Wii U Thread - Now in HD!

I predict:

The game will be 720 p
It will get internet gaf backlash
None of it will matter and it will go on to sell nearly exactly the same as it would have otherwise.

could always go the other way

has 1080p but sells less on Wii U (which it will anyway due to launch/lack of userbase)
still nice to have an HD Nintendo platform not getting gimped ports at least for another year

They might say it about cross-system functionality, although if I'm not mistaken, Nintendo announced that before PS All Stars was ever announced.

I hope they don't "steal" anything from PS AllStars' gameplay though. The game looks so completely awful.

PlayStation All-Stars was announced in April 2012. New Smash with crossplay was announced in June 2011.

And what could they seriously rip off from psas?

Fils-Aime noted that that more unannounced Wii U games are in development, including some that will release “during the launch window that we haven’t announced yet.”

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
Nintendo of America haven't announced the bulk of the games that will ultimately be coming out in the launch window that have already been announced elsewhere.

There's no 'surprise' games.

That Warioware stage in Brawl transformed every minute or so. More of that maybe? Or do I have it wrong?

The transformations in PSAS don't stay within a single franchise. For example, one stage starts off in the LBP editor and eventually turns into a Buzz game show. They're basically mash-ups of two different games in one map.

I find this so strange it's like a Nintendo platform is finally being accepted into the men gamer club
- weird that I would feel more comfortable with him trolling the Wii U not defending 1080p Black Ops on the thing.

has this been confirmed this 1080p talk?

Nope, no confirmation yet. I doubt it will be but it's be nice if it is.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Who needs analog triggers? Just put more pressure with your foot on the balance board to go faster.....

It is a bummer, but I believe the average person just treats analog triggers like digital, full on or off.

I am basing this off my exhaustive and extensive collection of no research.

So, if theres a lack of analouge triggers in general, how can we expect to play racing games efficiently?

Edit: Just saw that the wii classic controller was analouge. Why did they omit this feature?

We buy the analogue trigger attachment. And IIRC nintendo got sued over the designs of the Gamecube And classic controllers a few years back. One of the reasons was because of the triggers. I'm guessing that's why

Original Tomb Raider had little to do with Uncharted, and everything shown of modern Tomb Raider looks exactly like Uncharted (even if the developers argue it isn't). That's where the correlation is drawn.
The funny thing is, when I was playing through Uncharted 2, all I could think was "man this feels just like Tomb Raider Legend". They're not quite as distinct as you're insinuating there; the climbing mechanics feel about the same in both titles. Can't really recall Legend's fighting mechanics to comment on that detail, though.

I've got other qualms with the reboot, in all honesty, beyond any claims of being an Uncharted clone - namely, they've taken the strong, bold woman from earlier titles and instead given us a fairly panicky young adult in her place. I dunno, the last time we had a strong-willed female character have her personality redefined, we wound up with Other M. Different teams, obviously, but point is, this can backfire spectacularly, so I've got reservations as to whether or not they'll pull it off.

So, if theres a lack of analouge triggers in general, how can we expect to play racing games efficiently?
Same as always: buy a wheel. Pretty sure those come with analog pedals, right?

Nintendo most likely didnt take that into account. There will probably be some wheels or something for racing simulators though.

the article only mentions analog sticks, not analog triggers. Which is odd, because the n64 had it before, and also the other consoles, well before GC and Wii released.

I just want to know how they're going to handle driving games without analog triggers.

does not bother me as much for arcade as sim racing but I hope for a nice wheel

I find the analog triggers to be in the same line as the multi-touch disappointment

maybe this is the Wii Us frankenstick another silly move by Nintendo keeping something important out to later give us a retarded fix

Well I guess Im looking forward to my motion-analogue-plus-vitality-pro attackment for my gamepad!

Wow, what was wrong with the design? Was it already patented and did they lose?

The Wii U controller would be perfect if it had analog triggers. It really pisses me off something so simple is holding it back like this. And it's not like Nintendo hasn't used analog triggers in the past either. Hell the special analog triggers on the GameCube were the "gimmick" for that console generation. Even the Mario game was centered around them. I can't believe they would simply forget about them.

I think nintendo won, because the suit apparently was about the analog sticks not the triggers. And I dont think the sticks changed much for the CCPro.

edit: yeah they won

thanks for the link, nice read. so they want to enter a market ruled by ninty, sony, ms and they are making them their enemies in the first place. silly patent-trolls. i´m completly in favor of copyright but this is just plain wrong. the patent system in the us is really fucked up or how could they go away this?

Edit: thank you majik13

I feel like every game company gets sued every generation....makes me wonder if its actually genuine or not.....

Hmm, interesting that the sticks were a problem. So then it still doesnt make sense that they wouldnt have analogue triggers in the cc pro. Has nintendo confirmed this or is it just common knowledge based on use and reports?

It has been mainly from hands on reports and use, I beleive.

Also Nintendo hasn't said they are analog when detailing the controller specs. If they were, they would probably describe/list them as such.

have we seen any Wii U hardware Commercials on Television yet? (I don't have cable/or watch tv)

it's like they don't even have to advertise this thing because it is already sold out
