Strawberry Panic just serves to further prove that unless you have someone extremely talented like Dezaki working with the concept, stuffy 1% private academies are the worst setting in anime. Castle-like courtyards and dorms are a bore, oujosamas are the single worst character archetype in existence, and the infinite retread of issues of jealousy, hierarchy, and class is pretty insufferable. Oniisama e is amazing, but every other show that plays this stuff straight? Nope.

On one hand I kind of agree that the whole super exclusive school idea has been way played out, I still enjoy such shows because there is normally some dark secret that makes things interesting. Plus the outfits and characters are usually cute and there is inevitably someone in the series who is certifiably insane.

But what if cute was in cute?

When Cute transcends itself to another level of existence it is exempt from my previous rules.

If you just want to watch something cute with a touch of puppy love in it yes. Not much happens, but what does is absolutely adorable. Tsumiki has some of the cutest reactions to things I have ever seen.

I've seen or heard quite a few people refer to anime characters as being "glassy eyed freaks", looking at all these Chitanda gifs I don't think she's really helping to change that perception haha.



I remember some of the backgrounds in this episode looked really low budget. When the girls were trying to recruit the new girl there was a static painted or sketched type background but with students added as well. It looked kind of strange to me seeing the girls literally standing around talking for a couple minutes, where these people in the background just stood absolutely still. It probably would have looked a bit better if they didn't include them.




It's certainly one of those scenes of the show I'll probably remember long after it has finished airing.

I like Chitanda. she can be cute, if not overbearing, but I got over the whole "ooh pretty eyes" thing quickly. They are pretty unsettling after a while. I think they overdid it.

On the lesbian scale though, I suppose it goes SP > M > O.

This is really true of everything, or should be. Some people are just stuck in literary juvenalia mode and cannot yet comprehend any purpose to fiction other than plot uber alles. I have faith that someday they'll crack that eggshell, though!

Wow, they really brought their A game for this one. Some of the character animation this time looked wonderful and the story did a really good job of tying both seasons together. I feel like the final gag cheapened what could've otherwise finished on a really sweet note but whatever.

Also, Akarin's sister is the best.

I actually thought it was pretty interesting how pissed off she got in the last episode. That was an unexpected character trait, but I guess that was the Japanese obsession with always following the proper protocols rearing its head, lol.

The interesting thing about this episode, other than Rei-chan of course, is that the little girl, I can't remember her name, is voiced by Yuriko Fuchizaki, who would go on to voice Anthy Himemiya in Utena. This marks her first vocal performance in the Sailor Moon series, where she voices a couple of more characters later.

Maybe you don't care but I'd thought I'd share anyway.

Firstly, no, it shouldn't be true of everything.

Secondly, while Hyouka indeed focuses on the relationships between the characters, the characters are so vapid and dull for far too many episodes that it really ruins the show.

For an "educational" show about the periodic table this certainly did its best to bury any potentially useful information about chemistry under as much totally meaningless technobabble as it could. I certainly feel that I've gained some very useful knowledge by watching children shoot a nitrogen gun at a plant monster made of oxygen which then crystallized into dihydrogen pentoxide FOR SCIENCE REASONS.

At least the show has a smashing OST and the characters are fun and have a youthful can-do spirit.

Oh, and Juno:

Adorable. Even if her head is kind of too big for her body.

Some AnimeGAFfers will appreciate the fact that the characters in this series have colored eyelashes a la Himari in Penguindrum and Ichiko in Binbougami ga!.

I actually thought that Acchi Kocchi was one of those mini-series with three minute episodes until I watched the fist episode. It doesn't drag as much as I thought it would, but this is one of those "break glass in case of severe depression" series that I'm going to keep in my pocket until needed.

It's also quite rewatchable. Kinda like simpsons or gintama. Each eps is stand alone of cute

This was actually my very first thought upon beginning the first episode of Kokoro Connect.

I'm still watching it, which should at least tell you that it doesn't become overbearingly otaku-y. The scene in question is actually really amusingly subverted in a later episode, but I'll leave that for you to discover.

This app is horrible. I wanted to read the FULL comic Dredd because I saw the trailer at a movie,but instead this app lead me on. This was my first time ever reading a comic (I’m a girl and never thought I would ever read one of these things ^.^) and the experience wasn’t the best.

I think I’ll stick to manga for now on, at least they let you read the full series without making you pay for it.

For anyone who wants to read the comic Dredd, forget about it. It’s hard to find any scans online, and the actual site makes you pay for it.

Jump manga actually allows sites such as ******** an *********** to actually publish the scans online FOR FREE. It actually helps business.

I read the series D.Gray-man on *********** and liked it so much I went out and bought all the books. (there are 23 volumes and they cost at least $10 each, that’s $230!) So in conclusion, if you bought this app to read the comic Dredd, delete it immediately. Your better off reading some other comic or -better yet- switch to manga!

You don’t have to pay for the books if you read the scans online and comics are the American version of Japanese manga that has been around for centuries.
