What your going to get, is HD collections to make bank like Sony did. Get ready for the Super Mario Galaxy HD collection featuring Galaxy 1 and 2 upscaled to 720p and added AA. And of course, the Zelda HD collection with Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and (hopefully) Wind Waker.

There's your winner.

Nintendo is going to make a shit ton of money of "HD Classics" releases. They'll probably be download only, just to push the margin through the roof.

Does anyone know if Scribblenauts Unlimited for Wii U is the same game as the 3DS version? I was planning on buying it but I'm curious if they're literally the same game. If so I'll just buy the 3DS version.

I'm ok with this. I mean, they're going to be made as well as OoT 3D was right?
RIGHT!?

I don't think symmetry is the issue here. Non symmetrical is fine as long as it's balanced. The reason the console looks odd is that the Wii U logo on the right is too simple to offset the visually busy power button and light on the left. If the blank space between sync and power was removed it'd look a bit better.

Shuffle Sync button and SD card 'lid' to the left would work.

nice, but the only thing that would push me over the fence is a HD Zelda: Wind Waker special edition with missing temples, revamped difficulty, and using all of the cool features of the Wii U

since that's a laughable dream, I'll go with the standard procedure, buy a cheap bundle down the line when there are at least 5 games I not just want to try but NEED to own.

I don't think so. OoT 3D is a remake, not a remaster. HD Collections are basically remasters, the same game but updated. Remakes are different.

Maybe they'll be Remasters made with love?
Wii U will only receive Remasters without love CONFIRMED. #Nintendoom

For me

Wii U
4 Pro Controllers
Rayman Legends (or NSMBU if not avaiable)
Just Dance 4 for my sister as a gift
P-100

Maybe :
Mass Effect 3
Nintendo Land (if not packed in)

Thought I'd make a list of any confirmed exclusive games for the Wii U, whether they be announced, unannounced or leaked.

Announced

Game & Wario
Lego City Undercovered
Medium
New Super Mario Bros. Wii U
Nintendo Land
Pikmin 3
Rabbids Land
Rayman Legends
Scribblenauts Unlimited
SiNG
Tank! Tank! Tank!
Wii Fit U
ZombiU

Unnamed/Unannounced/Leaked

Project P-100
Untitled 3D Mario Game
Untitled Capcom Game "Announcing Very Soon"
Untitled Legend of Zelda Sequel
Untitled Mistwalker Action RPG
Untitled Monolith Soft Game
Untitled Retro Studio Game "everyone wants us to do"
Untitled Smash Bros. Sequel
Untitled THQ Card Game

Enhanced Ports

Batman: Arkham City -- Armored Edition
Dragon Quest X
Mass Effect 3
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

Are there any more I missed? I know there are a few sport collection titles I decided to skip (kinda biased towards sports games I guess). After making this list, I don't see why people are so angry about the Wii U launch, I mean we have two Nintendo core titles: New Super Mario Bros. Wii U and Pikmin 3, the latter of which fans have been asking for for a while; a new Nintendo IP from one of the best new developers (Project P-100), and an exclusive "core" title from Ubisoft, Rayman Legends. Nintendo Land might even come with the Wii U (hopefully). I'm definitely planning on getting a Wii U this year (five or so games is gonna last me a while, and I really just plan on getting Pikmin 3 and Project P-100). I also haven't played Arkham City and Mass Effect 3, so I could also get those if I wanted.

I was supposed to go to a Wii U Experience session up in Denver, CO, but wasn't able to go. Heard it was alright minus the short time and amount of gameplay setups there. Guess I'll wait just like the rest of the world and see if this is going to be good.

Off the top of my head, Capcom recently confirmed that it has Wii U projects in the works. Also, Square Enix said it would be making a Wii U version of Dragon Quest X. By the way, I don't think MistWalker actually has a Wii U Action RPG in development, at least not yet.

MistWalker lead game designer comments on possibily wanting to do more action-RPGs:

“The development team and Sakaguchi-san are looking forward to making more, especially for the Wii U because it has another [screen] right in front of you that will add another level of strategic elements into the action-RPG. So we are really looking forward to it, but we haven’t really planned anything.”

The developer also said it has "several projects" currently planned and while it wouldn't say if any of them were for home consoles, we do know it has like 3 iOS titles.

Has there really been nothing on remade/rebranded Wii controllers? Makes little sense to have Wii-branded controllers on the Wii U. Aesthetics change, don't they?

"Also, for those who did not know, one of the Nintendo representatives that were on hand said the old Wii controllers will not be usable on Wii U. They look and play the exact same, but they are not compatible with the Wii U system."

wat

I'm guessing that means Wii controllers without Wii Motion Plus?

Another new OT?

So, question, everyone:

To all you launch day-buyers - will you be buying one IN STORE or get it from amazon, etc?

probably at costco on launch day(hopping they have it, they had OG 3ds and zelda Ooft 3ds on realease)

games:
Rayman Legends
Zombie U
Project P-100
nintendoland >.< that f-zero

I suppose they should try to make Wii Remote+ the new standard, but this seriously puts a damper on my New Super Mario Bros. U plans. I only have one Wii Remote+ and one Wii MotionPlus.

Edit: Oh, is this for all Wii Remotes in general? I thought it meant the original Wii Remotes.

More than likely misheard. I was at the Denver event, and using the Wii Controllers on the Wii U was clearly mentioned by the reps on the Nintendoland demo.

Whoops, must of misinterpreted the article about Mistwalker and Wii U games. I originally took Dragon Quest X off the list since its not really a Wii U exclusive, but I'll put it back. Guess I'll put the capcom game "announced very soon" up there as well.

I'm in the hype train!!!

My launch games:

-New Super Mario Bros U
-Rayman Legends

Interested into/want to know more:

-Project P-100
-Zombi U

I really hope they'll rehash their older Wii titles in glorious 1080p, Zelda TP/SS, SMG 1-2, Xenoblade, Kirby EY/RtDL. THE POTENTIAL! Even if I already play all of those on Dolphin I'd buy them in a heartbeat because it would be 'official' stuff. :p

Check out your local Targets if you want another Motion+ controller. One near me was clearing out Fling Smash for $25 a few weeks ago.

It can do 6 channel (/5.1) PCM surround sound over HDMI. It's PCM because I imagine they don't want to pay the DD or DTS license fee (or whatever).

I might be wrong re the DD/DTS thing, but it can do 5.1 over HDMI. I don't think it can do optical out.

Well that is the crux of my problem...The install base of people with HDMI switching receivers is like probably a few percent while just about everyone who has a home stereo purchased in the last 10-15 years has some form of S/PDIF connector. All to save Nintendo a few bucks on a licensing fee and 20 cents of hardware lol.

For a lot of people you plug your HDMI cable from your console into your TV and thats it. Most TVs aren't equipped to handle 5.1 sound. So I suspect that most of the WiiU userbase will be 2.0 stereo. Thats a shame. I am not so rich that I would upgrade my stereo but I love surround in games.

There is positively no way Wii controllers wont be compatible with the Wii U.

Don't think so.

We already know that Wii motion plus controllers work on WiiU games, it has been live demo'ed.

He prob means regualr Wii motes dont work on WiiU games, but WiiU is BC so they will work with Wii games, or they dont know what they are talking about and are wrong.

They made a new Classic controller so they prob will do that, what dont know a lot about WiiU stuff yet, just wait and see.

Yup.

I'm sure it is more like this...

Wii games on the Wii U will be compatible with "Normal" Wiimote, and their previous compatible controllers.

However, Wii U games will not be compatible with the "Normal" Wiimote, instead only WiimotePlus can be used.

So... you cannot use the "Normal" Wiimote for the game of Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed for Wii U. You will have to use the WiimotePlus (Or, normal Wiimote with WiiMotion Plus).

I'd be very surprised if WiiU games don't work with the standard Wiimotes.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if third parties excludes it, but I think Nintendo will maintain compatibility with their first party titles if the Wiimote can be used properly with X game.

Wasn't NSMBU compatible to begin with?

I thought Nintendo themselves said that the reason a lot games are gonna utilize the wiimote is there are millions upon millions of them floating around out there?

And I could see not allowing the plain original remote, but not allowing the WM+ would be pretty low.
