Battlefield 4 Beta access if you preorder MOH: Warfighter

Yes, I know it's not a direct comparison but it also has a netcode that is required to keep track of hundreds of tanks, vehicles, planes, helicopters and whatnot and still maintain correct information about every bullet and missile, which it does to a 10/10. Yes I will concede that's a bit easier but the ArmA 2 comparison is spot-on. Don't start making excuses about stationary targets and whatnot, ArmA 2's hit detection is based on the old fashion system where it scales linear with the player count and actually benefits from low-ping. Yes it can suffer like any game in the world with shitty pings, bad connections and firewall issues but under ideal circumstances it just works, perfectly. Unlike Battlefield 3.

You also said you hate ArmA 2 and find it boring, thus I doubt you have very much experience on how it actually works, how good it works in action.

Sethos, I'm glad you are here to say these things.

I support your posts.

I am glad, however, that they seemingly dropped the Bad Company series. I enjoy mainline Battlefield much more.

Looks like most people here that has issues with BF3 are playing the console version. Not surprised as the PC version is still going strong with issues getting fixed pretty quickly. And the BF3 community on the PC is still huge.

BF3 console version is kinda a message to all players out there to get a PC version instead lol.

I have tons of fun with the 360 version of BF3, still play it regularly. If this means that BF4 is holiday 2013/early 2014, hopefully there is Xbox Infinity version that has 64 players (I assume MS will lift those network restrictions that force Xbox games to small player counts with the next console) and looks more like the PC version visually.

They were pretty clear that they would release all the DLCs and the next Battlefield game shortly after (whether that was BF4, Bad Company 3 or an expansion doesn't really matter)

I have put more hours into Battlefield 3 than any game this gen. It is just a fantastic game to play online. So much strategy, different roles, great graphics, etc. I want this game to last and I want the next to be awesome.

ArmA 1 / 2, DCS World does it better.

It's still shoddy with 64 players, you just notice it less because you die every other second from all the random shit dinging around. When you are actually in close quarters scenarios or basic infantry scenarios which is a huge part of Battlefield, it sucks ass. An entire expansion right now is iffy because of it, an entire aspect is broken because of it. But hey, because a few tanks can drive around and the occasional helo it's suddenly fantastic? I've played ArmA 2 with over 80+ players on a dedicated Swedish server and everything was spot on, that even had more units and action than any BF game. Can't even play on a Danish BF3 server with a ping of 9(!!) without getting all the usual hit detection issues. Any Battlefield 3 player that isn't in denial will attest to the horrible hit detection - You don't have to bend over and like everything to play a game you know.
It's the people with high pings that are hosing you. In all likelihood, you're experiencing the side effects of client side hit detection with lag compensation. Getting killed after you're behind cover, putting a clip in someone and having them one shot you, etc. That's the server resolving conflicts in what two different clients saw in a way that's not in your favor.

When those shenanigans aren't going on you generally hit what you aim at. In fast paced, close quarters infantry combat, those shenanigans are always going on.

I'm preeeeety sure BF went "modern" way before COD.

Also lol at people suggesting going back to WW2... Ehat about a setting that hasn't been done to death instead?

Yep. People don't know it, but Battlefield went the MW route before Modern Warfare actually did. It's just that CoD 4 made the bigger splash.

Funny that people are clamoring for a WW2 setting now. And if DICE does do it, people will bitch about it. No chance it will be in that setting though, it's not as attractive for the game's core target audience.

It think it's more likely that the Bad Company series is "outsourced". Battlefield is a core part of DICE.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Bad Company 2 was built by another team within DICE. BF3, however, was built with Lars Gustavsson (BF2) as its lead.

Ideally, people should get the PC version. But for those who don't have the moolah to shell for a rig that will play this properly, it's either consoles or not at all.

The BF3 community on both PS3 and Xbox 360 is very, very big. I daresay it's bigger than the PC playerbase by a wide margin. Wasn't there a breakdown before how that 15 mil units between platforms?

Also, can anyone explain how not buying BF3 Premium a good thing due to them releasing BF4? How is getting a wholesale price for all DLCs for a game relate to its next iteration?

If you're playing BF3 a ton, then Premium makes sense. If not, then buy it piecemeal...don't know how that relates to BF4. Unless it means "I don't want to buy Premium because I don't want to support DICE."

But... EA makes more profit off of Digital games sold on their own service. And supply side economics told me that when a company is more profitable it's products will become cheaper. What is this trickery?

This time I hope it has a decent enough campai... oh what am I saying no it won't. Only reason to get this would be for multiplayer. I'd rather have another Bad Company anyway.

I'm clamoring for a futuristic setting and I can't be alone in that. I've had it with WW2 and modern day crap.

As someone who just bought premium it makes me feel as though as when Endgame is released in March 2013 the game will be dead a month later

I'm fine with a modern setting, but they need to spice it up a bit. Yeah, future warfare would be fine.

Regarding Endgame, when it's released in March, the game will have a few months' worth of high play-time. That is if the game continues EA's late (Oct-Nov) FPS release date.

This is with the assumption that BF4 is set for release next year and that people flat out abandon Endgame completely. Doubt it will happen though. BC2 still has a good playerbase.

I'd rather have another Bad Company game myself, but realistically there's no chance. EA managed to grab a big chunk of the shooter market with BF3, then got them to pay again for DLC and they did it with one game across three platforms. Expect more of the same.

Why are people still talking about this if it has already been debunked as fake by DICE?

When and where was it debunked? DICE's Battlefield twitter didn't acknowledge it, but didn't debunk it either.

Also, it being plastered on Origin's store means someone went into the trouble of making this. Which gives credence that this is indeed true.

Here's the thing though. Most players outside the industry sort of assume that big publishers and devs are well-oiled machines. They're not though; they have a ton of moving parts, and some of the most vital parts don't even communicate with each other regularly. It seems very strange to me that they'd announce BF4 through a banner ad, then have their PR accounts respond directly to it. I'm guessing it's another miscommunication.

BF3 is the best mp shooter of the last 7 years.

Also, LOL ARMA.

And kindergarten has arrived ladies and gentlemen.

There's a difference between hating and being critical towards something, you might learn that one day.

And be prepared as I'll keep saying it as long as it's valid.

Obvious baiting is obvious.

Those aren't even outright denials. More like PR speak for "until we announce it, it's not official."

How come EA is taking its sweet time to respond to news sites, then?

My guess? Might be premature, but BF twitter is run by a lot of people and they're not allowed to divulge a thing without passing marketing. So expect denials until they're confirmed.

This is bad....real bad...

Was hoping for the $60 price point for at least a couple more years.

If this happens to be true, and MOH sells at all well. Many developers will follow suit.

Can anyone tell me a redeeming feature in this new MOH game that gives me an incentive to buy it? I wouldn't buy it even if it was $20.

I haven't bought premium nor do I plan on it but I'd be upset if having it didn't net you beta access over a pre-order

sounds legit, they obviously give reasons as to what that was and explain what happened

doesnt sound like they're saving their ass with the premium purchases at all

not saying that the beta will come with MOH, but I bet its a lot closer than "in our minds"

BF3 has it's issues. However, ARMA 2 is a joke in many ways as well. It probably has the worst interface I've ever seen in a game. For a PC exclusive, it's graphics are pretty mediocre. The animations and general feel of gunplay is terrible. Arma 3 will hopefully bring some polish.

I don't think even the most diehard Arma fan would tell you that Arma 2 is without issue.

Don't you even dare comparing ARMA and BF3.

Yes, they are both games using military hardware. That's pretty much the only comparison possible.
