Persona fans: What do you want out of Persona 5?

Has to be a completely new cast and the new UI should be dark green. College or Office Workplace as the setting.

I was thinking the same thing. If Atlus, for whatever reason, wanted the franchise to have more worldwide appeal (I'm not suggesting what's what they should do but it would be nice), that would be a great way to do it.

I want it using that sexy Catherine engine sometime this decade. Thankfully Atlus is finally running out of Persona games to rerelease/update.

This too (actually it's GameBryo, the engine everyone hates on Bethesda for using, but it looks like Atlus doesn't stretch it beyond its bounds). Catherine basically IS the graphics style of Persona just on current gen tech.

A multiplatform release that includes the PC ;_;

That would be nice, but I'm starting to think it's more and more likely it will be Vita. I'm personally thinking Vita and PS3 at least, with cross-play. Maybe 360 also since they bothered to release Catherine on 360.

It would also mean more sex, something that wouldn't fly in Japan if it kept a Cero B rating.

The high school setting is not going away.

If they absolutely have to keep the Cero B, then would a workplace work instead?

As long as they keep the balance between time management and dungeons, I'll be happy with whatever plot they wrap it up in. It's that "one more day" aspect that makes the games so addicting.

something new, surprise me. In line with 3 and 4 but with new and older characters, different non-school setting.

I want next persona with 3 + 4 characters set after what happens in Arena to be a separate game with a different name, not P5

this

college/university setting would be perfectly fine with me

I've had so many thoughts on this subject since it was announced last year, but I've forgotten most of them now. Here's a few off the top of my head:

Keep the turn based combat.

Bring back the modern feel of Persona 3.

Have completed S Links referenced in non-S Link events. People should acknowledge who the player is friends with, dating etc.

This isn't really a fair want, but whatever - A return to form for the OST. Arena is much weaker than previous games and Golden is a genuinely poor soundtrack (excluding Snowflakes). I really hope Meguro can amaze me like he has in the past.

Tone down the herp derp tone from Golden. No flowery UI or dancing opening or any of that crap, please.

Find some ways to make dungeons more interesting.

Make the world larger.

Include nods to previous titles.

I don't know if office settings have worldwide appeal for gamers.

I want a new story with new characters. Also, keep expert mode selectable from the beginning because the fights are fun.

Cathy sold great. I don't think we really know a Persona 5 at college with sexual relationships would sell worse, it might, it might sell better.

OpenWorld/HubWorld inspired by Bully

Setting outside of Japan (Atlus can pullet it off, at least Catherine could)

Even more integration of Social Links in the game.

Actual consequences for polygamy.

Shadow Points for being asshole. Not being necessary a bad thing (but It should not be a Karma Meter) Only some sort of benefice for choosing the obvious misanthropic answer in the social links.

No Canon name for the MC

Honestly, I wouldn't mind more of the same. Persona 4 hit all the right notes for me.

Can't say I disagree with this either.

I'm going to buy another Persona game regardless of what the setting is.
My only request is for no more Teddie. Just do that and I'll reserve your game.

Edit: Would also like the story to be darker than Persona 4.

Would it be too much to ask a Japanese game to let me customize my main character?

Just cut him/her out of the anime cutscenes

Better dungeons. The dungeon crawling kinda felt like a chore after a while and ended up being my least favourite part of the personas.

Perhaps structured dungeons instead of randomised ones, or at least a larger selection of random parts for each dungeon so you don't see the same rooms over and over again.

Don't think they'll let you create a character if they want to keep the door open for spin-offs and adaptations like P4A and the anime. A good middle ground is to let you choose from a wide selection of costumes throughout the seasons and such.

Bring back the grimness of both P2 games, or even the more lighthearted P3.

I like the weight those stories brought, and thought that P4 was too lighthearted, which is why it felt like the weakest story to me in the series.

I'll be pretty happy with whatever formula they go with. I'm honestly expecting Persona 3 but on a bigger scale, given how many concepts and ideas they had for it. So much they wanted to do, but it wasn't possible due to time restraints or limitations of the Playstation 2 hardware.

Female protagonist, social links, seamless battles, etc are all pretty much a given. Most likely a new cast with the P3/P4 cast supporting them, like the P1 cast was to P2.

I also would like to be the dungeon crawling to be better, but I've kind of accepted that dealing with it is something I'll have to put up with.

How is it not Persona?
Am I still summoning demons/creatures?
Am I still talking to people to build social links?

You say that like Persona is full of anime cutscenes.
One of the things that makes Persona work is a "set" main character. If a Persona game had a build your own character that would make it very awkward for social scenes where the main character is usually heavily featured.

Oh yeah, and no more robot girls.

You can never have enough robot girls. Besides, they're too easy to traumatize for personal gain storywise! :p

Although the whole non-human lifeform gaining a Human-like existence and individuality has been done enough in the Persona series.

This too. Especially if their NA voice actor sounds like a bad Harley Quinn impersonator.

*evil glare*

Are you talking about the social link "cut scenes?" They're all in-engine and feature the character models. Assuming that is what you're talking about I'm not certain why a customized character wouldn't fit in those.

There is no 'set' main character. The main character barely talks outside of the choices you make. I would say Dragon Age Origins does a better job of making your character feel like part of the story than the Persona games, and you can go buck wild with customization on there. they would still be in the social scenes. They wouldn't be in the anime scenes.

I'm talking both social link scenes and actual cut scenes. I just think a build your character wouldn't fit well for a social link scene and would definitely be difficult to do for cut scenes.
