This is Monolith Soft's Wii U game?

Would be awesome if that was a new Mother.

Not possible, I guess, but awesome.

when did this pic appear?

A brand new console and people are advising we keep our expectations in check. *Sigh*, gone are the days where we can actually treat ourselves to a little hype.

We knew about Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 Smash Bros and more all within the time frame we've had knowing about the Wii U. Pathetic.

We have to see RETRO'S new game, and I WILL expect it. Someone has to keep the faith.
You're crazy.

It should be possible, Nintendo seems to be doing a one by one revamp of older franchises, and as long as they make new music for it there shouldn't be any copyright infringements. I just hope it comes out in the UK.

Other than that, I can see Monolith working on a space age RPG, or something with getting an alien back to their home planet.

I swear there was another piece of art with a castle seemingly floating in the background?

Some time in... June last year?

Don't do this to yourself. :p

E.T. JRPG? I'd much rather X-Files.

*On a serious note: if I remember right, they were asking for mech design experience (for their Wii U game).*

I swear there was another piece of art with a castle seemingly floating in the background?

Was that image relevant to anything currently in development, though? Or was it just a random one-off type deal? The image in question was highly, highly reminiscent of Diadem from Baten Kaitos. Problem is that BK, apparently, is six feet under.

Screw you all.

At least it'll be a good laugh when you can all witness my meltdown and crippling disappointment.

My desire to purchase this system has gone from wait it out > day one > wait it out > day one > not even sure I'll be buying it anymore.

Next E3 will be all about ps720. If I were Nintendo I'd try to hype people before that.

Bingo.

Not just E3, though. You hype people every few months through Nintendo Direct as well. Keep the interest and excitement flowing throughout the year.

If I were Nintendo, I'd actually save any megatons for E3 2013.

We know the 720 and PS4 will be there, but if Nintendo showed off Monolith's and Retro's games, along with a CGI Smash Bros 4 trailer along with other unknown projects, a lot of people would seriously forget about the launch titles for the PS4/720. For E3, that is.

What's the opposite of megaton? That's what we'll get on the 13th.
A tiny black hole with the force of a negative megaton?
Bingo.

If MS waits that long then Nintendo has ~10 months to themselves to hype whatever they want. And if MS is launching later in the year there's more time for Nintendo to release games, like save big game for an E3 reveal and quick launch before the others are even close to out.

Apparently a new NintendoLand game was revealed to be Metroid Blast (according to GFAQs). Is this new info?

Edit: Oh, haha. Apparently the new GameInformer has the info.

i don´t get this "expectations in check" yadda yadda in nintendo threads. i remember when 3ds came out, everyone was like "but vita is coming and it will blow the 3ds out of the water". we know what happened. we also know what happened with ps3/xbox360: hacked network, rrods, fail at the "all games running in 1080 on 60 fps"- promise, "unnecessary " rumble pak... it wasn´t like they missed all chances to fail. and still people are concerned about wiiu, but completly relaxed almost dreaming about ps4/xbox 720.

yes, not everything is perfect. but a little bit more self esteem and confidence wouldn´t hurt.

Thanks for the flowers

Yes i jumped the gun a little... But im MAN enough to admit it *scratches balls*

Wait what? No I meant the original web source who made the Infinite -> Wii U thing up based on that investor call.

Do you guys think Nintendo will have a megaton for Wii U the 13th? I just can't imagine that they think they can get the 'core' gamers with just Zombi U. What are the chances of seeing Retro's game?

No, just no. Save yourself the pain. If you go in hoping for something like that it will probably end badly. Better to be surprised if they randomly decide to do it than to expect it and then have them not deliver. #E32012lessons

The editor of ONM told me to keep my expectations in check: https://twitter.com/ChandraONM/status/244142690466426880

'cause it's the smart thing to do. look at E3.

the new game informer that isn't even out yet?

edit: oh I see, it came from the preview samples! nvm, then :)

you're looking at it wrong. we're just saying don't go crazy. this isn't a secret bonus E3 with megaton game announcements all of a sudden. this is a pre-launch event that is gonna cover the launch details to get everyone ready. they might tease something but going into this with "okay, we're gonna see tons of games that we can finally boast about without having to explain why it's actually cool for two paragraphs" is just nuts at this point. we've now seen what Nintendo's strategy looks like.

Man i was meaning to make a post like this, but I didn't know how to phrase it. I really couldn't have said it better myself and i agree

While I'm not sure what you are referring to specifically, I think the general consensus is that people should keep their expectations in check in regards to the Wii U event next Thursday. Some are expecting the world from Nintendo at the event and we very well may see another E3 melt down if people don't manage their expectations properly.

Here is a question that probably nobody knows and has probably been asked a million times, and I'm sure that everybody who frequents this thread is tired of it:

What can be expected from the September 13 conference?

- Release date, price

- A look at the Wii U eShop's interface and pricing

- Release dates for all launch software

- FULL Nintendo Network details. Account system, etc.

- FULL MiiVerse details. Examples of how all games use it

- A look at the Wii U OS

- More announcements about video/social services (HBO Go, NBA, NFL, etc)

- Maybe a surprise game announcement or two (black ops 2, etc)

GameInformer basically confirms that normal Wiimotes work on Wii U and it's up to the developers if they wish to use Motion+ or not.

Metroid Blast up to 5 players. Wii Game Pad is Samus ship (might feature other types of machines), and 4 players can play in free-for-all or team deathmatch. Pointer and analog controls supported. Several maps! Classic Metroid music. You will smile.

i meant it in general. nintendo folks tend to be very insecure about their consoles, while others have the "whoa"attitude. why not just appreciating what we have and be a little bit more confident?

Apparantly Bethesda said they're not sure about Wii U so no games from them.

I'm shocked and amazed.
Is this going to be met with derisive sarcasm, as was my comment about how one may be justifiably skeptical on third parties considering how many big titles remain unannounced?
Resident Evil 6 - Possible, but given the upcoming release on 360/PS3 maybe unlikely to be announced next week
Dishonored - No, just see Bethesda's attitude towards Wii U
Far Cry 3 - Probably unlikely given the mature content, also else it probably would've been mentioned already (and I think they already commented on that)
Crysis 3 - No, see Yerli's comments regarding Wii U
Bioshock Infinite - No, see Take-Two's comments regarding Wii U and/or the fact that they seem to be having development problems
Tomb Raider - No, see the Crystal Dynamics excuse
GTA 5 - Maybe, probably unlikely, but definitely won't be announced next week
Dead Space 3 - Maybe, probably not, because EA
Rockstar is a subsidiary of Take-Two.

I can see RE6 definitely coming.

I bet people are going to eat a lot of crow on NSMBU and Nintendo Land. I think Nintendo is going balls out with content and nostalgia candy on those games. It is Pikmin 3 you should all be worried about.

The PC digital issue needs to go live......

Some NSMBU info seems to say the game has branching paths on the world map and design is like SMW.

Will Wii U support 4k resolution that all those new tvs will be coming out with soon?

lol no. you won't see 4k games even on the other systems.

Pointer controls? Megaton.

That was known from the Battle Mii tech demo last year.

All the games look tremendously better than their E3 2011 tech demo versions. Don't tell me you're wowed more just because the Metroid screens are set in the dark with flashy lights now...

Fuck yes! This minigame looked really fun at E3 2011, and seemed like a better Metroid Hunters. I'm all over, especially with online play (I can still dream).
