The first two points are your usual nuttery, but that last one actually made me really angry to read.

What a bunch of lying fucking assholes.

God fucking damn it.
The sad thing is I don't even think they're lying. I think they are just so self-deluded to the point of honestly believing the bullshit they spew makes sense.

I've just got to say how obnoxious it is that they responded with the phrase 'Guilty as charged'. Could their little persecution complex be more obvious? So no I won't eat there any more. I don't think it will hurt their business and I don't think they care if I do or not but I just can't give them my money and feel good about it.

I actually laughed out loud when I read "no discrimination exists"

Lets just ignore all the hate crimes and deaths and suicide of homosexuals because of discrimination.

So isn't that something we should be trying to correct? Supporting companies that donate to lobbyists and hate groups that want to limit gay people their equal rights doesn't sit well with me.

Look, they donated over a million dollars to a group that has this on their homepage.

Bigoted nutjobs.

That last one is making my skin peel.

No evidence.

And letting others get married restricts my religious liberty.

- That's the type of thinking that makes places like Afghanistan such a nice place to live.

Yeah, that last one is anger inducing.

Amazing to even read that level of bigotry still, let alone have a group advocating it.

That last part is more ironic than the Alanis song as the text itself is a proof that discrimination happens.

Hey, it's a politically neutered organization. It's not like they distribute flyers throughout the nation, get ideas reprinted in church pamphlets or books, or are discussed on religious television stations viewed by millions of people.

That's from The Family Foundation. There's plenty more on their site that makes my blood boil.

"If we didn't have the support from people like you, imagine what would have happened if that if that regulation against their conscience was allowed to pass?"

Would you like to know what would have really happened? A lot more of those unwanted children would have found themselves in loving homes. It only makes the situation worse when you combine this line of thinking with the pro-life arguments.

"You can't abort that baby!" "You can't let gay people adopt that baby!"

So let me get this straight, Family Foundation: You're against gay people adopting babies and you're against abortion, which means women who don't want or can't support a child have to put it up for adoption.

This is what I call "Faux Christianity" and it's part of the reason I'm ex-Christian. They take the parts of the bible that make them right, ignore everything they don't like, then claim religious persecution the moment anyone questions them or does something they don't like.

Everyone's guilty of this sort of behavior, but there are groups in the Christian community that have it down to muscle memory.

Gonna go to McDonald's this weekend to see if I can do some mods to their Southern Chicken sandwich to make it a good Chick Fil-A replacement. Honestly I think all it might need is some mayo...

Hey Fans. Another rumor related to Chick-fil-A that is currently in the media is related to the Jim Henson Kid's Meal prizes. We want to set the facts straight. Chick-fil-A made the choice to voluntarily withdraw the Jim Henson Kid's Meal puppets for potential safety concerns for our customers on Thursday, July 19. On July 20, Chick-fil-A was notified of the Jim Henson Company's decision to no longer partner with us on future endeavors.

Hahaha. Damage control at max.

Hahaha. Damage control at max.

Didn't the Jim Henson Company officially announce they were pulling the products because of the comments?

Just making sure I got my facts straight. LOL get it?

Seriously, Chick-Fil-A is in this crazy position where they're digging themselves in deeper when they could have just said nothing and let this thing blow over.

They've gone beyond the comparison of "Racist guy shows us he's not a racist because he knows black people" to showing us he has NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" in iTunes, his DVD of Malcolm X, and he's now on the floor, sobbing and whimpering "Why doesn't anyone believe me?"

This thread made me look up the biblical definition of marriage, and King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. I don't know how he got anything done.

Count me in on the swath of "apathy". I've known CFA was owned by nutball christians for years now. Still eat their chicken nuggets.

All fast food corporations have their nefarious side. CFA is just more open about it.

Time and energy is better spent convincing Marylanders not to vote down the gay marriage bill in the referendum this year.

Takes no time or energy to not frequent a fast food joint.

Also, the thread has eviscerated your other points.

Good article that talks about how Rahm Emanuel has flip-floped on this issue. I believe that if Chick-fil-a is stopped from opening a second location in Chicago it will be a loss for all of us no matter what side you are on.

Good Article!

How does Chick-Fil-A's stance on gay marriage differ from President Obama's up until a month or so ago when his position "evolved"?

Fair point.

HOWEVER, despite the Supreme Court justifying the "separate but equal" clause, it was STILL inherently illegal because it infringed upon the Fourteenth Amendment (as well as the Civil Rights Act) and was eventually overturned because of so many subsequent things that proved that "separate but equal" was anything but.

I'm not aware of any right guaranteeing marriage....for anyone.

Loving v Virginia

Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival.... To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discrimination. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State.

The only difference at issue is whether it is acceptable to deny this fundamental right to an otherwise qualified citizen on the basis of the sex of the person they want to marry but the Court CLEARLY considered marriage a right.

You mean it wasn't politically adept to claim you were in support of gay marriage when attempting to win the votes of the electorate before having major political clout? Well fuck me sideways.

lol.

Even if there is no difference, the comparison is foolish. People are allowed to modify their views, otherwise we would have to kill the hateful scumbags.

What? In the hell.

Cripes! What does that have to do with anything? Especially considering the organizations that Chick Fil A donates to. Have you even read a single post in this thread?

Actually it does take time and energy to cook food oneself, rather than buying pre-made food.

I'm not a proponent of marriage for anyone, regardless of orientation. So I disagree about evisceration in general, except for people clogging up my fb feed with reposted CFA memes. :)

Are you talking about Obama modifying his views or all of the "outraged" people modifying what their response is to someone who states they think marriage is between a man and a woman? That their is more outrage about a guy that makes chicken sandwiches having that view than the guy sitting in the White house is hilarious to watch.

I'm all for gay marriage, FYI.

Your attempt at political commentary has already been dealt with.

As for the last bit, I did not suggest otherwise.

This isn't about just a guy saying, "I dont support same sex marriages." It goes a lot deeper than that so stop trying to dumb it down to something you can argue against.

It's easier to show Chik-Fil-A you don't agree with their opinion than it is the president. And, by openly disagreeing with them you can negatively influence their business. So, I think people just feel like they're capable of affecting Chik-Fil-A.
