You can do so much with a two million budget. If you think what they have accomplished so far and what's on the to-do list, it's really hard to believe. These people are wizards.

Too bad their business thinking is not as exciting (and here you can include the majority of the WMD community).

Andy Garton already knows about it and we seem to have an understanding – if I screw up again, I'll be fully IP-banned.

Pft, the 'I play at my friend's house' was a classic.

I think I might've come just now...ooooh yes!

I think for 10 cars that list couldn't be much better, in fact I can't think of any car I'd replace just now.

E: Okay, the new Zagato might've been cool, but I don't think I would have replace anything with it.

C'mon SMS, how about some classic Australian touring cars (XU1/A9X Torana,Brock Commodores) to go along with Mount Panorama?

Damn hype train for pCars hit me once again and made me realize I'll probably be in Army when the game gets released(unless it gets slightly delayed), but on the upside I'll probably move after that which means I might get a new wheel then, hopefully Logitech might have a new G-series wheel out by then.

It seems very unlikely that it will. And what kinds of cars would you be interested in? I think pCARS currently has the best lineup I've ever seen.

To you maybe, to me the list is extremely lacking, i dont see how this list is even close to Forza (absolut best and getting better) or even GT5 carlist. Thats why i want mods or a very good carlist.
Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mclaren are my favorite cars (and Porsche, Jaguar, Ascari, Bugatti, etc) i also love classic racing cars, i dont have much love for F1 cars except old one like the Tyrrel P34 (this game has a few interesting cars). In terms of racing series BPR 96 is my favorite by far.
At this point the only car i REALLY want from the list is the M1 PROCAR, the rest is in Forza.

Too bad about the cars right now, i game were i cant drive my favorites means little to me.

I feel lucky to know very little about famous racecars. I'm just like oh yeah, there are these 30-40 cars to choose from, I like the one with the little antenna here, and I don't like the one with the cramped cockpit, and this one looks pretty sweet. :p

What did you do to get banned???

Also is a modded Shift 2 or 1 able to hold me over until this game is finished??

...hopefully Logitech might have a new G-series wheel out by then.

As I am informed, Logitech stopped any development of new wheels in 2010 and in 2011 they've completely backed out of the wheel peripherals until further notice.

At this point they're only selling stocks, with majority of European stocks being transfered to US market in mid 2011.

I do not have any official links to back this up, but my source informed me about this in October 2011.

It's a racing game it's not a driving game. Comparing it to Forza or GT is irrelevant... Both those games' goal is to get as many production cars in as possible. That's what people want out of these game, to be able to drive the car they have sitting in their real life driveway. pCARS, iRacing or rFactor are racing gamings in the sense that they are there mostly to simulate and represent the professional racing happening around the world. The fact that pCARS has some "normal" production cars is just a nice little extra but it's not the focus of the game.

Oh...I was aware they were in some trouble, but wow, that's pretty bad :/

Well maybe one of the entry level Fanatecs then, going to be interesting to see if pCars' succes would get me a new wheel :)

You could say that BUT Forza also have lots of race cars. And if we are talking about race cars theres not reason for not having a the Mclaren F1 GTR winner of Lemans, a Ferrari F40 GTE, a Diablo GT-R, a Murcielago SV-R or R-GT, a Ferrar 512M , a 330 P4 and several important racing Porsches.
I could make a big list of my favorite racing cars and see that this game lack most of them

Also i see you guys quite happy about the Huayra which is far from being a race car.

"2012 Z4 GT3

The Z4 GT3 is BMW’s current customer racing model for competition in the FIA GT3 class. Powered by a V8 engine, the car races in one of motorsport’s most prestigeous classes, facing competition from all of BMWs main competitors.

Campaigned by notable teams such as Schubert Motorsport & Vitaphone Racing, the Z4 GT3 is regularly driven by BMW’s squad of works drivers and has clinched several wins and titles, including an overall win at the Dubai 24 Hours race."

Yes Forza have a lot of race cars, but you can't do real race with practice, qualification and race more than 4 laps lol

And yet to me is far more important having the cars i want, with friends we actually manage to do practice, qualifcation and race more that 4 laps online, so problem solved.

Lets leave it, im just disappointed with the lack of mods.

Wrong!
You can do 5 laps.......

Seriously though, expecting a car count similar to Forza or GT is very wishful thinking.
A good amount of variation and quality is more than acceptable for a game like this imo..

Number no, variety and brand representation yes, im not expecting 30 Ferraris, 30 Porsches but 5 of each would be good, the important Lemans cars, some nice looking machines like the F40 or the race version, the classic Porsches, a racing Gallardo or Murcielago, the important and classic all mightly Mclaren F1 GTR shorttail, a Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR, DTM, Sauber C9, etc etc etc.

I agree. Anyway, in the end, whatever the racing/driving game I play the track selection is 10x more important than the car selection. It's important to have a good variety of cars but I don't really care to have 5 different civics or 6-7 Lancers...

The track selection in pCars is already great and considering that Shift 2 has (IMO) the best track selection available of any racing game, I'm happy with where it's going right now.

Here is something wild... why we cant have BOTH? i dont think anyone would be sad if we get an F40 and some of the other cars i mentioned.

Oh yeah of course, don't get me wrong, I'd love to get some supercars. I just think that the direction where pCARS is doing right now (and it's still very early anyway so who knows how it will end up exactly) is just fine.

Of course having both is the perfect world, but if you offer me 500 cars and 10 tracks (like forza), or 120 cars and 45 tracks (like Shift2)... I chose the second choice.

Yes, there iis: budget. I'm not saying we will not see them, but asking a car selection akin to Forza or GT is nuts. Those games have titanic budgets behind them.

I don't really care about the car selection as long as I can race true to life races.

That said, mod support should be a must. Mayebe not at launch, but maybe half a year later.

I wonder if Pirelli knows about this...
From back in I think April:

'Horacio Pagani, founder and chief designer at Pagani Automobili said "With the support of our technical partners Mercedes-AMG, Brembo and Pirelli, our engineers are working closely with the physics engine developers to create the most realistic experience possible.”.'

So, it seems reasonable to me.

Exactly, games like GT5 and Forza have at least 10 times the budget pCars have, I'm pretty sure even both Shifts had a whole lot bigger budget even though SMS' development method is very cost efficient.

At a point where a license for a few cars from a manufacturer like Ferrari could cost more like 10% of the whole budget it probably isn't wise decision to include them.

I'm a supporter of moddability as long as it's viable to implement well without compromising rest of the game. Ian mentioned making clear what that proper modding support would mean for the project and having an poll about it once it's time to make a decision.

If it were a perfect world, I'd probably want the base game to include enough and wide enough variety of cars to make the career work and have huge amounts and varities of cars distributed as DLC with the quality and level of effort as the current cars have and at a reasonable price so everyone can buy what they want and members of WMD and SMS would profit from it in a reasonable level. Off course modding support is never a bad thing, but I'd take reasonably priced content made by the guys at SMS rather than some amateur made rips that I want race because of the cars themselves even though they're not the same level as the rest of the game. So original Shift approach with "hacking" modability made a bit more approachable, but with plenty of well thought out DLC would be my choice.

I think the car list thus far is fine. More tracks are always welcome!

What I really want from all the racing simulations are accurate vehicle and tyre physics; no point in making a simulation racing game if the physics aren't up to scratch. A modest number of cars hopefully works to achieve this - it certainly did for iRacing, Game Stock Car and NetKar Pro and I know Assetto Corsa is being worked on with the same ethos.

Since Project CARS and Test Drive Ferrari Racing Legends come from the same developer.. why they didnt make a deal for both games instead of wasting the license in the Test Drive?
Im sure if they ask people to pay for Ferrari people will pay.

If not then i hope for good mods.

They probably used money from FRL to put towards pCARS? Ferrari probably commissioned them to do a Ferrari-only game?
