I can hear traces of Halo, more in some tracks, less so in others. But overall, it isn't like the Halo we've used to.
Still like it a lot. Classic Halo music did start feeling old, heard enough of it.

Suppose. And Awakening sounds boss; the remix is even better. Sat here with some nice headphones on just nodding. Such a good remix.

I'm going to miss old Halo, but I'm willing to try something new.

Halo 4's setting me back HORRIBLY financially. My wallet's already bracing for impact, so far I got:

- $100 for LE game
- $60 for UNSC controller (need a new controller, why not)
- $75 for LE Soundtravk
- $200? for wireless Halo 4 headset (need a new headset, why not)

Working up to $500 alone on Halo 4. Wow. Not to mention there's going to be people out there who add the console to that list.

I know, but I'm wondering if it's the same SKU as the regular edition retail.

I'm thinking of buying the game day one at gamestop or something and then returning the version that came in the system bundle. Or maybe I'll just amazon it. :|

I had A40's, but they broke due to an unfortunate moving accident. My goodness what a headset. So fantastic. Currently I'm using Turtle Beaches XC1's ($19.99 Walmart model) as a transition until I get a better headset. .

I was about to drop the money for a pair of A50's, however it was announced that 343i will have a Halo 4 edition Tritton headset, so I'm holding until then just to see. Will still probably go with the A40/A50 (which do you recommend?).

the chanting in revival sounds awful, but to galaxy is really awesome imo.

i hope the original monks make an appearance sometime in the game :/.

Agreed. So far I haven't really heard anything that sounds particularly interesting. Most of it sounds generic more than anything, not much like Halo either. Nothing stands out and it's all just kind of there. Felt similar about most of Reach's OST although that one still had a few gems.

If you're going to be spending that much, might as well get Sennheisers. I'm assuming you already have a mixamp

If you have broken headset, worth trying out their customer service to see if anything can be done first. They have really good customer service, I have no experience with Tritton though just Astro, Sennheiser and Turtle Beach.

I actually sold my broken pair to a friend (who fixed them for himself) because I was too lazy to deal with them at the time (which was a little over six months ago).

In your opinion, A40's or A50's? I do like the wireless option.

These soundtrack samples are godly, as are their remixes. To Galaxy sounds so familiar. Almost Metal Gear Solid.

Also just realized there an original Nemesis. Can't wait to hear it all.

Do you find surround sound headphones to be that much better than stereo? I've always been curious.

Those samples are cool, but they sound too produced. Not exactly a big fan of the techno influence. Hopefully there are some more calm pieces... A lot of them sound like DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNNNN.

Still waiting on the classic Halo theme.

Okay, maybe it is the same. The colors may be putting me off.
Wish we'd get a bigger image of that Recruit armor to be sure.

I'm not too much of an audio enthusiast (I just like what sounds good), but I have a tendency to lean towards surround sound. Deeper bass, more solid treble, it's more of an engulfing sound.

Something that sucks is that I don't think I can really justify spending $70 on the Special Edition OST along with $99.99 on the LE of the game. I'm absolutely loving the samples along with the remixes, and I am curious about the making of the music DVD but it's just so damn pricey.


Edit: I'm getting a huge Massive Attack influence on these songs. To me, that's no a problem because I love that sound, it's nice to see a different take on the Halo soundtrack.

Why would you create a new playlist instead of just using the party restrictions that have already been in the past two games matchmaking systems? Makes no sense.

Listened to the OST samples, they are decent. The last two are pretty good, the first two don't do much for me. Gotta have it with the game to truly judge though, it has potential I think. I don't really care about the remixes, at least not right now.

I wish every playlist (FFA aside) had party matching. That way parties would have more competitive matches and people going in solo won't get slaughtered by full teams. That way you won't really need a mercenaries playlist either.

That song gets neutered in the middle. It's not a cohesive piece, let alone a complete remix. They added electronic bits to the beginning and end and threw in the original in the middle so they could justify calling it a remix.

The Hundred Waters remix is DOPE. I want an entire album of that.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who likes the new samples?

We need some pieces like Unforgotten or In Amber Clad from Halo 2. Or at least some pieces similar to Halo 3.

Everything is just too dark and predictable in my opinion.

Lack of this practically destroyed Reach for me when playing solo. In Halo 3 as well, come to think of it. I played mostly FFA there.

I highly doubt 2:25 is the entire track. It's probably closer to 4-5 minutes long. It's called building up ;P
