The point of these presentations is to convince people like me who are not interested in getting a Wii U otherwise. I actually would've entertained the thought of getting one had the Premium package been announced at $299
No, the point is to first convince your loyal fans to buy asap and not wait for some price drop etc.

Yeah, this press conference was streamed worldwide for a reason. Announcing exclusive games, showing new applications, and displaying the multiple-screening multiplayer were all evidence Nintendo gave us to try and buy a Wii-U.

I'm tempted, I wont lie. I probably wont get one, but I did buy a DS and 3DS on day one- so who knows.
With social media, you have to put something like this out there to be watched, but the majority of customers won't see it as a video. They will get the news from elsewhere about the price and the availability.

It's one tiny piece of the marketing puzzle, but the real work is done in stores and on TV.

That's true. But that doesn't mean the conference was not aimed at potential consumers. Again, they sent me an email inviting me to watch the conference with a link to said conference.

Deluxe version FTW!

Also, the stupidity of people saying $300 is expensive for a next gen console (considering many of this people paid $400 for a 360 and $600 for a PS3 with no games at launch).

360 and PS3 were a quantum leap over what had come before in terms of graphics, sound, and online integration.

I'm not agreeing with 10k here, but you have to factor in the WiiU Gamerpad which is by far the most expensive console controller yet. It is somewhere in the Kinect range, and if the 720 has a Kinect 2.0 then it will have this same problem (pricing-wise).

Is there a replay of the stream available? They're Nintendo.com/Facebook/Youtube accounts aren't replaying it. I'd like to see the hype!

And the wii U is a quantum leap over the Wii in graphics, sound, online, digital, and interactivity. And yet, it's only $100 than the Wii (149.99 as of right now). That's good value. Plus the deluxe version comes with a full game that introduces the GamePad, and 10% of digital downloads for the first two years. It's good value. I lol at ppl who wanted this thing for $200.

It's $400 after tax here in Ontario for the deluxe version. That's nothing to sneeze at

The only game I'm really interested in that's only for it is Mario and with a launch window stretched out until March it's going to be a long time coming until there's another game I want.

If it had been $300 instead of $350 that would have gone a long way towards convincing me to buy it at launch rather then waiting like I'm thinking of doing now.
