Playing this for the first time, it's real fun. Definitely see how you can get lost in it. Currently trying to build a suspended glass house between two mountains. Good stuff.

You know I still think the PC version is better content wise but it really needs to introduce the crafting from the console version. It's os much more convenient. That's mainly why I like the Xbox release.

Why?? Ived tried both and the xbla version of crafting is still slower and pretty clumsy. I can still craft stuff faster with mouse and keyboard shortcuts....

I found a monster generator. What should I do with it?
Place torches by it to stop it from generating monsters, raid the chests, then look up how to set up mob farmers with the spawner you got. Once that's set up, remove the torches so the mobs can spawn again, and start using your farmer.

My new laptop is fast but has very limited graphics capabilities. I bought Minecraft back when it was $10 on PC and now how come to realize that it's a fully featured game with an insane number of things to do. I can't play it on my current new laptop.. so I'm tempted to pick up this 360 version. But I'm feeling as though I should wait until they patch in more content because it's a pretty high asking price.

Made a bunkbed for my roommate and a chicken walked inside the house.

Do I need to feed this chicken or will it survive on its own inside? I made him a room and locked him in hhaha

Agreed. It's so smooth, what a great game to play with your significant other too!

I bought three pc versions, so I could play with my three kids. But I no longer have enough computers in the house to play it so I'm considering this version. Can you play three player local coop?

But I recommend you have a big television when playing four player co-up local :p

Back to mining for now. Still ain't got no iron.

Current project. I drew inspiration from Dome City from one of the Neogaf servers on the PC version. :) Coming along nicely, I suppose. Although I think the two smaller domes aren't the right dome shape like they should be. Oh well.

I know! When I played for like six months on the Mac, I created a massive complex using careful planning. However, now that I'm staring from scratch again I'm having a hard time deciding where to build this time. LOL.

Maybe the very center of the map makes the most sense? I might have to go locate that. Hmm.

Is it possible to make those mob trap factories work in the Xbox version? How do you get the mobs to spawn?

Mob traps should work. Key things to know for simple mob traps are:

1. water flows 8 blocks
2. mobs can be killed by drowing in water, lava or dropping from a height
3. mobs spawn as long as there is a 2 block high gap
4. signs and ladders can be used to stop water and lava from flowing
5. greater surface area means better spawn rates

Just search "simple mob trap" on youtube for hundreds of examples

Oh, I see. You aren't actually using those mob spawner things, just creating the conditions necessary for mobs to naturally spawn. That makes sense.

I'm happy, finally dug deep enough to find iron, diamant, gold, red stone and all other stuff one could possibly ask for in this game. Only thing is, I need loads more of iron to make a nice armour, some pickaxes and more such stuff.

And a screenshot of my current house nearby the mine.

*edit* I also read somewhere that the porting people used something other than Java for the 360 version, which again makes me wonder if there could ever be an XNA PC version released or something. Potentially increased performance for everyone!

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-vs-minecraft-xbox-360-edition

As it stands right now, the 360 code weighs in with a 156MB download, and much like the Pocket Edition available for Android, the Java code of the PC version has been eschewed in favour of C++.

The 360 version runs so damn smooth.

400/400 (thanks to Yeti)!

How do you guys feel about playing on peaceful versus any thing else? The monsters are kind of fun to fight but also kind of a pain in the ass, I'm conflicted.

Some of you guys are amazing and are really inspiring me. I think I will abandon my cobblestone fort for now and try my hands at building a great pyramid. Thanks to ckohler for that idea. Absolutely unbelievable world you crafted.

I changed my settings to peaceful also. Just learning how to mine and where to find stuff was tough enough for me. I'll let the monsters back in at the time I'm more experienced. When a starting a new world from scratch for example.

Peaceful. Combat is the worst. Arrows that cause knock back? Dumb. Creepers? Dumb.

I will turn it on if I need the materials they drop, but that's it.

I like the tension of having the monsters around. I feel like I'm achieving something more when I've built it in a dangerous environment (even though it's safe during the day 95% of the time), and I like worrying when I see a creeper next to one of my structures. It makes me value them more.

How you guys taking screenshots? Cant find it in the options?

I found an awesome awesome tunnel INSIDE my tunnel, I followed monster noises and it opened up to a large branching tunnel system. My final pull was probably like 100+ iron, 300+ coal, 4 gold, 4 diamonds.

Nice catch Coldsnap!

I hope they will make a FIFA like service where you can upload screenshots to your EA profile . For now I'm using a fake Facebook account to not annoy my friends with random screenshots :p
