June Wrasslin |OT| When you lose, you're a jobber, when you win, you're Cena.

it does feel that way, but even so, Cena has been in the main event of 5 out of 6 PPVs this year. Despite not being in a single title feud of any kind.

They are devaluing the belt by continuing to put Cena in the spotlight, and I swear that "The Champ is Hear" audio clip at the beginning of every damn event throws it right in your face that despite whoever is holding and challenging for the belt, the show revolves around Cena.

I have never felt that the show was centered around one person like it does with Cena.

That's how i feel too. I don't understand why he's not even fighting for a belt. It really seems like they consider fighting him as a reward in itself.

To wash down that miserable Raw

Fave 5
1. Kazuchika Okada
2. Dolph Ziggler
3. Bully Ray
4. Tetsuya Naito
5. Daniel Bryan

Cody falls off until he gets in a storyline that goes somewhere.

Why are you holding Cody to that standard while giving Ziggles and D.Brine a free pass?
Because they had pointless title matches on a PPV Sunday they had no prayer of winning?
Guess what? So did Cody.
All of those titles are as meaningless as the Divas, tag and US titles.
TNA's X Division title has more relevance than any of them.

How does storyline equate to matches on a ppv?

Ziggles hasn't exactly had much of a storyline there, either. Outside of his 10-month sibling rivalry with Swagger and his 2-year on-again/off-again romantic entanglements with Vickie Guerrero.
His storyline is that he loses to everyone (making them look awesome in the process) and wrestles Kofi Kingston once every 3 weeks.

As for D.Brine, while he HAS enjoyed a storyline it's not exactly one that seems to be "going somewhere".

Oh, don't get me wrong. I know Ziggler hasn't had much of a storyline, but he's a fantastic worker, and that's why he's up there. While I enjoy Cody as a wrestler, I enjoy him as a character far more, so it's hard to be interested in a character who had one of the most solid midcard title reigns in years and then can't beat a guy who was being jobbed out constantly before he got injured.

Hell, might as well do my Fave Five;

1. Kazuchika Okada
2. Austin Aries
3. Daisuke Sekimoto
4. PAC
5. El Generico

All 5 have been putting on one awesome match after another, which is why I find it hard to include WWE guys - D.Brine might be one of my favourite wrestlers, but it's hard to say he's deserving of a fave five spot when his chances to show why are so few and far between in comparison to guys outside of WWE's Universe. Also, the lack of storyline direction hurts in WWE far more than it does in promotions like New Japan, where the story is told 95% in the ring.

well Punk can now stop bitching about being on Fallon.

God he's terrible, and nobody cares/knows who he is.

Should've put Bryan on, at least maybe some people would've been all "YES YES YES"

The only big pop Punk got on the show was when he told Jimmy to join him and do snow angels on the hardwood floor, but get some cheap heel heat by dissing Tebow

Which reminds me that I probably should have put Nakamura on my list. But then my list would just be 1-5 Shinsuke Nakamura. Or else.

Bootaaay, how do you feel about Cena Tanahashi beating Okada for the belt, and being champion again?

I'm hoping it's only a transitional reign, as, like it or not, Tanahashi is a big draw and I can see the sense of having him be champion for the big inter-promotional AJPW/NJPW show next month. Also, everyone's kind of forgotten about Naito, and while I imagined Naito would be the one to eventually defeat Rainmaker, it would probably be better for him in the long run if Tanahashi puts him over.

So yeah, short reign for Tanahashi, Naito beats him for the belt, feuds with Okada/Nakamura - perhaps those two could feud for leadership of CHAOS in the meantime, as Shinsuke vs the Rainmaker is a match I'd love to see.

Nakamura hasn't had much chance to shine this past few months, what with Okada's unexpected rise, but I'm hoping he wins the G-1 again this year.

I want to see a Naito/Nakamura feud, and I want to see Taichi feud with LowKi, but I don't see the latter happening.

Speaking of the big AJPW/NJPW show, I just noticed the full card has been announced;

NJPW/AJPW "NJPW & AJPW 40TH ANNIVERSARY ~ SUMMER NIGHT FEVER IN RYOGOKU ~ WE ARE PRO-WRESTLING LOVE!", 01.07.2012
Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan

1. KENSO, Captain New Japan & Masanobu Fuchi vs. Jado, Gedo & YOSHI-HASHI
2. Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask, Lion Dragon, BUSHI & SUSHI vs. Prince Devitt, Ryusuke Taguchi, KAI, Hiroshi Yamato & Hiromu Takahashi
3. Takao Omori, Manabu Soya, Hirooki Goto & Karl Anderson vs. Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, TAKA Michinoku & Taichi
4. Yuji Nagata, Wataru Inoue & KUSHIDA vs. Masakatsu Funaki, Masayuki Kono & Minoru Tanaka
5. All Asia Tag Team Title: Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi (c) vs. Akebono & Ryota Hama
6. Tetsuya Naito & Tama Tonga vs. Seiya Sanada & Joe Doering
7. Suwama & Shuji Kondo vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Kazuchika Okada
8. AJPW & NJPW 40th Anniversary Triple Main Event I: Keiji Muto, Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Toru Yano, Takashi Iizuka & Tomohiro Ishii
9. AJPW & NJPW 40th Anniversary Triple Main Event I ~ Triple Crown: Jun Akiyama (c) vs. Taiyo Kea
10. AJPW & NJPW 40th Anniversary Triple Main Event I ~ IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs. Togi Makabe

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, lots of awesome matches there - continuation of the Nagata/Kono hate, Mutoh teaming with TenKoji, grumpy old Akiyama defending against Champion Carnival 2012 winner Taiyo Kea, etc - also, while I'm not expecting a classic from the All Asia tag match, I hope we get to see Daisuke Sekimoto and his freakish strength dead-lift either Hama or Akebono.

Awesome, I only saw highlights of Day 11 as the full event wasn't televised, hopefully they put up Devitt vs Liger.

Yeah, I don't see a Taichi/Ki feud happening either, but perhaps he could get a shot at the title if Ki successfully defends against Ibushi. I think Taichi is seriously underrated and is fast becoming one of New Japan's best heels - that's why I hope this story with him and TAKA going after Liger & Tiger Mask leads somewhere. TAKA & Taichi as Jr. Heavyweight Tag Champs would be great to see, and any excuse for pissed off Kishin Liger to reappear is good in my book.

Yeah that's probably the wrong crowd for him to be in front of, it only worked for the Miz because he was on the Real World and Real World/Road Rules Challenge and let's face it some those idiots that watched MTV are going to be in those crowds for those late night shows

You've gone too far now Demeanor.

Prepare to be put to shame, by the King of Games.
I will not be shamed by the King of Board Games.

Brodus Clay and I will move onto the greener pastures of stardom and riches. Title opportunities at every corner. WWE and World Heavyweight Championship reigns that last for centuries.

You mean these knees?

My favorite moveset for the last few years. Aside from the Boma Ye, the best one not pictured is the running corner knee where he often has some kind of stroke right before running across the ring. I think he just sheds some excess swag when shaking. Only so much cool one guy can carry.

He spazzes out a lot better than Orton, I'll say that.

I'm always worried that he's going to legit kill Naito. He stiffs the shit out of him.

Though I think my dream title match would be a huge slow burn of Nakamura as champion and Goto finally, FINALLY doing it.

Nakamura's fucked up mannerisms are just too awesome, and his ring jacket is pure swag. If it wasn't for the Rainmaker and dat entrance, it'd all be about Shinsuke.

Dragonzord said:

Speaking of Orton, I like that 'Machine Gun' Karl Anderson lifted the RKO/Ace Crusher, punt to the head and viper pose from Randy, and generally does it better than him anyway. Anderson's "out of nowhere" RKOs are actually unexpected, surprising and "out of nowhere".

Goto's seemingly been on the cusp of stardom for so long now, it's difficult to believe it will ever happen - he needs a really hot feud for the Intercontinental Title, as they've kinda forgotten about it. Goto's only defended it twice in nearly 100 days.

WWE needs to hire NJPW's photographers.

Agree. Holy crap, those shots are amazing! The timing, the angles and the composition are all perfect. Really puts WWE's guys to shame.

Honestly, speaking as a photographer that has covered WWE, TNA, and ROH shows, there's really no reason why WWE shouldn't be getting those kind of shots every night. It's by far the easiest of the three companies to photograph because it's a much slower pace than TNA & ROH and most of the key stuff faces the hard cam. Not to mention the fact that you can usually see the stuff coming so you have time to prepare for the shot (guys setting up their finishers, posing in the same spots all the time, etc.).

I really enjoyed the main event of Primo/Epico and the Prime Time Players to close Raw, I have decent hope for the tag division going towards MitB, I just hope it last longer than a few weeks since I miss a real tag division.

Ziggler and Swagger was interesting, wonder what's going to happen with Swagger now, if he gets a face turn, I hope it is with a character shake up.

Also good to see Del Rio is well once again, will they go with Sheamus/Del Rio for MitB or since Jericho is back next week, will it be Sheamus/Jericho?

I want to see HHH and Lesnar, how is that wrong?

This is the best #June ever.

Aiii

So not worth it
20 minutes of AJ/Punk/Bryan/Kane and that big Ginger guy nobody likes (even though we got this match on Smackdown on Friday and without big Ginger guy yesterday) and then 1 hour of fastforwarding.

Only Heyman/Trips promo is worth watching other then that.

Also, fuck John Cena and fuck his godawful STF.

Out of all of AJ's outfits over the past month or so, this was the worst, plus she was gone in under in a minute. :(

I hope they use the extra hour of Raw for AJ promo's. Also, have the girl wrestle some damn matches already, she's a wrestler too.

Whenever I look at Goto I am reminded by the phrase "Not everyone who deserves to be the champion gets to be the champion." He is never going to get a meaningful IWGP Title reign. They'll probably give him a brief title win as thanks for sticking with them for so long like they did with Manabu Nakanishi but that's it.

So Punk, Bryan, AJ and Kane is the longest storyline in modern WWE history right.

dTVKL.gif

It all goes back to November last year, 7 months so far since the whole storyline started by having Bryan and AJ get together.

I know the situation of the WWE is shit right now, but props are due to all the involved in the making of such an standing storyline that has gone for so long.

Punk and Kane are additions to keep the story going, just as Big Show was at the beginning and you could even say Sheamus in a minor role. Other notable appearance is Kaitlyn, wonder if she will be used again to spice things up when things start to settle (from the current Kane stuff).
