really easy pitch for Inafune. He sees what's popular in Japan and in the West (MH, DeS/DaS), sees that the Vita is lacking that type of game and then pitches this to Sony. Clever guy.

Aren't the only posts related to WiiU or 3DS port talk from people complaining about such port-begging? I'm reading the thread and I'm seeing zero posts of people asking for a WiiU or 3DS port. That, or a mod deleted all of them already.

Whatever, don't want to derail this thread any further.

This looks pretty ridiculous.

I still do laugh at the kids that thought this game will save vita xD

But then people apparently love god of war games which are reaching a similar level of ewww.

Really curious how this will be marketed, especially in the states.

inafune is already planning Dark Sacrifice game for 3DS if this game actually succeed. lol
It seems more likely that Marvelous AQL is re-using a 3DS engine. I think their tits ninja game is more likely to get a NA release than a 3DS version of this game (if there is even a 3DS spiritual sequel), though.

Gore/violence sells in the west. People will flock to this like a Bee to honey, imo.

Pretty much. There's some actual port begging in this thread, but it's for PS3.

Senran Kagura? Tamsoft developed that and it's most certainly a MUCH different engine.

The only 3DS games Marvelous AQL developed inhouse are Cubic Ninja, Harvest Moon and King of Pirates. And all are likely different teams from the ones doing Soul Sacrifice.

Need to see more real time footage... but this could be awesome. This also reinforces the idea that Sony really isn't targeting a mass market of electronics consumers, but targeting core gamers. They might be wise to the fact that you can't compete with smartphones (and Nintendo, tehe) for casual users anymore and just putting all their chips on core gamers.

A strategy like this might lead to a smaller number of units sold but if they can keep development costs of their games in line there is no reason to think Sony can't make this profitable, just like the Vita hardware itself currently.

What the hell... that art style is disgusting, vile, and putrid. What sick and twisted minds could even come up with things like this? Hopefully it is appreciated and the Vita base eats it up, because they have been asking for something decent.

Who thought this will save the Vita? Those who thought so was foolish. No one game can save a platform. What this game does show is that Sony isn't resting on their laurels and are actually funding new, unique IPs on the Vita, which is exactly was people said Sony needs to do.

God Eater x Berserk confirmed ;)

Hype level going through the roof Ragnarock will be a good warm up for this :D

people said Vita have no games, but my must buy list keep growing and growing...

Gravity Rush, Ragnarok, Persona 4 G, and now potentially this. not counting game that I still debate whether I want to buy again or not like MGS collection and various psn games.

I'm curious why the hell you care. In every new Vita game topic you say something like this.

they know $250 is a hard sell for kids, so until they can reduce the price to be more mass market friendly, they'll be targeting the niche and the hardcore group. each title may only sell to specific audience, but if they have enough titles, hopefully it add up.

Oh and someone said there was no blood in the screens
q2k6y.jpg

that blood is mild and nothing like the art suggested, I'll wait until we see gameplay screen of player taking out sword from his mouth or when player explode and razor wire lashing out of his body before I said the game is gory.

seriously that amount of blood is on par of your typical m rated game, even Devil May Cry have more blood that that I think.

So this was Mitsuda's secret project

According to his twitter profile, he is working as a game producer at an unnamed game company. It'll be interesting to see what he's up.

Great find(s) duckroll, as always! I surely didn't know he wrote NNII's script. I've been following SH's staff closely, but I didn't play the game after reading so many bad impressions.

Was there any SH staff on Mindjack? I've read horrible stuff about that game, yet it was developped by Feelplus.

I know some old SH staff and some MAQL staff helped on FFXIII-2, too.

But with all this talk about Feelplus, why hasn't Cavia been mentionned?
Everything from the gruesome artwork, overall creepy thematics, talking demon-turned-into-book screams Nier/Drakengard to me...

Anyway, with some potential Shadow Hearts/Feelplus/Cavia/etc. staff involved, + Mitsuda, + fantastic art so far, I'm really hyped!

This. And it's one of a dozen more where there's barely any gore at all.

To make a long story short, the principle creative leads from Cavia are not with Marvelous AQL.

There really isn't much to it; once the merger was completed, Yoko Taro left the company and was last seen helping out Squenix on one of their mobile games (its name escapes me right now).

I was aware of Yoko Taro leaving, and I know he's had a considerable influence on NIER's creative development. But surely a bunch of Cavia's creative staff remained in place?

Sorry guys, I took Fafalada's point-sampling comment seriously, didn't know it was a troll. I'm not certain if everyone knows, but he's actually (or was, at one point) a game developer, so I thought he was making a poignant observation, not a subtle troll.

Forgiveness, please.
