Yeah, the ScribbleNaughts boxart does look lovely, but I won't be getting the game.

I plan on snatching up a black Wii U with Pikmin 3 and ZombiU and/or Rayman Legends with enough cash saved up to get P-100 and whatever other surprises may be in store later in 2013. I might consider New SMB U if it ends up being better than expected.

/sigh, I still can't decide if I should get scribblenauts or not. I've never played one and I just can't get a good sense of what exactly you do in these games. I want it to be the game I would get my wife to play and I've tried showing her the trailers so far for it but she is even more clueless than I am and hasn't been impressed yet.

She's not a gamer so I was hoping it would be something we could co-op, but I don't know if that's how it works. I just don't get it.
In the past titles, you're given a goal at the beginning of the stage. Sometimes it's just "make it to this point we've marked with a star". Sometimes it's "do this more specific task, which will make the star appear". Either way, you are expected to then come up with some nouns, create the objects the nouns describe, and use those to help you reach the star or perform the task asked of you to make it appear.

Or you could dick around on the title screen for hours just trying to see how many nouns you could think up, that works too.

Weird that it has a black box outline, too. I thought 3DS boxes were white.

yup, that too ...

you're forgetting ADJECTIVES!

you could make a FRIENDLY zombie in Super Scribblenauts :)

I've tried PMing the poster. No response. No change. I give up.

I'm the one who made the OP and made that counter. It's because the line up for the event starts at 9, while the event itself starts at 10. You'll start getting images and hype tweets from IGN and the like starting at 9. :p

Love that boxart, might add it to my launch list now.

I mean, I already was planning to buy it some day, but that boxart might have pushed me over the edge for a first day purchase. Or perhaps I'm able to snatch it as a review copy, would be even better. We'll see.

Man, still two weeks away... the wait is killing me! What are we going to do in all that time? Speculate? We've been doing that for ages now! I need my launch info!

Speaking of which, how big is the chance that we'll get European launch info at the event? Or perhaps the European division will send out launch info simultaniously?

The hell is this? The NoA thing will be underwhelming, as I don't see any new game announcements at their NY thing, while Iwatas typical fall conference would have been exciting. Perhaps the Japanese support is as laughable as the Western?

It wouldn't take much to outdo the Western titles that have been announced. We shall see.

I guess the problem we had before E3 is that we had nothing about Wii U games news, but a lot of people said "there is a NDA, we will have tons of games shown at E3", and look back what we had.
This situation looks strangely like pre-E3 news but for japanese support.

But I agree it's way too soon to jump to conclusion, we should do like we always do, wait and see...
And what's the problem with amazon boxart? >.<

9 pm PDT is not 10 am EDT.

I was referring to the original poster, not the event. ...as in he may have been asleep or at work somewhere else in the world :)

Not really into scribblenauts so I wouldnt know but what are the online capablities of the game?

there is co-op (not sure if online) but what is known is that you will be able to share the creations and basically have a global database of creations since you can name them and then use it if you know the name if the object someone made. a little hazy on the details but that's the nitty gritty.

Small note: overhauling the entire op with new images and info :)

make sure to add in the bits about Miiverse message moderation w/ delay only occurring if the message gets flagged by the community) and friend codes not being friend codes as we grew to hate them but even more simplified than the single code on 3DS.

IGN' starting a series of articles that look back on the interesting birth of the Wii as we wait impatiently for the launch of the Wii U.

"I could give you our technical specs, as I know you'd like that, but I won't for a simple reason: they really don't matter. The time when horsepower alone made all the difference is over." - Iwata

"Imagine sticking your hand into a virtual box and having your TV understand how it's moving in there."- Iwata

Is 32mb of edram good? I'm not a tech guy. Just wanted to know if that's good enough for AA and such? I hate jaggies too.

Its very good, and a nice surprise

To put it another way, it would be unlikely any other next gen system would have much more than 32mb eDRAM, and considering the Wii U won't be on par with those systems, it bodes well for IQ (image quality) being markedly improved over what average gamers are used to with the PS3 and 360

the 360 did have 10mb of eDRAM (which was why blu made mention of the 10mb) but indications are the Wii U's won't simply be newer and have 3x as much, but that it might be more synergistic with the GPU than the 360's was

It will be able to support "free" AA, for example, to improve IQ, but it depends on whether developers bother to do it or not.

The Wii U will be capable of it though.

btw...fantastic looking boxart

I might end up picking this game up, unless I get it for the 3DS....Scribblenauts is such a fun game.
Is it a good game for 4-6 kids? My elder daughter is starting to read and it looks like this game could be great for her.

Mind pointing me in the direction to where this info was confirmed?

Scribblenauts box art is once again gorgeous and charming as hell. And Wii U cases are still fugly.

I don't believe any Japanese announcement for WiiU happens before Iwata holds his very own event. And the Capcom WiiU game will obviously be Resident Evil 5 Chronicles.

Actually I'd love another Chronicles game, I loved the first two. The Resident Evil franchise is my favourite franchise and the fan service was excellent. I'd love to download HD versions of both, in 480p both games were very impressive visually.

Mind you, I'd prefer to have a Revelations sequel as an exclusive. Can't believe that Revelations was a big step forward, going back to it being more survival horror than action, and then they take huge steps backwards with Resident Evil 6. Bloody frustrating to see from someone that's enjoyed the franchise right from the beginning!!!(

I'd say that Monster Hunter would be a safe bet, Resident Evil of some description being reasonably likely and, as an outside chance Nintendo Vs Capcom lol.

My God, we better had do. I'd be seriously pissed if they say "No European announcement at this time" or other such bullshit.

This boxart looks so good it made me notice the game for the first time. I'm asking again, would you recommend it to a 6 years old?

remember: the 3DS version does not have the object editor!

ooh you're making me dig up my old post with the links again ... will take a minute...

Is it a good game for 4-6 kids? My elder daughter is starting to read and it looks like this game could be great for her.

absolutely ... but you should maybe play it with her because you need to have the vocabulary at the ready to make objects. it's a great opportunity to teach her some new words or things like Cthulu or astronaut :)

They already said they werent releasing any info regarding EU. Thats how I dont see how Iwata saying no JP info is a big deal either.

-> there ya go:

Miiverse:
There will be no message moderation for every message. there is a basic "bad-word" filter and if your message is "clean", it will go through without any problem.
if you managed to be creative with your filth, then the community can "flag" the message and THEN it gets reviewed by Nintendo which might take 30 minutes.

"Not-Friend-Codes":
Reggie: "You will be able to identify people as friends and have a certain level of interaction vs. a different level of interaction for the more general population. The method by which you identify someone as a friend is a lot simpler than what's happening today with Friend Codes."

nintendoconnect.com/2012/06/11/miiverse-moderation-used-for-flagged-users/

(full reggie interview here: http://kotaku.com/5917363/better-fr...-nintendo-answers-our-burning-wii-u-questions
that interview also contains the "friend-codes-but-different" clarification)

you write message -> automatic filter for bad words -> clean? message goes through -> community flags it -> message gets reviewed by Nintendo Ninja -> message okay? -> you live. -> message not okay? -> Nintendo Ninja right behind you.

its a very creative game, and something I think you and your daughter could play and really enjoy together, especially for learning words

I would certainly recommend it for young children

Would you recommend it for a 30 year old guy who likes to play CoD for hours on end and his wife who doesn't really play games but when she does get's suckered into them like she did when I introduced her to The Sims?

Thanks guys, if the game is available in french I'll get it.

It will be. All previous games supported all those fancy European languages :)

Yes. But different reasons for both :)

Ah very good, thanks for digging that up.

Are you guys thinking we'll hear more about online service/other features about the upcoming console during the September conference? I'm hoping it's more than just price, release date, and release date games.

It likely will have a french language option.

I would imagine if you are in France, it would be

If you are in Canada, then it will be an NTSC version, and most of the third party games are english only.

That said, there should be an option to change it in the menu...In the DS games, the language option could be changed. I have been able to play it in both french and english.

Nintendo's first party titles do a good job of providing french language too, which is awesome
