Has anyone bought Dragon's Lair yet?

I'm thinking about it, and downloaded the trial, but I'm still unsure if it's just the nostalgia I want it for.

505 GAMES AND BEHAVIOUR INTERACTIVE GO BACK TO THE WOODS TODAY WITH FOLLOW UP TO NAUGHTY BEAR
Prepare to be very naughty on Xbox 360TM and PlayStation®3 in 2012
Milton Keynes, UK – Global videogame publisher 505 Games and developer Behaviour Interactive today announced Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®Network. Players will take on the role of Naughty Bear who is once again shunned and outcast by the inhabitants of Perfection Island. They've departed for the luxury holiday destination of Paradise Island but haven’t invited poor Naughty Bear along. Armed with a hit-list of bears that have wronged him, Naughty is going to make them pay, one by one.

“Following the success of our first outing with Naughty Bear, we really wanted to push the limits and give players a lot more freedom to be as naughty as they can and help Naughty Bear get revenge on the other bears who have been so mean to him” said Victoria Reeve, Senior Global Brand Manager, 505 Games. “With the first Naughty Bear game audiences responded well to the juxtaposition of cuddly innocence, with dark humour and over the top violence. We’re really looking forward to seeing what they make of all the great new features we’ve packed into Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise.”

Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise takes everything you loved about the first game and brings a whole new level of naughtiness Thanks to a completely over-hauled combat system, brand new levelling up system, equipment customisation with thousands of combinations and over 30 mission set across 11 distinct areas of Paradise Island there really is a whole new world for players to explore and unleash their inner-naughty in as many ways as they can imagine.

“Naughty Bear really struck a chord with gamers looking for something more than the same old gameplay,” said David Osborne, Executive Creative Director at Behaviour Interactive, “With Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise, we’re turning the naughty dial all the way up to 11!”

Check out the trailer, here.

The bears are back in town in Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise for Xbox Live and PlayStation®Network in 2012. For the teaser trailer, please visit the official Web site at: http://www.naughtybearthegame.com/

I keep wondering where they get the "Summer game" info from. They did one of these vids on May 15th, as well (for Wreckateer, Deadlight, and Hybrid), this one is from the 16th.

Happy Wars would be a perfect summer game, too!

WIN! Haha, that looks better than I expected (YAY for no flash-lookin puppet-animation vector drawings, but glorious, real pixelart!) Even has Guardian Heroes-style lane shifting, and a battle mode, eh? Will definitely be looking forward to it!

Mini Ninjas Adventures Announced For Kinect, To Be Released This Month on XBLA

More info: http://www.360sync.com/2012/06/01/mini-ninjas-adventures-announced-for-kinect-to-be-released-this-month-on-xbla

Glad to see Mini Nin getting some more life. Looks perfect for an arcade game with Kinect, would be nice to see them do a non-Kinect arcade game as well, though. Seems like the perfect series to be a hit in the downloadable space, really... bitesized adventures with such charming art and personality would be great.

Yes, Spelunky. I really hope CD has a non-Kinect option, too. I'd love to play that.

Also, that Phantom Breaker game reminds me of the Scott Pilgrim game. I'll check that out too.

Has anyone bought Dragon's Lair yet?

I'm thinking about it, and downloaded the trial, but I'm still unsure if it's just the nostalgia I want it for.

Honestly, if you want Dragon's Lair and have a Wii, get the Wii version as it is the most accurate representation of the arcade original on the current gen consoles. Both the PS3 and 360 versions crop the video for display.

Downside on the Wii is that you have to buy all three games at once since it's on a disc.

Otherwise, if you want it in HD the PS3 version is probably preferred over the 360 version due to a sharper (but grainier) picture and no UI weirdness.

Here are the PS3 and 360 versions of DL reviewed by someone who's a fan of the series.

PS3: http://worthplaying.com/article/2011/7/20/reviews/82412/
360: http://worthplaying.com/article/2012/5/28/reviews/86208/

All four of those feel like amateur hour compared to those ancient games, though. With $20, you can own SVC: Streets of Rage trilogy and Final Fight Double Impact and own the very best beat 'em ups on any console anywhere.

Neither are Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim.

Thank God I wasn't eating when I read this or else I'd choke on my food in laughter

Shank and Moon Diver are not 10 years old!

Haven't played Shank but Moon Diver is a joke.

Moon Diver most certainly is not a joke, and I'm going to have to assume that neither of you played more than the demo or a level or two in the full game until I see some gamertags with some achievements on there! The game is just sublime once you really get into it and are ducking and weaving through laser beams, air dashing and slicing up fools while throwing up spells. Playing on insane obviously helps make it more tense and thus awesome. It really reminds me of a 2D DMC3, which is a beautiful thing. That last level is fucking intense!

It's an unbalanced pile of jokes.

I wouldn't count either of them in THIS kind of "Beat em Up" categoty. That's like saying Strider and Gunstar Heroes are good BEU's.

Wouldn't count Dust: An Elysian Tail as one either, and I think I'll enjoy it much more than either of these two.

Dungeon Fighter Live: Fall of Hendyon Myre is probably the closest thing to a classic beat em up on the horizion, Hopefully it gets properly announced / updated / explained at E3...

Neither are Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim.

Castle Crasher's is the closest one out currently, and I pretty much knew PepVSjoe didn't like Scotty P. from previous discussion (I really enjoy it myself), so didn't even bring up the point, haha.

But we have to remember: The "10 Years Old" games were produced at a time when we were expected to put endless quaters / $50+ onto these games. XBLA games are Ten to Fifteen dollar games, and don't have an arcade tenure to gather return on initial investments. So it's no surprise none of the recent games have equaled their old forefathers.

I really would like to see someone like SNKP or a division of Capcom or Treasure make a 2D Beat em Up / Belt Scroll Brawler / whatever you want to call it, with the same kind of passion they did back in the arcade, 8, 16, and 32 bit eras. I'd also like to see more attempts at the genre on XBL and PC Indies, but that's another discussion entirely...

Spelunky looks soooo delicious. Still my most anticipated DL title this year. Great to see it in motion.
You already get to play Dust, so that does make Spelunky an easy number 1 for you, lol. Are we to hear anything about your good ole game at E3?

I've said this in the Arkham City thread but I'll say it again - a belt scrolling brawler based on that combat engine would be a neat DL spin off.

I liked Castle Crashers. :/

The Streets of Rage vintage collection has better GFX than my regular Streets of Rage 2 on XBLA. Are we getting an update so they'll be identical?

X260 version includes a 4:3 mode with a picture of the cabinet surrounding the actual screen, which, however, gets quite small, not filling the screen vertically.

I was also considering buying it (AGAIN) but it's just nostalgia and the demo is enough for that. Plus there's a very high quality 1080p longplay of the BD version on youtube, so high quality, in fact, that if you watch it on X360's youtube app, it looks even better than the game itself.
And that's probably all you need.

I... don't know what that'd be like. 2.5 D, with semi-auto-seeking starter punches helping you target from one enemey to the next in quick succession... eh... I dunno. I would love to see the high amount of context-sensative gameplay applied to a classic beat em up, but I just don't personally care for Batman's movement as much. It's nice for 3D, but it'd be little more than a fancy rhythm game as a side-scrolling, co-op game.

If they took away the heat-seeking, or made it so it was a special ability (Like a special jumping attack), rather than the main movement focus of enemey combat, then that'd be pretty cool, though.

Would be a solid startpoint though, and it'd be fun to see how such an idea would work out.

Final Fight is too primitive (and I could 1CC it back in the day) as is SoR 1. SoR2 is better but every time I've gone back to it it's just too slow for me. I'll stick with my two choices.

Yeah, not an exact duplicate but as a starting point. Could be cool.

give me SPELUNKY!

ill take Hell yeah too, and that Phantom Breaker game looks neat too.

i did. definitely for nostalgia mostly. i wouldn't suggest buying it at full price honestly (even though i did).

its fun, but short lived, and obviously the gameplay is pretty light.

They all look good, though I expect Crimson Dragon to be ruined by Kinect. Spelunky looks like it'll be one of the best games this year. They're gonna have to work to screw that one up.

If it plays like Child of Eden, i expect to actually be a lot of enchanced with Kinect than anything else

But i agree it can go either way, since they are a different developer

Playing Streets of Rage is such a letdown after dat SoR remake. Damn it was fucking amazing and needs to be released on xbla. I would buy it for $50 with online play. So much replay value, I must have beaten the game 3x. The old SoR games don't compare.

I agree....I just played SoR3 for the first time yesterday....not that great.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is a downloadable title for Xbox LIVE Arcade that takes the best elements of the classic THPS games and gives them a fresh update to create an all new skateboarding experience. Tapping into fans’ muscle memories, the gameplay returns to controllers and focuses on the satisfaction of linking sick tricks for maximum points. Combining sharp visuals with the best controls ever in a Tony Hawk game, the feel is cutting edge yet timeless. The game was rebuilt and polished by Robomodo using Neversoft’s original code and includes the best seven levels from THPS and THPS2 (Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Phoenix, Hangar, Marseilles and Venice). There is a combination of new school and old school pros (Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, Riley Hawk and Tony Hawk himself) and the soundtrack is half classic THPS tracks and fresh ones. Multiple online multiplayer modes round out the action!
