Really? I'm taking a break, but I never once experienced ANYTHING even remotely comparable to Brawl

Yeah, I don't know what it is. Maybe one of the people I've been playing against has an awful connection and is messing it up? But like I said, it's been the same people every time. I went from getting around 12 points per match to now getting 0 because it's not doing much of what I want it to.

My brother just played against different people and it was just as bad. Maybe I'm actually going against people from Hong Kong now, hahah.

hmm weird i've notice the Sweet Tooth thing in sandover village stage where it would go opposite directions . I only had one laggy match so far overrall better then brawls netcode as of now.

My early matches were totally fine, absolutely no lag. Now I've been lagging all over the place. Was that match on Hades with two Kratos not laggy for you?

Just watching these beta videos, it seems like such a happy, feel-good game. You can't ask for much more.

Whenever I see Parappa do that quick combo thing that he does, where he knocks the opponent away, I always crack up laughing and I don't even know why!

Yeah, I had listened to that when I saw it earlier in the thread and wasn't really impressed by it.

It reminds me too much of the type of music Sony would use in their montage videos.

This. SO MUCH. I know, I know, my posts recently are bashing the music a lot but man.. the menu music is ok, but I wish it was something more like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K__LpUJF62U

I know, SSB has a different overall feel and theme to what All-Stars is bringing but for a crossover as epic as this, as I mentioned before I want the menus, stages, story and all the music to just be awesome and epic.

Anyway, can't wait to get my code tonight and start playing with you all.

When we gonna get those other character write ups? Like for Kratos :)

Oh yeah! I can do that soon.
For now, quick questions because I'm too lazy to check

Is fast falling is in the game? In Smash, at the peak of your jump if you tapped down, you would fall faster to the ground.

2. How many air dodges can you do while in the air? Is it like in Brawl where you can do as many as you like or like Melee where after 1 you are put into a free fall stage? Also, how much ending lag is there after an air dodge?

Fuckdamn I'm badass

Hah, thanks. :) Just some minor touch ups on some crooked edges and it'll be ready to be posted whenever the beta arrives. The move lists will be there for reference and also the PSN IDs. Trying to think of a good title, unless that won't be necessary.

Kratos – It took me awhile to figure out how to play Kratos. He has an attack for seemingly every distance and angle. When I had trouble controlling him I realized it was because I can’t remember how to play God of War haha. He seems to play and feel just like he does in those games. His square button controls his chain attacks. Fun for keeping enemies tied up. Very frustrating to get caught up in. His air up square spins his chains all around him and is a good meter builder. His forward triangle charges with a shield and spear great for when you want to run up to an enemy. When used in the air this attack is a bunch of quick stabs with the spear, one of my favorite Kratos moves. I feel like if you like GOW you will like playing Kratos. His O moves can be used for stuns, and stage recovery which is nice. Neutral O is a bow and arrow which can be pressed rapidly to gain meter and acts like Fox’s blaster in Smash, or charged and acts more like Falco’s blaster. To which I mean one has slight knockback and the other doesn’t. So Kratos can do some damage from a distance.

Kratos’ supers are hard for me to land, I’ve seen players do much better with him than me. I’m getting used to the timing of his level 1 but I’m probably not the best person to ask about it. His level 3 is sick. You have a good chunk of time and with skill can get more than 3 kills. During his level 3 he has energy blasts and standard sword swipes.
All in all, if you like Kratos…You’re gonna like Kratos!

I agree with this, he is kinda like how dante is in marvel vs capcom 3, he can do it all . How you would find most of his combos are exactly how they are in GOW.

i just played god of war 3 this weekend and none of those attacks/buttoncombos that he mentioned seem comparable. in gow, he attacks using his chains with square and triangle, while grabbing people with circle. the only similarity is that you use the face buttons to attack? i'm not saying that it won't still be awesome, but i'm not sure how it would be like playing the god of war games. i am very curious though. maybe i misinterpreted.

to those who have been playing, do the characters seem to have the physics of their respective games? does kratos seem to jump and move like he does in the gow games?

Man I suck, need to defend myself. Im too hesitant to make moves, because I dont know them lol

Edit: Im really annoyed with shooting with an RPG only to have AP bounce to the enemy. I somehow feel that it should gravitate towards me

Kratos sounds really cool, I'll probably start with him and Parappa when I get my hands on the beta.

Good stuff as usual CC.

I've got a question for the beta people:

Is it hard to keep track of your character among all the others? I noticed that, while spectating, the game is a lot more enjoyable to watch in 1v1 matches because you can follow the characters. Is it less 'busy' when you're actually controlling a character? Watching these FFA matches sometimes just seems like watching a big tangled mess.

It seems like maybe the camera should be closer and more attached to the player's character. This is why I would probably get the Vita version if I had one. Then again, maybe it's different when the game is on a big TV screen. I hope something similar to the Vita's camera handling is available as an option for the PS3 version regardless.

It's usually not too hard to keep track of yourself, especially when all the characters are different. In the beta it's kind of difficult because every player is only choosing from a pool of 6 characters. I've had several matches that were 4 Parappas and then some that were 1 Radec and 3 Sweet Tooth and some that were all different. It's not been very hard to distinguish in my opinion, though.

Im finding it difficult. It's chaotic, and what's really annoying is getting bounced around/knocked back because sometimes u dont know why that happens and lose track of yourself. Im hoping they give better indicators of player placement and super level.

Sometimes it gets chaotic and u get thrown back somehow, but it's better than when I started. Learning some tricks to keep up with the pace. And to think people wanted it to be faster

Well square, square, triangle does Plume of Prometheus for example. Thats his most standard move in the GOW games. not to mention hes standard air moves are the same too(forget the name but when hes swirls his blades around him and descends slowly through the air)

I got used to it. Now I only can't follow my character if I get mixed up with somebody else playing the same character. I will have the Vita and PS3 versions and I can't wait haha

I really feel like they'd be better off with a more dynamic/focused camera than adding indicators. It just seems like the camera should be a bit closer and put more emphasis on the player. There's really no reason to keep everyone on-screen at once no matter what in this game, all you'd need is maybe some indicators for players who are off-screen. I wonder if a more involved camera would introduce framerate issues or something and that's why it is the way it is.

Clock pls

Judging by the videos alone, I'm finding it extremely hard to keep track of one character.

It's easier on TV that's for sure. But man, the game likes to zoom out for those silly guys in the background like Hades and the Patapon haha that doesn't help.

So I guess Im turning off hazards. I hope cameras are adjustable, I do find it very hard.

I also think its because the arenas are too small so everybody always bunches together.

Sometimes Im bouncing/getting knocked all over the place by my enemies because I cant keep track.

Another question:

What effect do hazards have exactly? Do they reduce AP or...do nothing?

They do take away AP. But people are way more concerned with other players. On Sandover you do NOT want to be caught in that golf rain I can tell you that.
With Hades it's important because it stuns you so opponents can land big hits.
So they're kinda important but I'm sure "Hazards Off" will become the standard :/

Well that's pretty cool, I like the way they handled hazards in the absence of them doing damage.

I was worried that they just wouldn't do anything lol.

I think we should all advocate a second look at the camera. I just don't think it makes sense for it to try and keep all players on screen at once. It seems like it would be a lot more enjoyable to have a chase type camera (while only one player is playing locally) and be able to follow what's going on in your vicinity than having that crazy spectator's view. It would at least be nice to be able to set this in the options menu. I know some games have a 'far' or 'near' setting for the camera. All they'd really need to do to accommodate this is add indicators/arrows for characters who are off of your screen.

I like that it follows all of the action, but maybe some happy medium at least? It just seems too disconnected from the player.

Here's a quick look at Parappa

Parappa The Rapper
- You gotta believe!...Sorry. Parappa says a lot of fun lines. My favorite being “P to the A to the R to the A!” When you select him. Parappa’s moves revolve around getting in close and whaling on foes. His punches are allocated to the square button. Many people will use his neutral square fists of fury attack. It gets a lot of hits and is a good move but I don’t think it gets as much meter as people think. With Parappa I try to utilize all the directions of his square attacks to beat up on foes. I especially like his up square uppercut to juggle people. His triangle attacks with his skateboard however are strong and do build meter well though they are harder to land. A common strategy is to use Parappa’s neutral O to grab foes from a distance then wail on them with the attack of your choice. This is very fun to do and you feel strong doing it. Parappa’s down O launches a boombox that spews AP orbs…It isn’t that great. Parappa isn’t getting much out of it/anymore than anybody else haha. But sometimes you can get that little extra bit of AP that you need. Parappa has a side O move that launches him toward foes for a single almost dinky hit. Good for recovery and getting close.
Parappa’s supers are where he shines. I find them to be extremely balanced. His level 1 is a short range kick that can easily get a foe and sometimes more with proper timing. But that is difficult to do. I love Parappa’s skateboard, but people are getting better at dodging it (especially if you’re Sly) and his level 3 is the easy instant kill.
Parappa is definitely one of my favorite fighters so far. He packs a punch and is just such a fun fighter! You gotta believe!

I dont think it be fair for players to be able to attack you off screen, or especially launching supers off screen. That could be disaster.

Kinda, but especially if there are multiple of your character in the match. Which happens alot as there are only 6 :p

Know what'd be nice? If loading screens worked like 3D DOt Game Heroes where you saw throwbacks to retro games (except it'd be other PS3 games in PSA)

I only lose track if there are multiples of the same character. Parappa especially, it's hard to tell them apart when stuff is blowing up everywhere because he's so small.

A zoomed-in camera with indicators would be really confusing, you really need to be able to see everyone's positions at all times. I think an option that highlights you more on your screen would be nice.

yeah the camera thing i was mentioning earlier, really need to give us different types or set it a bit closer. also for the person who asked about air dodge its like brawl that you can do as much times till you fall.

What do you mean attack you off screen? Like with a ranged attack? Wouldn't you see that coming still?

Also, the super still has to come on screen to hit you right? Unless it's one of the supers that kills you automatically, and in that case it doesn't matter.

Plus, it could simply be an option.

For stuff like Cole's super, the camera would need to zoom out for everyone. So in some cases, the camera would need to revert to how it is now. Still, for most of the fight, it could be a lot more involved with the player's character.

It'd require some work, but man it just seems too disconnected right now. I hope it's a lot better when you're playing.

I approve of everything said here. That option is a good idea... HEY SUPERBOT LOOK HERE
