I think 343 has given out a fair amount of information. Personally I'm not too please about how this information was released and the actual contents though. More often than not information was released via another source rather than directly from 343 which has lead to many misunderstandings and false speculation. Then there's the fact that half the Halo 4 news is from Frankie or David answering questions here which is a bit odd. While nice for us, I think 343 could've done a better job being clear about the info they released so more clarification wouldn't be needed so often. Also, I'd rather see 343 explain their reasoning behind changes more often. Just showing us something new (or something that was kept from older games) and not telling us the reasoning behind it can be frustrating at times.

I can understand that. I can understand all the frustration. I'm not begrudging any of you all for your opinions, no matter how petty they sometimes get. I'm glad such opinions exist, because for the most part it's constructive and it keeps devs on their toes.

My opinions just differ.

Basically, Halo 4 is playing catch up to COD, meanwhile COD has already progressed past what Halo 4 is trying to match.

Whoops.

Because it's cheaper? I mean, I know if I could stream from in game I would. A lot of the people who do stream aren't pros, and a lot of people who have a shitload of viewers aren't pros either.

(not arguing with you, just giving a different perspective)

Definitely a good point. Krow said the same. My response was, once you get that stream up, you're not tied down to one game. Is there really a sizeable playerbase to appeal to who aren't already streaming who would be happy with a basic streaming service?

I personally don't think so and it'd be easy to see a backlash if the selection of stuff within it was poor.

:lol holy shit, zoojoo's out for blood. You know you can always PM a mod to review your account and recent activity and see if you're reasonable enough to get your member status back, right? It's like the McGangbang of NeoGAF's feature set.
You think I have chance? My post history is sketchy as fuuuuuuuuk.

For people complaining about entitlement, vocal 2%, salty, expect too much, blah, blah, blah:
George Bernard Shaw said:
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I definitely agree with that. What that would mean though is not whining about what 343 is and isn't doing and go make your own damn game that is better...with blackjack and hookers.

Post history: sketchy.
Recent post history? Probably better. I'd just talk with someone reasonable like Mumei about it. Just try not to overdo it or seem like you're begging or anything. If you're confident that you've changed since your permajuniorment, it probably won't be too much of a stretch to get if fixed.

I'll trade in 5 Spec Ops missions for a spectator mode.
20 for 5 extra MP maps.
10 for an upload to Youtube feature.
15 for a proper map creator.

Sounds about fair.

This quote always pissed me off. There are plenty of reasonable men who change the world and there are plenty of unreasonable men who hinder progress.

GBS was a doofus.

Missed my reason for posting. Obviously, I'm using in context of the current discussion. Without dissent, complaints, different ideas/mindsets (unreasonable men), the reasonable men at Bungie/343i would never have had any reason to make the good changes that they *did* make.

I was in no way implying the literal meaning of the quote. Being truly unreasonable gets you no where.

I'll procrastinate a bit more and will prolly try it tomorrow.

Oh I know what the news is that Frankie was teasing. BSAngel is back so we can finally get the long awaited return of the weekly bulletin. Isn't everyone happy?

Yeah, you're right. For me, I'm hoping that streaming/clipping become standard in games. I really don't want to drop the money on all that for my PC. I can see devs not wanting to spend the time on it too though.

Can we stop with the image replies? It serves no real purpose. IIRC, replying consistently with solely images is ban-worthy.

Seriously, what the fuck is going on in here.

God I miss OG Halogaf.

This is the first time I've actually agreed with this sentiment.

Damn, CoD might have deds and livestreaming. I guess I'll just have to take solace in Halo's superior gameplay.

Congrats on member status! Now time for me...

Did I miss something this morning? What's everyone upset for?

EDIT: Lol, BO2 sounds like BO with a hint of MW3. Innovation at work.

But the spectator/livestream stuff is a great idea... u4ix is right. 343 needs to step up their game...

Hopefully Halo 5 can deliver a killer experience.

The entitlement in this thread is suffocating.

In my day, we had to walk 5 miles through the stroke-inducing heat of Texas (which lasts about 9 months) and fight the hungry, angry bobcat in front of Montgomery Ward so we could sift through the Atari and Intellivision games to pick the ones with the best cover art, or at least the titles we remembered from the back cover of a comic book. That was a game developer's marketing strategy, and we embraced it for what it was (never understood the whole bobcat fighting thing, but the point is I learned how to ride a bobcat at an early age).

Now you little bastards jump all over a developer when the gameplay pictures, videos, and opinions of regular and professional gamers who got to play a version of the game 4-5 months early isn't nearly enough for your goldfish-like brains.

Nice story "Gramps" but that's not the situation here.

Does some level of entitlement exist within the Halo Crowd? Or course it exists in virtually every person within the 1st world to some degree.

The issue is why can 343 not match features that are in its competition. Gear 3 had dedicated servers, that the negotiated with Microsoft to get.

Along side this Black Ops 2 has now added in a spectator mode and again is returning with dedicated severs.
Its not really about entitlement its about wanting halo to be competitive at a feature level to other BIG Online/Event Games.

I'm a Huge 343 fan, Iv loved all the previous work and im sure i will love halo4. However the point stands that certain features that would greatly help the competitive crowd (an important crowd to say the least) have been for what ever reason not included in the game.

I have big hopes that Halo 4 could return Halo to MLG but the lack of a spectator mode is a somewhat valid reason if they decide to not include it, Its virtually Octuples the cost of hosting a halo related event.

I'm sure 343 have more than valid reasons and I'd imagine that to them and many other people other things would be more prioritized but you cannot shush people for speaking vocally about features that you can say with near 100% certainty would improve the franchise.

We are not here to give 343 stick because "hurr durr hola iiz shity" every single person posting in this thread loves the game and has devoted an insane amount of time to playing and they just want the game they love to be the best it can be.

From our side of the fence things seem easy, "Forge is grey just let me colour value everything" hundreds of reasons likely exist why something like this is not just that easy and people tend to forget that but it would be nice if 343 could speak more openly about why things like this cant be done or have been omitted from the development scheduled, I think its wrong to expect answers like this from Frankie or Ellis they both have quiet specialized skill sets but a big Q&A weekly bulletin that was more focused to answering questions related to the development side of things would go a long way in some peoples books.

I respect Frankie trying but i feel answer's like "Its a bandwidth issue" create more questions than they answer.

343 are a busy studio and this is their first real title, i can forgive them alot of what the do because of this but if the info follows on in this manner then i can see people getting Real Salty before H5 and H6.

I swear there was something a few months back about a Halo 3 update...

Supposedly included in the August MM update is streamlining Halo 3 playlists alongside Reach's. Angel mentioned Halo 3 will have an update (although she didn't say how large or small) in the first bulletin in July I believe (or sometime in July), along with a significant playlist update for Reach, all slated for August.

One can only hope it'll be in today's bulletin. Beli343.

I'm stepping out of my downer pants and into my realism briefs...

There isn't really enough players who're wanting to stream the game, who don't currently have the equipment to do so, that desperately want and would utilise a feature like this. Those players who're intent on streaming, and developing an audience, already have the equipment to do whatever Blops 2 will allow, and more (I'm guessing, there).

For the very hardcore group, there's streaming, for everyone else there's theatre which more than fills the void in that regard. Saying that, I definitely think a spectator mode is an important feature that would be worth the resources required to implement it.
