What if there's a ghost house world and for some of the levels Mario jumps into paintings on the walls (thus the starry night level with ghosts... also a SM64 reference).

Those problems aren't solved by Motion+ as it still uses the sensor bar for recentering. Thus if you point at another light source, the pointer still recenters to this light source and all is off-target. Also, you need much larger movements and it's not as precise as direct pointing.

The "veering away from the sensor bar" issue is different to the one you're describing, and using both the IR pointer and the M+ gyro (a la Red Steel 2) is one potential solution.

Please explain your point again, sorry. Skyward Sword does use M+ and the sensor bar and still has this recentering issue, doesn't it. I don't remember much about RS2 anymore, but it also recentered to other light sources, if I remember correctly.

You do realize in SS it recentered to wherever you were pointing whenever you went into a menu, right? It wasn't just because of drifting. I find most people didn't realize this

I would really love if the music in NSMBU was something like this (LISTEN TO THIS, ITS AMAZING):

http://youtu.be/EZG3jbav82M

the composition is really amazing, its the quality thats lacking. This orchestrated NSMBWii version proves it.

That is very nice.

I don't mind if it's digital music, I just don't like the instruments they use in NSMB games. Actually, with better instruments I would prefer it to orchestral. Orchestra just doesn't seem to fit for the 2D games, I think.

great! I already enjoyed the E3 demoes in a similar event in Italy, hopefully we'll be able to put our hands on the newest demoes soon.

Metroid blast is, up to now, the game more suited for me and my "gamers" friends, being a shooter with free movement (unlike Zelda that's onrail), while the "Yoshi touch&go" structure of Balloon fight make me smile :)

This is the incorrect response. He told you what he didnt like about the game with reasons. Undermining his critical points by acting as if he doesnt understand how opinions differ is cliche on the internet.

If someone hates something, and makes a point to say why, the very least you could do is refute those points with points of your own. If the game doesnt look generic to you, say why. If the game looks fun to you, say why. No one ever convinced anyone of anything by undermining them. Try selling them on your opinion rather than undermining theirs.

Nintendo Land should have been one fully fleshed out level from every major Nintendo franchise running at 1080p, with a promise to flesh out each popular level into it's own Wii U game.

16 major Nintendo Franchises, all headed to the Wii U in 1080p as fully fleshed out games.

A full F Zero race. A full Star Fox stage. A full Smash Bros level with one stage, A full Mario Kart race, etc all in 1080p. That would have sold a shit ton of Wii U consoles and hype up upcoming games for it.

So basically a full price demo collection?

You might be right about the menu controls, but I currently have no way to check it out again. I'm sorry about that. There were still some huge problems caused by other light sources.

The game didn't use IR pointing. How can other light sources be a problem if the game doesn't look for light sources to begin with?

It was a problem with moving the pointer, I don't quite remember what it was. But other light sources were a more severe problem with swordfighting itself, that's true. If I remember correctly, the motion+ pointing had some issues with not translating the controller movements correctly into pointer movements as the other light sources threw the calibration off. For example, moving the controller to the right did not move the pointer to the right.

But again, I have no chance to check this in the near future again so I can only confirm these issues for swordfighting with full certainty. It is actually hard to give instructions for how to test this, most even didn't know that the sensor bar was used at all in the game.

It does use the IR sensor bar, actually.

I think he's talking about IR pointing in menus.

There are new screens, my friends. With
Yoshi and Torpedo Ted back
I don't know if posting links is possible, since probably those images are sort of scans.

I really don't like the way Mario looks in this game. I don't understand why they went with this shiny/plastic look instead of the softer look they introduced in NSMB2. Also short/fat Mario > tall/slim Mario.

Just saw the new screens, it's basically SMW on Wii U. Looking good.

It appears as if different colored Yoshi's have different powers again like SMW. There's a golden baby Yoshi that illuminates dark areas and stuns enemies.

The Ice Flower is back, crossing my fingers for the return of the Penguin Suit.
And more water castles, someone at Nintendo knows I like them, question is can they top Vanilla Fortress?

Are those new screens from GI?

The image I posted isn't. GI hasn't posted screenshots but other sites have them.

There's one image that makes it look like Yoshi has a health meter. You see Mario on Yoshi as he's eating an apple and a health meter SM64 style split into 1/5th's is above Mario and Yoshi.

If there's one thing I still don't like about these games is that we're still being stuck with 2 toads for players 3 and 4. Come on! At the very least go back to the good ol Super Mario Bros 2 days (yes I know it was originally Doki Doki Panic), and let the 4th player play as one of the Princesses.

After reading all of these previews and taking stuff from SMW, my interest has definitely piqued up. I will now get this game!
only after Rayman Legends

Other thing I don't understand is why all characters control the same. In NSMB you could unlock Luigi but it was the same as Mario. Moreso considering the Galaxies and SM3DL get this right.

I believe a throwback to SMW, where eating 5 fruits/enemies would turn baby Yoshi into adult Yoshi or give you a powerup/one-up

Also looks like Monty Mole is back.

Looking at the screens, and I have to say.. need to see this game in motion. Some of it looks like has a more cel-shaded look, like the grass and stuff, but it contrasts with the somewhat painted backgrounds.

To put all players in multiplayer on the same playing field I imagine. The first NSMB had a versus focused multiplayer mode, Luigi having higher jumps could probably work more in his favour.

Did anyone getting excited about the SMW stuff play NSMBWii? From what we've seen, the only thing more SMW about this game than NSMBWii is the map. I prefer SMW's map-style, too, but it's a non-factor in game quality.

I bet this image or something similar to this will end up being the cover.

Hmm, so that's the Sparkling Waters world. Doesn't look very different from previous water worlds. I believe this is the first confirmation of adult yoshis.

Hmmm, in one of the new screenshots there are Miis in the background watching Mario approach the flagpole. And far off in the distance is a castle that isn't Peach's.

Better that another Wii Play equivalent.

Instead of 16 good, competitive, fun, fleshed out levels, we are getting 12 games that are each the equivalent of Wii Play minigames but skinned with some Nintendo costumes on them.

Nintendo Land for all it's hype is basically just Wii Play, but with some skins applied to the mini games.

There are also Baby Yoshis and the squirrel suit looks at least visually similar to the cape. What I'm really wondering is if Yoshi is once again restricted to specific levels like in NSMBW.

Except development doesn't work like that. Nintendo EAD doesn't have the resources to have 16 major games all in development concurrently. And they definitely wouldn't all be in the same stage of development where they can make a full level for each.

Uhhh... I like the original versions much better, actually suits the style of the game much better than this orchestrated stuff. Not saying this doesn't sound good, but you have to think how it fits the game and this doesn't fit the game,

Except they aren't...

Most of them seem to be fully featured games. Hell this thread is about the Metroid Blast game, which we can at least see 3 different maps, and like 3 different game types.
