Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

I think it's pretty odd people think is already a bad high/low quality game ratio. There's actually a ton of interesting stuff in there. I'm sure there's still a couple of hundred fart apps submitted to iOS every day.
Also kind of lame a lot of people seems to make really superficial decicions of what to up/downvote.

I'm actually happy to see the voting threshold seems really high. I've only come across a couple games so far that even had 1%. My fears of Steam becoming even remotely like the app store are gone.

I think a lot of people don't seem to understand you're not actually voting for what goes on Steam, you're really voting for what Valve will take a look at to consider putting on Steam.

Yeah, I think I'm going to hold off on submitting anything for now. I had hoped to use it for alpha feedback and testing as well as a way of getting new versions out to those that want to try them but I just don't think Greenlight is, regardless of Valve's intention, really geared for that. I'll probably just try and do it through the XBLIG process.

There is too many, there should be a queue of some sorts. Viewing through 400 games is bad.

Yeah, there needs to be more filtering options. Requiring submitters to label the state of their games with one a few generic flags would be a great start (e.g. Proof of concept/Work in progress/Nearing release/Ready to release).

Whew. Voted for every... single... game. Highlights of day one for me are: Waiting for Horus, Routine, Incredipede and Project Zomboid. Can't wait to see what Greenlight's first "pending" game is.

So, yeah. There needs to be some other restriction from letting any asshole submit a "game" other than their ability to fill out a webform.

Don't forget to upvote Kenshi! That game looks super promising.

I imagine people will eventually grow tired of posting fake games on Greenlight once it's not the hot new thing to fool around with, and move on (at least I hope so).

I really wish there was a way to go through projects in an easier manner. Like I'd love it if there was a mode where it would load a new project as soon as you cast your thumb up or down so that you could just work your way through the list slowly.

Were there rumors about Steins;Gate or something?

I have actually personally tried to convince them to bring the game out in English with us doing the localization. They seem pretty close minded about the whole idea though.

Need some excuse to permaban that guy ^

Like using Nvidia's logo and products in the game without permission. I hope once the initial wave of idiots get permabanned off of Greenlight (and hopefully it's restricted to premium Steam accounts and not free accounts), things will settle down.

I am not a dev, just a normal gamer. I thought it was anyone but then i saw the agreement in the end.

Yeah, do you know how many people would be submitting ideas instead of actual products? How many would be submitting their friends games which may only be in alpha?

It would be worse than Kickstarter, because the onus to create an actual game ASAP would be on either you or the person you submitted for. You wouldn't have a year to make it. You'd have about three weeks.

Well, who is to say that doesn't already happen...

They get reported and taken down almost instantly. What else do you want?

It might prove to be more efficient in the future for both Steam and the users if there's some standard in place that allows one to submit a game and cut down on the pranking/garbage. I agree with the person above that once the novelty wears off the pranking will decrease, but I will never underestimate the internet's propensity to find the stupidest shit funny. "LOL4chanmeme let's pretend to make a gaem about it and submitt it!"
